IT'S BEEN
28 years since the Canadian Folk Rock band the Barenaked Ladies was formed in Ontario Cananda after being jokingly entered in a talent show with the name. The band has had a few members but is most known by band members:
Jim Creegan, Bass
Tyler Stewart, Drums
Kevin Hearn, Keys
Ed Robertson, Guitar and Vocals
(Former) Steven Page, Guitar and Vocals
Although they got their start by often passing around little cassete tapes like the yellow tape:
(I own one it is awesome)
Here's a whole bunch of information and a whole bunch of videos!
Perhaps their most well known album in the US is STUNT released in 1998 featuring hits like One Week

and It's All Been Done

Their live performances are excellent, featuring tons of actual very good improv! Seriously, I've been to a few concerts and not a single one tops a BNL show. They improv, play their asses off, and generally have a blast. I even got to go backstage and meet them once and they're the nicest dudes!

Sadly, in 2009 Steven Page left the band "by mutual agreement" (After Page was arrested with drugs shortly before a planned concert of their kids music, which is also great.) The music. Not the drug thing.

After Page left the band continued to make music, and even made a song about Page leaving, which was very sad.

Page fired back with his own lyrical lambasting.

Page continues to make music but I miss his vocals for sure. He could really do some crazy things with those pipes.

They're also friends with other fun personalities, like Rooster Teeth!

THEY EVEN PLAYED A SONG WITH SOMEONE IN SPACE

But they continue to make amazing music with the four remaining members and continue to have a unique sound. Behind the spoiler are a few of my favorites.
As a bonus, LOOK IT'S ME WITH BNL!
(The one in the orange portal shirt with much worse facial hair than I have now, and messy gross hair, with friend who is censored cause I dunno)

what's the job?
Pfff quite a few of their songs are pretty damn dark!
I mean the white people thing seems accurate though

Get out of my head, sniperguy!

This probably won't help
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Umm... Crab fabbing it sounds like?
DevOps type stuff, monitoring production web services and working with their developers to RCA and design/implement improvements. I will probably be mostly gone from chat for a few months I'm going to have to learn a million billion things.
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies
But then I realized oh, different generic band from that era
I almost did this last week but then I just ended up ordering new ear pads for them.
It's nice not having crappy flecks of bonded leather on my ears/face

I make 19.41 per hour and usually work a standard 40hr week, grossing around 40,300 dollars per annum. I contribute 5% of my pretax income to a 401k and between health, vision and dental I pay 24 bucks a week. So I net about 29k a year after taxes and deductions.
I will be posting my SSN on page 101
Are they really tho
They didn't record the Big Bang Theory theme song so, yes.
I was too much of a bleeding heart liberal in college and I wanted to build a better world not make weapons or drill for oil
what a fking idiot
I've been kind of semi-devops lately. Doing lots of monitoring/instrumentation stuff, which we've been sorely lacking.
@Jacobkosh if we promise not to post anime, can the thread recycle just slightly later than usual?
It's been like two years for you now, right? Might as well take a look around. Easier when you're already employed that's for sure.

Yeah but once we have our glorious revolution the civil engineer will be the true hero of the state.
You'll get two extra bread rations.

Unless this is a Maoist type revolution.
Thank God I never had a good car, or lived in a city with interesting roads.
I've been doing more since the rest of the devops team here quit, of course it's been like 5 months now since the first one left and I've only been given one candidate to interview to backfill the positions -- hopefully this is the kick I've needed to finally be rid of this place.

I know that's the common wisdom but I've never found it to be true for me. *shrug*
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
It's like a month until endless vidya. But I've run out of other games to play and now I want it to be next month but like.. I don't want a month to just be gone ya know?
Stupid delays ruining everything..
Money doesn't cure all ills, but it sure makes a lot of things easier. Like no longer choosing between rent, food, and warmth, and the complete and chronic depression that accompanies those choices.
Totally.
Cutoff point for making ends meet seems to be about $60k for me.

we're hiring
I need new jorb.
