Well, there are two questions - is the game easier to balance in that balance patches come faster, or is it easier to balance in that unlike D1 we don't swing from dominant primary to dominant primary?
D1 there were a tiny handful of guns that were obviously the most powerful in every "season" - Suros Regime, TLW/Thorn, Hopscotch Pilgrim, Hawksaw, Doctrine of Passing, Clever Dragon being some names you might recognise, with Eyasluna and Palindrome. And, where there were alternatives you were basically looking for the same perks but a different look (for example, you might want the same thing on a clever dragon as a grasp of malok or the FWC equivalent).
On the other hand, as I mentioned previously there's a swathe of very, very competitive weapons for both primary slots and all weapons types:
Better Devils
The Old Fashioned
Dire Promise
Crimil's Dagger
Jack Queen King 3
Annual Skate/Minuet-45
Allegro 23
That's as many on-meta handcannons as there were on-meta primaries in total in any given D1 "season"
Adjudicator
Antiope-D/Sondok-C
Atalanta-D
Phosphorus
Stochastic Variable
Hero's Burden
Sol Pariah 6
There's 7 competitive SMGs (obviously Antiope-D is the 800 pound gorilla) - but there are a few higher level SMG strategies, Kill Clip, Tap the Trigger (bursts into Melee), Sway Reduction (Keep shooting) and Threat Detector (get close and shred) and then the different SMGs implement those strategies in different ways
The Precision archetype of Autorifle is pretty strong, but there are many options there (and the most popular isn't the most powerful, Uriels is outshot by The Number, especially on PC, Positive Outlook outshoots everything after the first kill)

While your lists of weapons may be part of some competitive meta, I as some Wood League player who pvps sometimes, can recognize being killed by maybe 3 of those guns total plus the AR's listed.
Like afaik you just made up half those handcannons.
Contrarily my D1 vault is stuffed with weapons I used as often as I could rotate them out
And my point is that the meta is balanced (and possibly easy to balance) in that there arent any runaway beasts which is true regardless of whether bungie is patching every week or once a ddecade
Yeah I guess if all the weapons are bland and unremarkable they're easy to balance.
Insofar as they are that (and I don't think it is obviously the case) - it is because the D2 weapon system has been simplified to Intrinsic Perk (unless adaptive), Minor Perk, Major Perk, Scope, and in D1 there were perks that are now major perks that could appear in combination with other major perks on some guns. But the perks are pretty much the same (not super flashy) and it isn't clear the level of analysis that puts D1 into the exciting camp and D2 into the bland camp regarding guns
But also, that's an entirely separate issue to random vs fixed rolls.

Anyway, I don't know if guns are going away this season or not after the faction rally but I recommend chasing down these:
Dire Promise - Dead Orbit - This is a lightweight handcannon (move faster) that also happens to be absurdly stable which makes snapping off a lot of shots quickly much easier. It is largely considered the easiest to use. With buffs coming to HC accuracy this might be a monster, not just an easy to use shooter.
The Number - FWC - outshoots Uriels. Might survive the upcoming nerfs.
Stochastic Variable - FWC - flexible SMG with tap the trigger, can be 900 rpm w high caliber rounds or 600 rpm with phase mag
Royal Dispensation II - Shiny Fascists - very nice 900 round energy SMG with high cal rounds and grave robber, get punching
Unification VII - Red and Golden Dawn - best slug shotgun and best precision shotgun, probably (the IB one has much longer range but is much harder to use, hand in hand is much easier to use but doesnt have the range and is also hard to find)
Legal Action II - MC Hideo and the Oppression Boiz - High impact sausage rifle, high cal rounds, rampage. With buffs to rampage and sausage rifles inbound this could be a massive hit

Apparently the dark secret to getting a >329 warlock bond is complaining about it online. Got on yesterday afternoon, finished out the last few % for my clan xp milestone and, tada, class item.

I know just regular quickplay PvP nowadays seems to mostly be much better players than it used to be. And queues take forever. I think I sat in one for ~5 minutes last night watching it bounce between 5/8 and 6/8 before I gave up and did a faction supplies thing instead.
Video Games at the Symphony presents The Music of Destiny 2 - a live visual experience, performed by the Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra and directed by Laurence Berteig.
Friday, May 18, 2018 @ 8:00 PM
Saturday May 19, 2018 @ 3:00 PM
Open seating tickets: $55.
VIP tickets: $75 (includes reserved seating), a 7:00 PM pre-concert autograph reception with composers from the game; Michael Salvatori, Skye Lewin and C Paul Johnson.
Plus a chance to win Destiny 2 Collector Editions and other memorabilia!
Refreshments will be served.
VIP tickets are limited and first come first serve!
Tbh having gone to regular concerts recently where I am standing in a smelly crowd (and usually taller than me) for 50 bucks, 55 bucks with refreshments included sounds like a nice deal. And 75 bucks to meet the composers of the soundtrack sounds fair price.
In Paris a similar event goes for 100 euros and 300 for the meet and greet.

preach if you don't go who am i going to live vicariously through
Finally hit 335 on my Warlock and my Hunter last night doing the weekly stuff. My Titan just needs a better pair of boots and he'll be there too.
Which... means I'm largely out of goals to keep me playing until the next expansion. I've got looks that I'm really happy with on all three characters too, so not even needing to chase cosmetics.
I'll still pop in to play every so often, because it's a relaxing game that I don't need to put too much brainpower into, but I sure wouldn't mind some info on what they're planning next to keep me excited.
Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan
Fixed an issue where applying or previewing a shader on an item would return players to the top page of the shader inventory

I can’t wait for this. It isn’t even consistent. And it makes it very difficult to get my shaders done in Time for the match to start when trying a new gun
Getting a bit of a surplus of SMGs with grave robber, so I figured I'd take a look at them, see if I wanted to shard any. The Radiant Stardust I got today and the Sol Pariah seemed like a good place to start, since they're both energy weapons and both lightweight.
Okay, that seems pretty clear cut, if I want to make more vault space, Radiant Stardust should be a good-
...damn. Okay, not just an easy call, I guess.

It is one of the two non slug precision shotguns. It has the longest kill range of the non-slug, non-acrius shotguns
It is recommed if you like to shoot shootguns

In the ongoing saga of the intrinsic juggler, I think that this is extra disconfirmed insofar as it is has been described given I got energy ammo dropping without kinetic ammo while using my energy weapon.
Trials of the Nine started out with 1.043.859 players.
Last week had 52.392 players... (Which isn't the all time low record which was hit the week before at 49.873)
Who cares about a million players though.
I'm curious what the daily login number for Destiny 2 is but I guess that information is not exactly provided by Bungie, especially right now.
I’m surprised it was that high to begin with. Loads were caught out when it first started with regards to not having done a quest line that allowed you to play.
Also those 3 (I think?) weeks when trials was offline due to the silly walk emote and the lack of matchmaking hardly did it any favours.
Long matches with no rewards were off putting as well.
A miserable experience compared to Destiny 1 trials.

the idea that there seem to be separate ammo drop tables seems to explain this, where sometimes enemies will drop one, less commonly two, or much more rarely three bricks of ammo
it may not be real, but it certainly feels like my most common experience is getting energy ammo with kinetic weapons and vice versa
if there is a heavily weighted chance to get the opposite kind, a less common chance to get the same kind, and a rare chance to get power ammo, that would all make sense to me given what i've seen since launch
Allegedly a voice of reason.

The lack of special weapons is just another thing that makes Destiny 2 boring to me, I loved shotgunning with Found Verdict all the time.
Oh, its easier to balance? Like I give a fuck, not like you tried very hard at balancing the game to begin with, see - Sniper Rifles.

Whatever is happening it is looking less and less like juggler. But could be this. Could be weighted. It certainly isn’t 100%

yeah, i've only ever thought of it as juggler in terms of it being kind of a similar idea where using one type of ammo gives you a better chance of the other one to drop
not, like, the only way to get the other one to drop
Allegedly a voice of reason.

I don’t think that Special Weapons are necessarily a balance issue as much as “We want primary weapon battles, gunskillgunskill” was the rallying cry of famous streamers and reddit/the Bungie forums for over a year.

In the other hand if you only get approximate replacement rates across both weapons at once and the drops are 50/50 then the effect is preserved in terms of running out of ammo if you use the same thing all the time.
I constantly run out of kinetic ammo while doing heroic strikes and basically never outside of that. I also almost always have heavy ammo during said strikes. It's certainly not 100% juggler but it does seem weighted at least somewhat. It may even just be weighted to drop more heavy and that's why I end up running out of whichever ammo I'm using.
I do miss using shotguns and FRs. I know they still exist but I never want one instead of a rocket or a sword. Especially when I don't get many more shotgun shots than I do rocket launcher rockets.
