Crucible rank rewards:
Valor ranks give 4 out of the 5 armor ornaments, each of which requires a specific rank AND a challenge (reward packages, pulse rifle kills, etc.) plus a pulse rifle, emblem, and exotic ghost that gives extra faction tokens for both Vanguard and Crucible.
Glory rewards are the chest ornament, 4 guns (requiring Glory ranks 1-4) along with an ornament for Redrix's and an emblem.

Considering I already used Crimson and Hard Light all the time before the expansion (and wanted to use Lance with my warlock)
i honestly would be fine with clans being a more robust friend and organization list and less a gameplay perk
I think giving them a game play niche of "free loot" really helped push them as a thing you'd want, even if you have to build it yourself. In games where PA isn't I know I don't really give a shit about clans where I might have in Destiny 2.
Now they're just a bad friend and organization list. Oh, I guess we get flag things that I don't have any idea what the hell the last one did because it was generally irrelevant.
The usual problem with attaching rewards to clans is fucking over people who don't have clans or don't have very big or active clans.
I can see what they are going for with this change. It makes the rewards from those activities more meaningful since you can't get them just by existing in a clan with someone who does.
A big part of what they are pushing right now is making it feel like you are earning your loot and light level in some fashion rather then it just being dumped on you.
And honestly I can't say that as an overall goal it's not a good idea. I do think one of this game's big problems from the start was that it threw so much at you so quickly that it all became pretty meaningless. (it also didn't help that the stuff was itself very samey)
If it were all loot I'd be more sympathetic to this argument but Raiders/Trialers have their epeens, it's Raid Armor. You get that only be doing the raid, you can't coast on that. Raid weapons at least are just such strong tools I do not like non-raiders getting locked out of Sins of the Past or Midnight Coup.
Why the distinction between the armour and the weapons though? Why is having to raid to get one ok but the other not?
And frankly, I'd say weapons are overall a larger motivation then armour since they actually change your gameplay experience.
I mean, you have the reason right there in your post. Guns are integral and actually have variation in effect. Armor is cosmetic. I'm generally not cool with being better at the game meaning you get better gear to be better at the game when PvP is involved. It creates a win more mechanic and poisons the player base. Cosmetic stuff for being awesome all day long, as I agree, bragging rights are definitely a thing in games.
That assumes the guns are better. That has not really been the case. A lot of the "best guns" available have been from all over the place since the game launched.
Raid and Trials had some pretty dang good guns.
Guns can change how you play, so it's nice that for those who may not be able to Raid or Trials due to life or whatever still had a chance at getting some from their Clan.
The armor is more cosmetic and is what other players see, so the players that actually run the activities can show off to others
It made sense to me
One would hope they had good guns. You want real rewards. But they aren't the only best guns is the point. The closest one to that is Sins of the Past and even then there's at least one other Rocket Launcher that's basically as good if not better in some instances.
Doing the Raid or Trials doesn't get you better guns, it gets you (mostly) good guns that are comparable to really good guns you can get from elsewhere.

got my first option for some mars weapons (auto rifle/pulse/scout) and I'm petrified because last expansion you only got to choose once no matter doing it with another character
If any of you have been feeling anxious for the past few months and you didn't know why, and that feeling just went away, it's probably because I just took the shaders out of my postmaster that I've been keeping in there for the entirety of season 2.

So, haven't touched the game since prior to CoO, just did a looksee on what masterworks are.
how does that effect the exotic collection, now that exotics can be masterwork? Does it update the exotic in the collection to masterwork, or is it always just the base exotic no matter what and you have to use a core to upgrade them?
Oh, I guess, also, do exotics need a different type of core?
I've got to be honest, it sounds like a pretty silly system all around. Or at the very least completely unnecessary if they had any semblance of a plan about what to do with static vs random perks to begin with. WoW did (does?) something like this when they added warforge or whatever it was called to drops, that basically had the effect of not actually improving the drop system in any conceivable way, simply added yet another, rarer, tier of ilvl that made getting a drop that wasn't the "special" version, crappy. And since it was completely random, it wasn't actually a reward, simply a roll of the dice; so instead of finding ways to entice players to high end content and reward those who participated they just punted the ball and put in something that simultaneously solved nothing while introducing more problems. :rotate:

You make masterwork exotics by doing quests for the specific weapons. Once they’re masterworks, they are also masterworks in the collection.

no one wasn't doing the raids because of the clan engrams
they were happy to get the clan engrams when there were no raids to be had
The problem with Crimson was that it being a burst fire weapon made proccing the magazine refill a pain in the ass. And it was useless on big enemies that took a lot of bullets.
