Once you have them, I found that some fire res jewels and flameproof mantle were more than enough, if not overkill.
There's a flameproof mantle?! Damnit, I'm so far behind you guys!
I've seen things you wouldn't believe.
A mantle that completely negates any damage reactions in particular.
(if you take damage, you aren't moved or stopped by the attack at all and can't be interrupted)
Amusingly I think rocksteady is straight busted for 8* stuff but I think it caused more trouble than it’s benefits against t2/3 tempered. If you get hit you generally want to get knocked down for those sweet iframes, and 2 hits while wearing rocksteady is still death.
I’m sure better players than me could make use of it but I prefer the evasion/vitality/impact mantles.
I basically use Rocksteady as a 90 second Earplugs skill, and also when I want to play chicken with Dragonpiercer.
Man, tempered Kirin really had me feeling like my first time fighting Anjanath all over again. I had to go back and farm up (ironically) an Anja fire bow, thunder mantle, and practice on regular HR Kirin to get a better feel for the moveset. And it felt even BETTER when I finally beat his sparkly frizzed mane donkey ass like a drum last night. *chef's kiss* It's the same high you get when you beat an MMO raid boss, except you don't have to deal with all the bullshit leading up to the boss itself!
It's been a really long time since I've had this much fun playing a vidja game. It's even hard to go back to the older Monster Hunter's since I'm an older gamer now and the QoL improvements are a necessary part of respecting my diminishing gaming time.
Not that long ago I saved up a million zenny to get that achievement and man I burned through it in no time building and upgrading different armor sets. I need more money.
Money seems to be the one thing I am not lacking in this game. Armor Spheres is what I'm always in need of.
While I agree that being insensitive is an issue, so is being oversensitive.
Kirin for me at any difficulty stage is...
/grab Rathalos LBG and Thunder Mantle
/dodge 99% of the things due to a high mobility ranged weapon
/dump fire and slicing ammo into it's face.
/laugh whenever he flinches himself jumping on your mines

Thought I was free from World's iron grip, was away from it for a few days but logged in last night to do the weeklies and then I somehow ended up farming Val Hazaak.
I did make and fully upgrade the Legiana HBG this morning, but I haven't had a chance to hunt with it. When I get back to playing later tonight I'll try to make a complementary armor set and play around with the different mod styles.

Take them Kirin legs for the extra ammo, they're a major boon. I think the Azure Rath chest also gives a boost to Pierce shot. The other pieces... I might have taken Xeno'jiva or something? I can't right remember if I'm perfectly honest, but Xeno's always good for HBG owing to how you sometimes won't use up ammo

Hhhh, I realized that the coolest collab ever would be a Supergiant/Capcom collab letting hunters look like the Kid with the Caelondian Hammer or Red and the Transistor (Greatsword)

Can confirm, I still have like 210+ Advanced Armor sphere and like 80 Hard Armor spheres.
@Satsumomo how many shield mods should I be installing? All 3?
I don't know the full mechanics, but I'm only using 1 shield mod, plus 4 guard and guard up and I can block Xeno's beam with almost no health loss. I assume additional shield mods count as adding to guard.

I'm worried about burning out on MHW before the theoretical G-rank so I'm not farming Tempered EDs... but instead I restarted MH4U (in which I originally never got past HR) and have been carving my way through with Charge Blade and Great Sword.
I can’t find any use for the tickets they gave out for the 7.5 million thing, but giving everybody 50 lifepowder was a great improvement to multiplayer hunts
I can't confirm yet, but I guess the mushroom quest is a tempered track farming quest and not deviljho
I ran around collecting mushrooms, and I only found tempered tracks for many monsters (all of the tracks are tempered). I didn't see a single big monster, though. I don't know if they are actually there or if it's just for track farming.

Eh, the old skill system is fine once you understand it. It wasn’t explained well enough though, I’ll give that.
And tbh I miss multiple sized gems for the same skills. I wish there were more 3 slot useful versions of skills. Maybe g rank will add that.
Even once you understand it, it sucks until you're at endgame. I'm leveling Great Sword so I'm interested in two skills: Focus, and Crit Draw. Let's see what I can make that will let me get those...
... oh literally nothing before G-rank? Cool, cool. Guess it's the same Attack Up L Velociprey garbage I'm wearing for every other weapon.
Maybe the skill system is great once you're grinding G-rank, but it's terrible at every other stage of the game. MHW's system is solid throughout.

Neat, that is sort of what people need for SOSs, right? Did you notice how many threat level 2, or elder tracks there were?
People are still going to be pissed it isn't deviljho, especially if it isn't coming for a few weeks.

Zero elder tracks. It was all of the usual suspects for the first area (Rathalos, Bazel, Pukei, Tobi, etc.).
Previous skill system was not newbie friendly. The idea you could have skills on armor that you haven't activated was confusing as hell when I first started playing.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

I literally only saw Threat 1 tracks myself which makes it kinda shitty. Maybe other people encountered Threat 2 tracks? I sure as heck didn't.
Though in better news, the other Event Quest lets you craft "Shadow Shades α" which are tinted sunglasses that give Stun Resistance I and three level 1 decoration slots. They're a contender for massive one-slot head decorations now with the Guild Cross Circlet if you'd rather have Stun Resistance over Divine Blessing.
I encounter Bazel tracks (2 difficulty) in the mushroom quest.
I also found Rathian, Pukei, Tobi which were 1 difficulty.
In other news, I got my very first Hero stone; it’s for Hammers/Hunting Horns.
I haven’t used one of those weapons yet, which can you recommend?
Hammers are a lot of fun in general, and it depends on what you want to do. Hard to go wrong with most of them!
For rarity 8, I think I'd recommend Nergigante's, Zorah's, or maybe Xeno's.
Edit: I haven't HHd, though, and can't compare. I will say the Hammer has very satisfying feedback, and once you get good at doing the power charged level 2 swings and your standard combos and the like, your ability to stagger monsters when they want to be aggressive feels pretty great. And when you knock them out, hoo.

I now start to regret having so many weapons. I wanna have all my weapons upgraded.
Think I just got my favorite kill on Nergigante. Been getting pretty good at fighting him with the Charge Blade, and the last run I did against him he went to go do his big dumb dive bomb and I decided to try guard pointing it. Then he just fucking died from the impact damage. I am the rocks of the eternal shore! Crash against me and be broken!

There are some Rathalos tracks (tier 2) around as well, especially in the upper reaches of the tree.

Kill all the monsters. Make them into hats.
i mean, I have i think 8 different longswords and i think i've not used half of them.
I'm afraid i'll burn out. It's fun still to hunt monsters over and over but..... i'm over 70 hours in and still haven't reached nergigante.

Yeaaaaah I hit 200 the other night.
Nerg is like, 2/3 of the way through. I have never seen anyone stuff so much game into a game as this.
Get in the trap, Nebby!
He really really wanted to chew on my palico instead.
