Last night I finally broke 40 in the UG... decided to grind it out instead of just doing dailies and bread runs... soloing 5 Directive Challenge missions is probably what I should have been trying to do all this time as it's the most XP per intel than anything else. But I remember when underground was like... crazy unforgiving with the checkpoints and all... kind of made me leery of it. But those were the Old Days. And it's was fine, until that last run. IDK what happened but I died weird at the end of the second phase and you know how you just get thrown off? Stupid stuff kept happening and I couldn't get through the first generator defense, so I dropped back down to hard 5 directive and was still just dying over the dumbest stuff... like... IDK.
I did see a tile that I've never seen until now: the mall tile. It's got a double flight of stairs you go up and an ammo crate in a store... and it's neat. I've even done the club a few times since they added that to the mix and not this one. This was a "defend the JTF officer" mission. I've seen the bank vault a few times... the contaminated furnace room... what other rare tiles are there?
also got my 20 hungry hog player kills, completed the capture bases thing in Last stand, I'm progressing nicely toward those 50 wins.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
Edit: Oh yeah, my Uplay account is DrEwPhD, in case anyone wants to friend me for Div2 or help me out in Div1 (currently level 27 or 28? never stepped foot in DZ or done the survival DLC I got with the humble monthly)
One thing I did notice is that enemies are now calling out we're division agents, which is a nice change.
A lot of this looked fun, enemies are way faster to kill holy moly.
But man that enemy dialog is t e r r i b l e, and hopefully those sound issues are fixed before launch.
Had to laugh that the first purple mob in that video is wearing Marine Corps dress blue trousers. There's very few pieces of leg wear that are lower down on my list of "Shit you don't wear when hot or you need to move". Plus the jacket is the actual cool part of that uniform.
Also when they go upstairs one of the players mistakes his teammate for a bad guy and shoots him a couple times before he notices the actual mob standing three feet away.
Was an email they sent to entice people to play the beta said "Come see a real government shutdown"
Don't under sell it, that was the subject line.
Just the thought of some PR head running around an hour afterwards yelling "we're not political" cracks me up
I think it's an incredibly insensitive distraction from a game literally about the fall of the US government in which you spend your time gunning down thousands and thousands of US citizens in order to take their slightly better ARs.

TBF, they (Massive) are a Swedish company so there is a foreigner disconnect between both of those concepts, even with it being set in a Tom Clancyverse.

The first game has body bags lining some streets and Central Park is iirc a mass body bag deposit.
Also there’s still animals/insects which would make short work of bodies lying around.

I chose to take out my knife, stab and sunder the joke in its soft belly until the meat came out, then pulled at that meat, past the sinew until I could see the glistening bones. And then, I cracked one of those bones open, for the delicious marrow that lie within.

in the neighborhoods next to the dark zone there are bodies stacked up like one story and on fire. Like people go "oh there aren't enough body bags for all the dead" and with later expansions they added places where body disposal was occuring.
Also near the docks there are a couple parks being dug up to have mass graves as well. I wonder what the div 2 version of that will be since Valassi mentioned the danger of all these corpses lying around in the heat as opposed to the cold.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Just got my first Superior quality gun.
That was quite the step up from Specialized.
Hmmm. Humble have the DLC packs up for $1.85. I seem to have gotten Survival off Humble as well, but Underground looks interesting. Is that soloable? $1.85 isn't bad if I can get a week or two in until Division 2 drops.

Underground is totes soloable, it scales nicely. Think greater rifts in diablo 3 if you've played that and you'll be 100% on the money.

Hmm been dipping my toe into D1 since a friend gifted me TD2 as an early birthday gift (actual day is in March). I'm surprisingly hyped for the beta, mas the regular Division is playing a shitload better than I remember at launch. It's making me take a break from AssCreed Odyssey and Kindom Hearts to focus on saving New York.
Sadly, the DZ is still populated with ganking asshats. But the story stuff and Underground are great fun.

Got some kind of chest unlock in Div1, maybe some Club freebie?
Anyway it had several level 30 specialized gear items. At level 13, vendoring those made me a millionaire. When the best stuff on vendors is around 5k.... feels like I entered a cheat code.
Oh dear, credits are ridiculously easy to come by but you've just vendored gear that people will literally grind a weekend for a chance at.
Not too worried since I'll never play this up to 30 (got it for free in Humble) and it's more or less a dead game at this point with the new one around the corner.

Just did Amhearsts Apartment mission, and I've now leveled enough to start moving over to the right side of the map. Still having a lot of fun. Superior weapons seem to hang around a while - my main gun is a Superior quality M4 and it's 3 levels below me and still chewing through guys.
I haven't played it as long as some people here, so I'm sure you guys are happy for an environment change, but I really will miss the snowy setting. It just makes for some stunning vistas. Moving over to the other side of the map, I was running down a street with steam pouring from manholes and vents, a nearby burning building with a ground level smoke haze and yellow sunlight glaring through it all, reflecting off buildings, cars and snow. For an older game (and one set in a viral apocalypse at that) I'm struggling to think of a recent game that has such pretty sights.

All Div1 DLC is 90% off on Humble right now. The season pass is $4.
Is there single player-possible content in there? Or would I find just a bunch of empty new areas/modes?

So, Underground is soloable as it scales enemies based on how many people are in there. It acts as a kind of repeatable content that you can add modifiers to. Survival is a separate game mode that requires you to complete certain objectives to get out while also finding and crafting all your gear along the way. Clothes to stay warm because you can die to the cold outside during the match etc. Last Stand is the dedicated more traditional PvP mode.
All of those are soloable depending how much you enjoy it/your gear. None of them really add much in the way of "new areas" although I do suppose you could count Underground because of the deifferent tile sets you can have stitched together.
The only area added to the world map was the West Side Piers area and with that is the Resistance game mode which is a horde mode with waves and objectives to accomplish. Believe that was free for everyone though.
Underground was fun to me and Survival -although an acquired taste can be quite fun. Last Stand will depend completely on whether or not you like the PvP portion of the game.
Winter is one of those sadly underused settings for games and division has one of the best ones out there, the sort of stuff that feels as if it was made by people that have actual experiences with proper winter. What you tend to end up with when people south of the wall are trying to describe winter is either Disney-Christmas or Hoth.
I would say that unless you have a really good pvp focused kit and patience/humility, avoid Last Stand. You will get stomped.
It is actual pvp and not just pk, but coming into it at this stage would be rough.
I'ts been rough the whole time, even with a PvP kit, because it relies upon having the same weird chicken dancing reflexes and paper rock scissors knowledge of abilities that MMO games demand in their PvP and arenas. Here's looking at you WoW.
yay, managed to extract in survival today. The landing zone I was eying had a duo that killed their hunters and the heli was landing just as I walked up too so... yay. Should have grabbed one of the caches on the ground before I jumped in but there were only 30 seconds left.
I still need to take out 5 hunters, 2 hours and extract 96 more items for that achievement and the shield (1 more for shield) though. Ugh...
290 commendation points to go too.

Did you get it via Humble Monthly? If you did you already have Survival.
I did, and yes I see I have that one. It looks like most of the DLC meat is end-game, though, so I'll probably pass. I'm enjoying the campaign somewhat, but I don't see myself making it to 30 before I move on, let alone getting into end-game stuff.
