I went in blind with Wilhelm, CG Fina, VoD, Seph, Fry
Got surprised by the counters and didn’t notice the fire imbue until I tried to figure out why Wilhelm’s counters were resisted. Since all the chainers were frost, I was still doing some damage to him and just plodded through with a bunch of reraises. Seph used full raise to help out a couple of times too.
Knowing how it goes now, I’d build a different team.

I can just sell all these shadow bahamut mats, right? There’s no repeatable crafting recipe I can find.
I took down MK with WoL, Ayaka, Sephiroth, and two naked purple girls. I just let Sephiroth die to get rid of the fire imbue. Took 2 chaos wave chains, one of them being capped by Seph's LB to take it down.
I used Mystea, Ayaka, 2x T.Terra, and VoL. It ended up killing VoL a lot (didn't realize it still had physical attacks), but one round I was able to get her to use her LB. Unfortunately I mistimed T.Terra's LB chain so I missed that mission. Not sure if I care much though as Fire is one of the easiest to get over 100% resist to.
I read a fun strategy for the Materia Keeper HARD, where Cloud's LB was the only source of damage. Basically, bring a big DEF break, a lightning imperil, imbue Cloud with lightning, and buff up his attack.
I used Zarg for the 100% atk buff, Desch for the lightning imbue, Timothy for the break (super easy to fill his gauge), Ace for the imperil, and then Cloud (around 1660 ATK).
The boss was killed before the last hit came down, which is the "big" damage one. Pretty fun, and nice to beat the exploration with Cloud! Of course, I ran into a Dragon bonus monster so I just escaped from him.
Daily came down Rainbow. I have joined the Jiraiya club. At least his TMR is pretty good for Fryevia. His LB animation is also aces, too bad he's not particularly great. I did watch a Malboro clear video with two Jiraiya as the damage dealers, so he's not terrible...I just don't feel like using his Naruto looking ass.
I beat the Moon last night. First time I got to phase 2, then immediately died because Rikku's LB wore off. Second try I aborted due to not liking a magic tank in the group. Third time was the charm for all missions, but there was a time or two when I wasn't sure if I would make it.

That trial feels like a massive step up from everything else I've tried so far (still haven't tried the ice bird or malboro yet). I managed to beat it first try but I forgot to set up properly for the Crazy Day req

How hard is malboro compared to bloody moon? He's next on the to-do list for me, I'm feeling good about it
He's not bad of you have the right units. I used a provoke tank (Cagnazzo works, wish I had Wilhelm), a magic tank with 100% dark resist, Soleil, 2xT.Terra, and a healer. Soleil's buffs + SPR break was enough to enable T.Terra to kill the Smallboros in two turns.
The whole fight it just a matter of keeping track of when you need to kill the Smallboros (every 4 turns before 50% threshold, then every 3 turns after 50% thresholds) and also making sure you have status ailments protection up.

I've never really bothered, the rewards don't seem worth it. I do need to beat Elnath though.
I suspect I have an easymode composition for Malboro - Wilhelm, Marie, Soleil, a healer, and two TTerras for dps. Do I need to use Basch if Marie is already enhanced and present?
Having Marie should streamline things quite a bit to where you won't need Basch. So long as your TTerras can survive the dark damage. Just be sure not to drop the Smallboros below 20% health before killing them.
Also, Plant Killer+ from Ifrit will massively increase TTerra's damage where you'll probably be able to kill the Smallboros every turn where you don't have to use Magical Awakening. If so, that may make things much simpler - just kill the Smallboros every single turn and keep the Skin Softened debuff up on the big Malboro.
[edit] To be fair, statistically, I'm still way behind on rainbows. There are usually multiple months between them. We got free summons these last few month; plus, I used like 70 tickets this past week, so it makes sense that I would get one or two rainbows in them. That the rainbows arrived at the tail end of the summon spree is just randomness being random. I think if you counted all the pulls I did, including the free ones we got, you'd find that I'm nowhere near 3%.
Had 65,000 lapis so I decided to do a full run of the step up. Only 2 rainbows were the guaranteed ones, Onion Knight and Lila. Only one new unit beyond those, Drace.

Think so, but she has so many popular chaining partners that it would be worth doing even if not (as long as you have the gear for her).
Should I run the first three steps a second time for a guaranteed rainbow? Or just start the hoard for the next one?
33K Lapis left. I have Lila, and Lid, I should save for the next stepup or collab or 2year.
But 15K for a G5* is very tempting. That could be Wilhelm #2 or Basch #2!

I have 18k Lapis, tempted to do three steps for the G5*, but meh. So little chance it'll be something I want (Wilhelm) and I'd probably just end up with DFina #5
I'm more into the random 5* honestly, so I'm going to wait. I still feel the temptation, but I'm gonna stay strong and resist the disappointment. Besides, we get a 10+1 ticket tomorrow and then a 5* EX ticket the next week so I'll get the pulls in that way.

I found a leftover 3* ex ticket between my cushions. It turned into a Roy, which is fine...I already have enough things to pump lb for.
Had my son push the button for my 10+1, landed me an Orlandeau. Super hype, have my own chaining partner for Sephiroth. My farming priorities are going to change now since I need to gear him now.
