Even white nerd women who grew up in the 1980s aren't necessarily going to have the same set of 1980's media they are nostalgic for as white nerd men tend to have.

If we don't get an expanded universe cinematic reboot of Strawberry Shortcake then the patriarchy wins

Wasn't there a few posts in [chat] recently where we were lamenting how a bunch of things got a reboot recently, but still no Dino Riders?

The 80s, for me, is the nostalgic sensation combining Ghostbusters, the Ewok TV movies, and holiday ads for Kraft foods.

    And dustbusters.

Tommy Lee apparently told Carrey on set that he hated him and "Could not sanction his buffoonery."

Dude played the goofiest Two-Face in existence.

Those aren't like separate thoughts. You can play the goofiest character on screen and still think working with Jim Carrey is beneath you.

Even if almost every character he plays ends up having affects of "Jim Carrey", he is still very good and it's kind of unreal how much money he made mid 90s for a guy you rarely think about much anymore

@mrmister i feel like someone from a more ethnically divided country would readily also say that who to do the horizontal tango with is very much a political act

which is the flip side of the personalized political - it's only pleasant if it's one's own politics in sway

that's more of a pet thing though i acknowledge

Willow is a bad movie. Only RPO-style nostalgia makes people think otherwise.

Val Kilmer is all the best parts of Tombstone. This is despite them throwing a bucket of water on him every scene.

Kurt Russels NOOOoOOoOoooOoo! Is the dumbest part.

That movie does not hold up at all.

I'm not sure this isn't true for everyone in that movie.

RDJ is good in it, but I'd put Sherlock Holmes as my favorite RDJ movie though he's had a lot of good ones. Corbin Bernsen's best movie is Major League, easily Michelle Monaghan's best movie. Writing wise not Black's best but very top tier, directing I prefered the Nice Guys, if only because he seemed to have more flair for scenes in Nice guys.

Tombstone is an amazing movie about Kilmer's attempt to keep tuberculosis at bay via murder. It ends in a heartbreaking twist when he finds himself out of people to shoot and then dies.
