I'm almost done with that episode but it shares something in common with the Jamie Lee Curtis episode and I'm not exactly thrilled with it.

They uh... they don't really talk with the guests this time around. They're just focused on playing the game, which is neat and all in its own way, but what made previous Guest Grumps episodes great was talking about their careers. Anyone's career! Some guests were like "wait so you guys make a living doing this" and they'd get into it, or Arin & Dan would ask about the guest's career and such.

I love the idea of them landing these two guests but it was otherwise phoned in?

JLC is a great get and that episode was awesome.

    Jacob Anderson tho.

He was awesome. Wasn't that the Wheel of Fortune episode? I actually have no idea what he's from.

Finn was great too. But there's something about JLC.

Game of Thrones, primarily. He's Gray Worm.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

Jacob Anderson plays Gray Worm on Game of Thrones and also is a rapper.

Ah that'd explain it. I'm one of those heathens who hasn't started watching Game of Thrones.

On the flip side, I get very annoyed when people try and have interviews during gaming sessions. Up up down down does this at times and I don't like it. Either interview them or let's watch a game being played with funny commentary. Or both, but make them separate videos.

To this day Grant Kirkhope was the best mix of that cuz hey who knew that it's a lot easier to talk about someone's career when you're playing it.

Yeah I get that. Like the space between "react to the game in front of you" and "conduct planned interview" is just conversation, and it's what I was hoping for.

Is he still associated with JonTron?

Really not liking people using JonTrons gifs and jokes although I stopped calling it out a while ago.

It feels like people just want to push the racism under the rug.

I don't know who Grant Kirkhope is, but Jirard Khalil, aka The Completionist, is another content creator. He's been on Grumpcade a couple of times, he played Sonic 2 and Knuckles with Arin and Ross, and played TMNT: Turtles in Time with ProJared and Ross. His Completionist videos are, effectively, game reviews where he finishes a game 100%, talks about the game and the experience of 100%ing it, and then offers a rating. He also has a Let's Play series called Super Beard Bros.

I brought him up because Tom, Lamie Lee Curtis' son, works with Super Beard Bros and can be heard in some episodes. It was a neat coincidence.

I'm sorry I know the both of them, I was referring to Kadoken's post where he said that "he is still associated with JonTron", but the previous post had two people's names mentioned. :) I assume Jirard.

Grant Kirkhope is awesome at music.

Either. His ass doesn’t deserve exposure from either association or at all. 99% of his videos are non-political but he doesn’t deserve the clicks that give him money and drives kids down the alt-right and Sargon hole from the other vids he’s been in with those types.

If he just had a shitty opinion on immigration I’d be like that sucks but whatever but he doubles down with other shit, repeats the white genocide lie, and repeats alt-right talking points of needing a white nation.

I can understand that viewpoint. I just disable ads whenever I watch his videos (enable them for Game Grumps and RedLetterMedia). They are usually pretty funny. It's amazing his view count though. I mean that FlexTape video alone skyrocketed to 40M views. That's insane.

It shouldn't be crazy to me that he has as many subscribers as he still does but it kind of is.
Also, don't take this as me disrespecting you or people like you for watching a guy I find problematic. With a lot of stuff, people like you who know this stuff already aren't the concern. It's people or literal children who don't have knowledge of the shitty bits or people who are inadvertently playing a reconciliatory role by just kind of ignoring that stuff and actively giving the guy exposure. It kind of goes back to the question of it is okay to pay or watch things made by bad people like Roman Polanski or Brian Singer. Cause technically while they do get a large part of the check and receive royalties the rest of the cast, the other parts of the production team and the producers themselves didn't engage in it so are you withholding money from them for one guy? The difference in this case for me is that the money is going straight to an asshole.

Nah I get it. I didn't feel like it was a personal attack. I also don't judge those who just actively avoid him altogether. I get it and understand it.

YouTube's algorithms are completely fucked up and if watching his videos pulls you down the alt-right video tunnel then they've absolutely fucked it up. It doesn't help that he's been pretty vocal on it, which causes the alt-right chuds to watch his videos which causes the related videos to be garbage.

I would never want my kids to watch those videos. Unfortunately it's hard to parent just about anything regarding online nowadays. There was that recent scare of kids videos that were teaching kids how to commit suicide too. At least I saw it mentioned in all the parenting groups I'm a part of.

My brother loves JonTron and he's way more liberal than I am. I've told him about the controversy but he just kinda shrugs and says that's why he doesn't dig into famous people's political opinions, which I guess I understand. Trying to keep track of the political opinions of every entertainer gets pretty exhausting, and not everyone has the time or resources for it. I have this site as a good resource for knowing these things, but he's way too busy between work and school to keep track of this shit.

If my brother was at risk of buying into racism and alt-right garbage I'd feel differently about him watching JonTron.

I wanted to feel the same way about separating JonTron's shitty opinions from his perfomances and public persona, and then immediately after I said something along those same lines on these boards, he started posting his views on his channel and showed up on a stream hanging out with Sargon. To my understanding he's cut that out of his channel now, but that's when I decided I had to drop his stuff from my life. It's a lot harder to separate a person's private thoughts with their public output if they make them the same thing.

I think it's also important to give credit to Matt & Ryan for stepping up their game with some super generic thumbnails to go along with the Windows Movie Maker opening credits for each of these non-GG vids.

Today’s Franklin plays anime video was great. It’s pretty short and the character isn’t as obnoxious as the other guy. Plus it features a short Prayer Break.

I understand being annoyed that the content isn’t what they want. I don’t get raising a stink about it, though.

This may have gone over better if they were doing multiple daily uploads.
