A reminder that today is the last full day to get in on April's Humble Monthly games, which includes Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, God Eater 2, and Mafia III. The other games will be revealed afterwards.
Oh yeah, that reminds me - I already have all three of those games above, so anyone who wants my Humble codes for them, let me know.

And it looks like it is a permanent free copy as long as you activate it by Saturday, which is a very good price for one of my favorite games!
It's also one of my favorite games! To be fair, it is rather daunting to get into at first. There are a lot of in-game systems at work along with a sometimes confusing UI with tons of different buttons and toggles. But if you like character based role playing/strategy games, history of that time period, and/or enjoy story told through text (usually well written, especially with Supernatural Events enabled) then IMO it's well worth the time to plunge into the deep end of the pool that is Crusader Kings II . Arumba and quill18 both have great YouTube walkthroughs and tutorials for new players.
As far as DLC goes, again it's pretty daunting as there's so much, but I would say the top DLC to get would be: Way of Life, Old Gods, Reaper's Due, Monks and Mystics (I highly enjoyed the secret cults and devil worshipping popes, but YMMV) and/or DLC focused on the factions that interest you
Oh, and it looks like all the CKII DLC is half off.
Feels like they're about to announce a Crusader Kings III :0

So, with Bery's list of suggestions for the spring side of this month's Backlog challenge, I thought I'd provide a varied example for the other half, that of comedic nature.

Or just a final dlc for II, as far as I know they still have one to release before saying goodbye to this game.
Yeah, but they've one more DLC to release before saying goodbye for years now.
I'll believe Paradox has finally ceased development of CK2 DLCs when Paradox itself officially announces it. And even then, I might remain skeptical until CK3 is released.
Crusader Kings II might actually be my all time favorite game. I'm a Paradox fanboy since the Hearts of Iron 2 days, so that's part of it. I've never played a game of it and not really really enjoyed it. It's up there with Dwarf Fortress as one of those things that straddles the line of "game" and "story generation engine" in the best ways. And you learn while you play! I know the names of random counties and villages all over Europe because I've fought horrific wars against my character's own blood relatives over them!
If you're going to buy DLC, I would probably start with Old Gods since it gets you the most bang for your buck IMO. Earlier start date and the ability to play as Vikings is a better package that most other DLCs in my opinion.
Yeah, Koei Tecmo is basically the big maker of those styles of game. The Berserk and Attack on Titan games are supposed to be like that, I think? Also Arslan.

Ordered a new cable so I can get a wired connection into this room instead of having to rely on the shitty steam link and power line adaptors. If everything goes to plan (hahahaha) I could have pc in my room tomorrow evening with a stable, speedy internet connection.
Played Dead by Daylight for eight hours today. Playing Friday the 13th: The Game tomorrow. Those games are getting most of my time lately.
I will recommend the F2P game Traum though. It's like a story-driven, short (about two hours to complete) SNES-looking RPG that I played through the other day. Kinda feels like Jacob's Ladder or kinda Stanley Kubrick like. It's not bad and was worth the couple hours.
I also put a few hours into Don't Starve the other day & it's fun (once you get the hang of it) but having to start all over when you die turned me off of it. Maybe there's other modes and stuff though.

This war of mine looks like it hits too close to the realities of war for me to ever play it, even if I can acknowledge the craft, artistry, and intent.
I remember some website interviewed real war survivors and they said the game was unrealistically bleak, that in real life people were helping each other survive as opposed to the game which is a pretty dour time.

Similarly, the developers of Verdun toured (and modeled the game after) the actual battlefield. They also worked with the crew from The Great War YT channel.

Excluding all the other Koei Tecmo/Omega Force titles like Warriors All-Stars, Samurai Warriors 4-II, Dragon Quest Heroes, etc, etc? Not really clones, no. The closest thing would probably be Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Senran Kagura Estival Versus and Valkyrie Drive -Bhikkhuni-. There are a few kinda similar hack and slash games with large crowds - Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, for example, and the third and fourth Dead Rising games lean heavy on that style.

Can confirm: Pixies are never to be trusted...especially pixelated ones..who knows what dark schemes they weave? (Probably involve gifting porny VNs)

Because Koei Tecmo, like a lot of console-orientated Japanese companies, doesn't quite get how PC game pricing, sales or discounts work.
