Man, this game is awesome. It really helps pass the boring days at work.
Also, I'm on B4F and those wolves are raping me. I can kill them, but they always take out at least one member of my party. *sigh*
I liked fighting the wolves, I loved that level. Fenrir on lvl5 on the other hand... fucks me in the ass. Time for more leveling!
Well, Fenrir just did a good old mudstomp on my neck. It was a big old rape party, he invited all his fucking wolf friends and they didn't bring any lube.

ROFL... sorry, that sucks but that comment was genius!
Binding Fenrir really really helps. Also killing all the Skolls in the south side of the room helps too. I've heard stories of people being able to walk past Fenrir to get to B6F and then heal up, but that didn't work for me.
Is anyone else having trouble with sleep mode? A few times I've closed the DS and when I came back it was off. Seems to only happen when I'm in the labyrinth and it might only be if I have Stalker active. I'm not sure if it's the game or my (ooooold) DS... I just need to know if replacing my DS will help before I go out and buy a new one. Not a battery issue either.
You mean, when you close your screen the game still acts like it's still on? So it drains the battery?
Have you tried hitting X and getting into the menu screen then closing it? Also, when you close it, the green light should start blinking; Letting you know that it's asleep.

EO really sucks at the battery juice, more so then any other DS game I own. It's probably just running out and dying on you.
edit: If you have a fatty DS you should replace it for a lite anyway. They are worlds better.
Well, I never would have thought that a game like this would be made in modern times.
I'm the biggest sucker for exactly this type of RPG (the first few Wizardry games are among my favorite RPGs of all time), and this one actually has graph paper built in!
I just started (running around the first strata) and I have to say, just from what I've seen so far, god bless Atlus. I am absolutely amazed that this type of dungeon crawl would ever see the light of day, especially on the freaking DS.
I have nothing bad to say so far. Please tell me if I'm setting myself up for disappointment later into the game.

I mean I'll close it, the light will start blinking, but at some point it stops blinking and the DS turns off. But then I can turn it on and play for a couple hours so it's not like the battery is fully drained. I haven't tried putting it into the menu screen first though.
If you have a fatty DS you should replace it for a lite anyway. They are worlds better.
Yeah, but like everything else that is better than something I have, it costs teh moneyz. I'd be more inclined to replace a "broken" DS than to just buy a new one because it's shinier or something.

Instead of cluttering up this thread, you wanna take this shit to PMs? I'LL FUCKING CUT YOU, BITCH!
Seriously though, let's keep this discussion out of this thread and continue to talk about EO.
So, I guess I'm going to have to grind to get past Fenrir? Or does anyone have some tips (I saw the one about taking out the other wolves beforehand, I'll try that too)?

Doubled. It's not just brighter, it's a better resolution.
And you're retarded.

Has anyone rested their characters yet? I was thinkiong of doing it but I always wimp out at the last second. If I do I'll do them one at a time and powerlevel them but it still seems like a lot of work.
Do the stat-up skills (HP UP, ATK UP, etc) give you a bonus to your stat value, or do they work by increasing your level-up bonus? In other words, do you lose out on stat points by adding stat-up skills later rather than sooner?
Yeah, and make sure you have a revive read to go when fighting Fenrir. Believe me, you'll need it. I had two medics (which helped... alot!) and had them spamming cure on the front two guys; The problem is that if they didn't lose any health, it wouldn't give them health (obviously) AND you lose the MP for it.

I rested my landsknecht once. It took quite a while to build him back up. The way I figure it though, the sooner you rest the easier it'll be to regain those lost levels.

Wait, what?
"Resting" a character at the explorer's guild will reset his skill points, at the cost of 10 levels. If you rest a character who's level 30, it will become level 20. It's faster to level from 20-30 than to level from 60-70, so if you know you've screwed up your build, you should probably rest as soon as possible. (You can't rest before level 30, though.)
Is it just me, or are b7 and b8 alot easier to survive in than b6? I still can't beat those bird things, but I can beat the scorpions and the cutters, and I HATE those status-inducing blobs, and there seems to be less of them on the lower floors.
Getting down to the 5th floor, exploring a shitload, and then realizing you have no Warp Wire to teleport back up to save quickly sucks, big time. Walking alllll the way back up took FOREVER. Let this be a lesson: always have a warp wire.
Also, Boosting Poison on an FOE feels so good, my level 13-14 team took out a Stalker in 2-3 turns thanks to a boosted poison doing 248 damage.

I picked this game up today, having NO idea what it was about at all. I saw it on the shelf, saw familiar artwork and Atlus' logo, and figured I'd jump on in.
I lost three team members on my second battle in the game.
The dungeon exploration is incredible. It took like 5 minutes of this to get me hooked.
If you press Y during battle, it'll show you all the buffs that are currently active on that character.
Oh, that's what that Y button screen is supposed to list. Genius. Thank you!
When is my poor Survivalist Youmu going to get herself a better bow? Everybody else is upgraded but Youmu is still stuck with a Wood Bow.
I think I had to go all the way down to the 3rd floor before I could get a better one in the store. Besides, isn't Youmu supposed to be using swords?
Mine is the Enamel Bow. It's made from a horn so I either got it from the Ragelope or the giant bull FOE.
Or Fenders, which are just a normal enemy and are much easier to kill.
If you want a shortsword-quality upgrade, you'll need to sell some drops from B3F. There's a quest that'll give you one as a reward for unlocking it in the shop.

I can definitely vouch for the DSL over the DSP when it comes to this game. The forest looks beautiful on the DSL; far more colorful.
So I finally beat Fenrir with my LV15-16 party. I had tried earlier with a LV18 or so party and got demolished, but my new party with more careful skill point allotment fared much better. My advice for party building:
Defenders seem to me to be a must have. Their Party Defense+ skill can be learned early and is noticeably more powerful than the Defense Up song that Troubadors have. It makes FOE battles (including Fenrir) substantially easier. The front row defend skill (which is a prerequisite for the previous skill) is also very useful - when it activates, it's akin to your Defender using the Defend command for everyone in the front row.
Medics are also a must have. I had gotten rid of my previous medic due to his uselessness in the back row, but this time, I decided to stick my medic in the front row and found her to be much more useful. Yeah, she doesn't have the greatest attack power even in the front, but it's enough to kill off already weakened enemies and thanks to my Defender she has decent staying power. And once she gets Caduceus, I imagine she'll be dealing damage with the best of them.
Alchemists are the final must have class in my book. Their elemental attacks deal great damage for FOEs and against harder random encounters. Their more advanced elemental attacks cost a ton of TP, but can be invaluable either damaging every enemy on the screen or dealing extra damage to a single target. Poison is extremely useful early on, able to deal 200+ damage a turn against certain FOEs. Plus some enemies are resistant to physical attacks so a magic attacker is invaluable.
After those three, I'd say Survivalist is the most useful class. Fast warrior + more free turns for the win. I focused on unlocking the advanced bow skills early on and I must say that their two highest level bow skills are fantastic for FOE fights - one deals 2 regular damage hits for 8TP (and apparently 3 hits when maxed out) and the other shoots a barrage of arrows into the air that don't hit for 2 turns, but when they do hit, they deal superb damage (like more than triple regular damage).
After that, I'm not sure what to do with the fifth slot. I've got a Troubador in there who I've been working out maxing out the TP restore song and though he's not worthless, I can't help but feel that I could be doing more with the slot. Right now at skill LV5, his song is only restoring 1TP a turn so I assume it restores a % of max TP and my characters' max TP are too low to restore more than 1 point a turn. I'll give him a bit longer, but I may end up kicking him out for a Ronin or Hexer when I unlock those or maybe a Dark Hunter.
Land-guy (focusing on axe skills)
Dark Hunter (focusing on whip skills)
Alchemist
Troubador (for defense and speed boosts, trying to unlock the TP restore song)
Medic (pumping his Curer stats)
I find that my Medic, Dark Hunter, and Alchemist do what they do very well and I definitely want them in my party. My Land-whatever is just the generic heavy-hitter, I could take him or leave him, I plan on replacing him with a Ronin eventually anyway. Does anyone think I should trade him or my Troubador in for a Protector? Or even a Survivalist? Also, how/when will I know if I've screwed up with my dudes' skill points?
My party looks like this:
Ladnsknecht: Heavy Hitter, crush does wonders at level 10.
Dark Hunter: It works better if you focus on binding arms early on, cuffs gives a good damage bonus anyway and it really helps when dealing with most FOEs.
Survivalist: I LOVE trickery, it's been a lifesaver in many difficult FOE fights.
Alchemist: Nuker, I'm still amazed at how powerful magic is in this game.
Medic: Pretty essential, as has already been said.
I'm currently training up to beat the Wyvern on B8, and trying to get money for a bunch of shiny new weapons that I just unlocked. That new Axe is +55 atk!
Both times I've used Boost Poison, it's hit the FOE.. hmm..
Boosting skills increases the effective skill level (I think the level is doubled, but I'm not sure). In the case of poison, that probably increases the chance to hit. As far as I know though, boosting does not inherently reduce miss rate.

I had a new one by level BF2. You have to sell some body part. I forget which tho. I think it was a fang? I know I got it on BF2.
