In order to produce three units (1 Carrier and 2 Infantry), you need to land all three of your Infantry (since each is Production 1). Ground units are also produced on the planet that they are built from, and aren't automatically put into space. So you're going to end up with 2 Carriers in space and 5 Infantry on the ground.

Game status update will be posted in a few minutes.

This is incorrect; infantry can produce from space.

Further, units that use Production whilst in space can immediately place the produced units in space or on any friendly planet.

    Rule ref: 59.4

For the action in question then, 1 infantry at most could be Produced in space.
    If it matters.
I don't see picking the infantry back up again being a huge impost later with two carriers there.
Hmm, yeah. When I read that section of the rules reference for that post, I was only thinking of stuff like the Saar's racial Space Docks. But with the streamlined rules of TI4e, Arborec Infantry should be able to Produce from space. At least there's nothing that explicitly disallows it.

It also seems like the Production in Space is limited by the Production in Space, whereas the Production on planets just has to be produced on any or a planet that has a producing unit on it.
For instance, if you have 1 Production on two planets each, you can produce 2 GF on either planet or one on both, but if you have 1 Production on a planet and one in space, then you can only produce one GF in space or on a friendly planet without a production unit on it.
You can't deploy both GFs from orbit.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification. Figured it'd be good to have that info before any potential trades started flying around (even if they don't materialize at all).

I think that's everyone for Politics?
Place command counter in Corneeq/Resculon. Move in one Carrier and 2 ground forces, land one ground force on each planet.

    @Zombie Hero for next.

@El Skid If you are in financial need, the Bank of the Hacan is open. 4TG for the Jol-nar promissory, for instance?

For now we are happy with acquiring these things you call technologies... we understand they can be quite useful and are keen on acquiring one so we can see for ourselves.

We do appreciate your kind offer, though, wealthy space Lions!

We wish you only the best. /bow. Should you change your mind and desire 5tg (or, put another way: an extra dreadnought in addition to your plans), you know where to find us. Elsewise, enjoy your technological enlightening.

They did. They traded it to the Sardakk, who can in turn trade it away if they would like.

It's resource +2 number of units.

Which took me 2/3 of the last game to realize, but you wouldn't otherwise be able to build your flagship.

The Creuss system is where Diplomacy got played. The primary ability of it is that it puts a counter from all players (except the person who plays it; there is only a Creuss counter in there because this turn is when they activated it to move in) in the system, so nobody else can activate it. It's super useful to lock down an important system for a round. It also refreshes the system that it is played in.

The dreadnought is not headed towards you, I assure you. I didn't even take fighters in the carrier that went that direction. It's solely out because I need some muscle to protect my trade caravans. No hostile intentions from it at all.

Ah. I thought we were fish. Doing some research on my notes, I found out that our species isn't even called the Jol-Nar! We are called the Hylar, and we occupy the life tree of Thorbardin. Has anyone seen the hammer of Kharas? Actually just kidding its in Derkin's Tomb. So there you have it, we are dwarves.

I have a friend that just bought TI3, but I would much prefer to play TI4 and seriously thinking about throwing down the cash to do so, but that would likely invalidate their purchase. I never played either.

I guess I would need a group to play with before dropping that cash though. Anyone have any experience with any tabletop simulator modules for this?

I’ve heard good things about the TTS module for TI4, but haven’t played it on there myself. I will say that the physical copy is totally worth it, if you’ve got a semi-regular group to play it with. If two of my friends didn’t already own it, it’d likely be my next board game purchase.

I really want to buy it too. It seems like an awful idea, due to having kids we can't start game night before 7:30pm and I doubt we could get the thing done before its time to sleep. But I want it now. Argh. Going to buy it and stare at it, thinking about what might have been.

The thing that actually triggered me to say that is that racial techs don't cost extra to buy and are therefore actually usable, so I was super happy I got to buy my supercarriers and head-roleplay BSG.

There's just a very long list of changes that are minor, for the better, and generally simplify unnecessary complexity while improving balance and increasing the frequency of interesting decisions.

Some random examples as I'm sitting here typing:
    • Warfare secondary has been changed from something completely useless that no one ever took to something useful
    • Secret objectives are reduced to one point instead of 2, have a much more even spread of difficulty, and you can obtain multiple secret objectives
    • Race balance has been improved across the board (Yssaril used to be horribly overpowered as a specific example)
    • The way Trade works is massively improved, letting you trade with multiple players, rewarding you for adjacency, giving you more leeway (especially when paired with the new promissory notes) to make deals
    • The tech tree is simplified and the techs rebalanced in a way that I think is an improvement even though it's not perfect. Many old techs were just flat not worth getting.
    • Ship balance has been improved, with Carriers that were too good nerfed and Dreadnoughts that were too bad buffed

It's hugely dependent on your group, how seriously they take trying to learn it ahead of time, how everyone plays, and a ton of other factors. I've had one game finish as fast as 5 hours. I've had another (in which every player had played either TI4 or TI3) that took 10 hours. I've had a couple that went in between.
