Oh shit. I'm doing the Ashes of Ariandel DLC and I ran into a building and saw one of those crow monster things and killed it a bit too quickly and it was a NPC. Uh... did I do a dumb? Am I going to miss out on something now?

Well that was weird. I ran the Remaster once after installing, and it messed with my Windows mouse speed. It didn't do it again after running the program again but still.
Last time I played Dark Souls I did a skill build with a zweihander and a longsword, this time in remastered I'm looking at going more of a full dex build. Planning to get the Uchigatana, anything else I should definitely bee line for?
Dex build? DS1? Great Scythe. Oh and Baldur Side Sword.

Nearly ready to cap off NG and go into NG+ to get the last miracle, just need to poke through the wiki some to make sure I'm not forgetting anything. Probably gonna push this character into NG++ to get the weapons achievement, then start an int character for the sorceries cheevo, since some are locked behind Griggs and he won't sell to you unless you're smart.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Yeah, seriously. It doesn't take THAT much int to know which end of the rod fires the magic missiles.
Okay thread. I need some Souls advice because I'm returning to the series after such a long break, I don't remember a fucking thing.
First off Dark Souls Remastered.
I bought it and started a play through with the vague memory that Pyromancy and Dexterity go well together because Dexterity reduces casting time right? So I killed the merchant and got the Uchigatana and my Dex is at 20. Haven't been to Blight Town yet, just in the sewers at the moment. I didn't fuck up did I?
The amount of time dexterity shaves off spell casts is really minimal, not really worth investing in for that alone. However Pyro goes with everything so why not. The best dexterity weapon is personal choice, I prefer the furysword myself to the balder side sword. Another good option is one of the rapiers as they do some serious damage. Since your only damage stat is going to be dexterity you may want to invest in intelligence to 25 or faith to 30 to get either crystal magic weapon or sunlight blade.
I keep getting invaded by people with fancy trick weapons that want to use flashy special moves, and they have their bows and throwing knives or bombs and dart back and forth like a ferret on coke, but once thy move into range of my dude with simple sword and board, I just block and side step and then while they try to roll around me the light attack of my Dark Sword still hits them between rolls no matter how they try to roll and they end up dying.

Holy crap, another Balder Side Sword, this time on my base-100 item discovery STR character... I'll have a friend pass it to my DEX character, but wow.
Edit: Hmm, just soloed Quelag with a Zweihander, first try ever. Wasn't even human. I think killing her literally 60+ times for souls & humanity on my completionist character was pretty good practice!
The remaster seems more fun than the first time. After fiddling with nvidia control panel to fix the microstutters the frame rate is pretty much perfect which meant I one shot the Capra Demon because the frame rate didn't tank upon entering the door.
I was so happy I instantly made a new char and beat his ass again. The separate jump key is great too.

NG+ has been kicked off, got the miracles achievement, have the lordvessel again. Gonna need to start farming a bunch of titanite to make all the +10 weapons to turn into boss weapons. Starting to ponder if I wanna do a run through II and III once I've gotten all the remaster cheevos. I never have managed to care enough to bother with the NG++ needed to get the various caster cheevos in II.

Used some speedrun-like tricks to dodge a lot of enemies and mainly fight bosses for today's new character. I made it to Anor Londo having defeated only the required 3 bosses. Dodged painting guardians, gargoyles, silver knights, sentinels, batwing demons, then riposted an archer to someplace Sullyvahn's lackeys get to mop up later. After that the boss door was just one stairway skip away.
I decided to try Ornstein and Smough with another player for the first time, ever. It turned out to be rather easy. Being used to keeping an eye on both but not actually having to be very judicious about openings means they go down fast, especially with a Zweihander +5 and Homing Soul Mass. Ornstein bought it within 45 seconds, and Ultra-Smough barely lasted longer. They're a lot more squishy than I ever realized, at least when battered with six feet of steel and a magic shotgun. Actually getting to be aggressive changes everything about that fight.
I'm a little sad now, though I shouldn't be. I've got two other characters, at least one of which will get a proper fight. Plenty of other save slots left besides.

For I it is really just a matter of running through the game as fast as possible to get Sif and Gwyns souls. You can get all the magic on your first playthrough if you are willing to grind out the souls.
Is remastered having some issues with the messages? Been able to summon for coop but not seen any messages.
There was some patch with no patch notes a couple of days ago. Ever since, the only player messages to appear have been from the game's cache. Players have been getting a lot of stuttering, too. Bandai Namco screwed something up.
So how does level scaling work in Dark Souls 3? I had some people help me with Midir and Gael and they could take some hits. I try to help someone with Gael and I got killed in two hits. Was the person I was helping just low level and I was being scaled down to them?

IIRC III goes by a combination of soul level and upgrade level of gear.
:edit: that said it could be that the guy you got summoned by was in some level of NG+

I fought Gael on just NG+1, I didn't think about. I guess he could have been on NG+6 or 7.

And there we go, Knight's Honor get. Probably should have just dumped some levels into int back in NG so I don't have to start a new guy for the sorceries achievement, but too late now.

Oooh, good, I thought was something I did.
I've had a pretty easy time of it after bouncing off the game when DS1 first came out. It's massive how much knowing the basics of the game helps out. 3/4 done with Lordvessel fights, I angered the... Ceaseless Discharge last night and it smushed me in one.

That fight has a really easy instant win trigger. You should look it up if you want.

I have never managed to pull it off though.
Alternatively, there's a spot where he can only use a single arm slam on you, always at the same spot, and you just roll back once to dodge before slashing it up. Repeat until dead.

I just did it first try for the first time in 4 years lol. I guess I may have just been lucky though.
Ugh, sitting at SL 58 with a +15 BSS outside O&S, just trying to get some co-ops out of the way so I can pick up the Warriors of Sunlight covenant. These fights are just going so badly. One fight I got caught by super O's bullshit spear grab, another the host got buttbombed by super S right before we would've killed him, and this last one, the host seemed to be kind of laggy, super O would warp around a little. So I got caught by a stomp and then he charged across the room at me as I was trying to get space for a heal.
Edit: Maybe O&S isn't a great spot to try to do the co-op since it's a PVP (and hacker) hotbed and anyone has trouble staying human long enough to summon anyone.
I just ended up tanking some fireballs and chopping up Ceaseless.
Yeah, O&S is a real bad spot for invasions. I did some co-op there though and found that I always had to be the one to off-tank whoever we weren't killing and then it was a complete crapshoot as to whether the host survived the second phase.

Sorcerous run goes well, sunbro'd Quelaag until I hit 50 int, then I unlocked the funhouse and took my stack of humanity into the catacombs, only atrophied four of it before getting the rite of kindling. (two to dickwraith, two to falls, for anyone keeping score). Time to go slap humanity into fires until I run out, then go try and free Logan.

That's all there is to it. You can pester the little painter but that was just hinting at the Ringed City and how painted worlds come about I suppose.
