So it took a second set of water ninja abilities (RIP ice orbs), but I'm now sub-30 Marilis (with good dualcast luck, but with room to tighten by swapping some stuff around). With no chain, no Tidus, no Bart, no Yuffie USB, no Yuffie LD.
Typing whole thing out on phone is a pain, key pieces: OK pUSB, Edge BSB + LD, Yuffie BSB (instant imperil, not +water) + Glint, Penelo USB.
And then after typing all that out I realized Shadow with dualcast would obviously still be better, swapped him in, and got 26s first try.
So anyway, Marilis, Ixion, Siren all sub 30. 5 to go, but fire crystals are a USEFUL one, so that's nice.
Yeah when other bosses stonewall me I just farm Maliris for Fire Crystals/weekly quests/monthly quests.
Had the same thing happen on Hades; invisible pixel, but couldn't beat Black Cauldron and wiped. I wish I could save state until about halfway through the fight. I need more practice for the dispel and later, but having to redo the first 50% takes so long.

Yeah, Hades dispel is a giant pain, because his time to cast after breaking 50% varies so much. I can beat him, but it takes a lot of effort and patience.
Also, just realized the three 4* I can sub-30 are the ninja element ones. Because of COURSE it is.
I appreciate the extremely scripted nature of Isgebind when repeatedly grinding that fight: I know exactly when the big hits are coming, so I know exactly when to put up blink. Isgebind is even polite enough to give visual cues (takeoff and landing). Grinding Ixion can be an exercise in frustration, because I'm using a Edge SSB spam strategy and it makes a massive difference whether any given attack is the physical dispel AOE vs a magical AOE.
Hahaha. Jumpstart vs Chaos was great fun. He's vulnerable to Interrupt, so I fielded a team with a pair of Celerity users, one with a BSB that inflicts Interrupt on entry and CMD1 (Luneth), and one with an Powerchaining unique, a BSB with Interrupt command, and Northern Cross (Lightning).
Chaos performed a grand total of 3 actions before dying. It was glorious.
Chaos isn't nearly as much of a jerk with scripted actions as he's been in the past. I remember in other FF1/Dissidia events, he'd have a couple of scripted Mass Stops, while the JS and even the Crystal Tower didn't give him any of that. He might still have a Mass Stop, but it's a rare ability rather than a guaranteed threshold ability.
I'm not sure that Jump Start Chaos even got to take one action against me. I spammed party instacast from Raijin and blew him apart with water chain and RW Cloud USB. Resist water? Pffft.
Not stable in the slightest ATM, but room to tighten since I have no 4* wind magicite level 99 yet.
Amusingly enough this is actually an identical team to my previous run, just shifting orders some, the +wind Fang SSB item is slightly higher ATK, and my fun new USB/AOSB for Luneth. Ended up using all FOUR (BSB for stat boost, OSB for single turn damage, USB, AOSB) in the successful run. Didn't expect that.

Who are you using for DPS? I've got the wind chain and a stacked Luneth but I could only manage 40s.

About to take off, will post whole team when home, but key pieces:
Edge USB0 LD 2x wind ninja 2x wind equip
Luneth everything LD 2x wind equip the 3 hit no jump, and 4 hit jump abilities
OK pUSB entrust bot
Penelo USB
Shelke entrust bot
I don't remember RMs for everyone, but I ended up wrath wrath entrust on top of MM, 3 hit, RW, USB as first three turns for the two of them. Edge held on until after abyssal maw, I only entrusted Penelo once otherwise everything was into Luneth.
Also, quick question for when I land - is Cloud USB -> Fire/Ice Samurai abilities worth looking into at all, or just a waste of time because they can't dualcast?
Also, quick question for when I land - is Cloud USB -> Fire/Ice Samurai abilities worth looking into at all, or just a waste of time because they can't dualcast?
Guess it depends on what you need him to be doing. He could probably do a lot under a Fire or Ice Chain.
Can't he be using Blazing Twinstrike for Fire, tho?

It'd probably do more damage, though the samurai combo might beat using Lifesiphon.
OTOH, you lose the critchanc benefit from Warring Flame, since USB Cloud has 100% crits. Possibly better off doubling up on Quadstrikes or going with Smoldering Moon and Quadstrike.
Yeah, that's what I figured. No fire chain, do have an ice chain but Ayame is in the picture and gets enIce and dualcast so I highly doubt Cloud with USB would outdo that, and I don't have the orbs for a second copy ATM.
Anyway, wind team:
Main was a lv 90 tiamat.
So I have a lot going for me there: +wind mag weapons, 7* +wind spear, two +wind armors. Edge has Doppelganger, Luneth has BSB, OSB, USB, AOSB. I could throw Earth resist on shelke and OK but I was lazy.
Order I remember:
* OK just does wind magic 100% of the time, except to cast Eblan after the first abyssal maw (and any subsequent ones, I guess) to re-establish haste.
* Luneth: Cyclone Bolt, Wall, USB, BSB, then USB if it's close to 15s since the last one, OSB if not, Cyclone Bolt if not in the past 2 turns, Aerial Dive if so. I think I only cast it once, so I may switch to Ripping Blast for every Cyclone Bolt after the first. Time AOSB to before burst mode expires. It WON'T kill, you'll need another OSB after.
* OK: pUSB, wrath, entrust to Penelo, Tiamat, wrath, entrust to Luneth ad infinium
* Penelo: Shell, curada ad infinium, USB when you can. You may not need the heal, but blink will avoid a potential interrupt. You hypothetically could have this entrust go to Edge, I think?
* Shelke: wrath, wrath, entrust to Luneth. Shelke is slightly faster, so she'll go first on IC3. Then just keep feeding meter to Luneth
If you want Type-0 stuff, probably wait for the next event? There are two Type-0 events in the known future, and still no Type-0 Torment yet. Next event has a banner with King USB, Cinque USB, and Rem USB, all of which are pretty darn good for DPS.

Yeah, I'm basically just thinking "what's a useful type-0 to draw on" given I've only got one relic for it right now.
I'm intending to make a single pull for Cinque or Rem's stuff (second shot at Rem's USB...).
I will probably get either LMRs only for people who I don't have relics for or King nonsense, as per usual with this sort of thing.
I want Cinque's stuff since her DPS is pretty amazing, but I'll probably get King's lightning stuff since the game seems to love drowning me in lightning relics.

Finally managed a Tiamat win after about 5 days of failing. I hate how time consuming magicite are.
Outside of Lightning's USB2, LMR2, and Noel's USB2, that looks like a pretty boring banner, tbh.
Though, there might be something to combining Lightning's USBs so she can grab the cast speed buff from her EX mode. That would let her toss out at least two Brave overflow hits before Brave mode runs out, and she'd likely get just enough meter at the end to use her ASB.
Still, the biggest takeaway from this is that Dagger's Dagger is no longer in a realm of its own when it comes to silly naming. :P
Eponymous character names are awesome. Lightning is my son's favorite character, because Lightning rides the lightning while lightninging the lightning with her lightning.
Proudclad Multiplayer was fairly painless, as multiplayer fights go. Stack DEF buffs, bring good healers, equip lightning resist, and carry as much lightning damage as you can.

What is the bonus mythril supposed to be for?
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."

One good thing about magicites - I'm pretty much set for any 220 boss since I can just pull the appropriate elemental team, change the Entrust bot's abilities to breaks, and swap in the right resistance accessories. It saves so much time in party prep.
Is the new Dark skill useful? It looks a lot like the Offers, and people sandbag the Offers pretty hard. I might be able to have Riku or Sephiroth use it instead of Lifesiphon, though.
When do we (if ever) get the dark versions of Gigant Swing/Blast Burn? I keep looking at Cloud's BSB3 as if it's good, but not on it's own. It kind of needs the dark Heavy Physical abilities to make it worthwhile.
Evil Swing and Dark Impact come out with the FFXII event "Soaring the Skies"
That event happened in February 2018 in Japan, so we should expect roughly an August release here. Counting the events on Enlir's spreadsheet puts it about 16 weekly events ahead.
...I really wish they had just released all of them with the KH event. It would've made a lot of sense, since the entire reason for releasing the first batch back then was Cloud's BSB3.
Reminder: due to the wonky scheduling, FF1 events and multiplayer are closing Friday at the evening changeover time. Might want to get those done tonight or tomorrow, if you haven't already!
FF13 and the renewal dungeons close next Wednesday. And you'll still have eight days after that to finish up the Crystal Tower.
This bonus mythril, plus the 10-15 I think I can scrape from the renewal dungeons, is kinda making me want to do an unscheduled pull.
But there's just. so. many. banners. to pull on right now, plus the II banners tomorrow, and we should be getting the next element one soon too right?
Decisions, decisions.

I've found myself kind of really unenthused over the past couple weeks to do much of anything. Part of it has been the way they've really honed in on how to construct their banners. There's basically a 50% chance or greater of getting something that actively gets me sad or at least I would say 'meh' to (of which maybe 10-15% of that is something that does technically objectively make me stronger), 25% chance of getting something I technically wanted but doesn't really make me any stronger, and maybe 25% chance at most of getting something I wanted and makes me stronger. So I don't have fun pulling, even during festivals.
And 4* Magicite takes 10 minutes per attempt and still sometimes 2/5ths attempts fail and it's the only content that matters. I've got a strong enough roster to sleepwalk through the rest of the weekly content either on autobattlings, shoving instant called RWs down on things, shoving RW USB onto something, and maybe for the 220s paying attention and calling Wall and still walking over it, so it's not really even interesting to do anything below Magicite.
It's the literal definition of sunk cost fallacy but I'm semi-forcing myself to keep playing because I know that historically I -entirely- work on inertia. If I stop even for a little bit, I may never come back, but I've spent enough money recently that I'd feel bad pulling that ripcord...
I have come back to things I've got quiescent on/reduced activity, but usually only once ever per game. And sometimes the circumstances change (I came back to GBF a couple months ago because I finally made it over the basic content wall and can actually do things).
If the game has gone to a point where it's actively making you sad, I would suggest leaving it behind; that's the game failing you, and nobody owes it anything.

32/253 lifetime
13/93 this batch
9/65 last batch (0.1 items below EV, which is pretty much exactly expected return, though quite a few duds even on my hits)
Note to self: No whining, Rikku USB, never forget. Also Cloud BSB2, Mustadio USB, Water Chain (dupe), Seymour Chain, Basch USB.
Torments and Cid Missions sure were a lot better for that nostalgia trip than these Magicites are.
