If the game has gone to a point where it's actively making you sad, I would suggest leaving it behind; that's the game failing you, and nobody owes it anything.
It's actively making me meh between periods of sad with the occasional YAY. I'm not sure it's worth the time commitment any more between this, F/GO, GBF, and actually trying to make progress on real games (hello Battletech).

Yeah, that's the real thing I'm fighting - phone games taking up more time and wanting to do some larger games with meat on them.
Phone games still hold a place for me, mostly because I can pick them up and put them down pretty quickly and they are very mobile, which are both good points due to having two young children.
FFRK has been fun, I'm now at the point though where I'm floating by and finishing events and such, but not grinding anything other than dailies for the mythril. I'll probably float until the next fest, see how things shape up and see if I feel like continuing.
Since I also hate myself, I am starting a PhD program this fall while working full time, so that might be a good time to stop!

Alph's usb is so silly. You need two 30% buffs and faith to even get to three hits on tiamat. By that point, even without +wind gear, he's hitting Midgard for 8.6k per hit. Then you use his usb which adds enwind and rank boost to start hitting for a whopping 9999x3. Really wish i could break the damage cap there somehow.

Pretty much, it just feels even worse on tiamat cause you're boosting your magic crazy high to get three hits only to go waaaaay over the cap. The usb could've had a magic boost instead of the enwind and rank boost and it would've been better.
I wish we had Sylph or Syldra as a lower-potential but non-stat-dependent Wind Summon, so that I could build meter for Alphy with that (taking advantage of his LM2) while MAG buffs are being prepared.
Summons are one of the best examples of how they've painted themselves into a corner with their game design.
Rough timeline:
- summons are better than black magic because they're AOE, so they need to get 1 cast per rank instead of 2
- summons are better than black magic because they get two hits instead of one
- 4* black magic always caps, so we better give 5* black magic two hits so there's a reason to use it
- 5* summons are better than 5* black magic because their potency is higher
- Oops 5* black magic is getting 2x9999, better add some summons that can get three hits so there's a reason to use them
- ha ha just kidding now black magic can get four hits
- man summons really suck, I guess we'd better give them a flat +1 cast, and a third hit for 5*. Except for the ones that already got a third hit, those summons can stay garbage
Prediction: future balance changes will include regular 5* summons going to four hits and MAG-scaling summons going to 3-5 hits (or maybe just get rid of that gimmick, please?). 6* summons will go to five or maybe six hits. Also probably some new 6* summons soon™ for JP
They could easily fix summons by giving them secondary effects like regenga, minor stat buffs, elemental blinks, etc. As it is, their only niche is AOE, and half of the tougher multi-target fights penalize AOE by giving all enemies rage modes at low health.

Yeah, that'd be a great change that would make summons feel more useful and wouldn't force them to have to compete with black magic's damage. Would also make a lot of thematic sense, since a bunch of the most useful summoners ALSO have some white magic.
My IV and Type-0 synergy is lacking, so I think a half price pull is probably worth it.
I don't think I've drawn from a IV banner since the very first time Pecil BSB was available. Everything since then I've gotten from fest or lucky banners. I'm definitely drawing on that.
Speaking of drawing, I'm doing one pull on II-1 for the chance at Maria USB. Here goes:
There was a grand missed opportunity for Emperor Mateus's LMR. It's a trance effect, so they could've had it change his sprite to his Hell Emperor look for the duration.

It's not much better for Yuna USB either. 30% and a 20% to hit for maybe about 8500x3 + 2100x5 chase for somewhere in the neighborhood of 40k/turn normal cast speed. That's not particularly thrilling.
(Compare to an actual good mage USB like Ysayle USB which with only an external 30% hits for like 9000x4+4000x6)

FF2-1 100 gems: 4* blah
Data for posterity:
1 misses in a row
33/255 lifetime
0/0 this batch
14/95 2nd batch (about on EV for this batch.)
9/65 1st batch (0.1 items below EV, which is pretty much exactly expected return, though quite a few duds even on my hits)
Note to self: No whining, Rikku USB, never forget. Also Cloud BSB2, Mustadio USB, Water Chain (dupe), Seymour Chain, Basch USB.
So I promised Fate itself another pull should it help me in a different game assuming I'd fail on both counts but it worked. So I pulled here and got 4/11! 1 Disco.
Minwu LMR (Double cast and I have his USB!),
Guy BSB (Have SSB/LMR),
Maria LMR (Nothing for her but its +Earth),
. . . please don't be Emperor USB Dupe
. . . or Minwu (sorry Minwu)
. . . BOW .
Fate and I are on speaking terms right now~

I think I'm done. I'm going to limp along all into next week picking up the login mythril for one last shot at that Rem USB (which may yet be useful on a return as a niche item) and then shut it down.

Hope you get the USB, regardless of your decision.
There's a lot of folks who seem to be dropping lately - here, and Reddit.
I'm ok with my main account but getting real tired of having a second alt account. Even with renewals still on the table and still some realm dungeons to do, I can't muster the resolve to do much with it most of the time.
So naturally I decided to burn off some of that mythril on the II banner.
3/11: Maria LMR, guy BSB, Maria USB
....of course. Another reason why it's hard to play two accounts now: getting good stuff on one but not the other.
I really need to cold turkey quit the alt account.

I quite my alt part way through the last fest and have no regrets about it. As it is I'm having trouble with motivation to keep going on magicites. I know I have the tools for Tiamat and Ixion, but just can't quite seem to get them. Not that I've tried that much yet. The grind is getting a bit old at the moment. So I'm backing off and just playing very casually, doing magicites if I have time to kill, but not worrying if I don't.

I'd recommend going back to 3* for orbs and monthly mythril, at least.
I'm still doing 3*, not every day, but most days I at least get one or two done. I'm house hunting as a first time home buyer, so not as much free time at the moment.

Oh lord, I remember that process. Kept getting invested in places I didn't get and needing to stop for a bit. Best of luck with that.
My wife could look at infinite houses a day. I rapidly tired of that, and eventually she only brought me to see ones which she loved. Which was perfect for me.
Finally got to the point where this game feels more like a chore than anything. Considering I'm about to move, current goal is to sub-30 all 4-star magicite on both accounts, then shut it down. That means 3 magicite on my alt, and only 1 on my main remaining.
We're getting the best of all worlds, selling our current house + renting a house for a year + buying a house next summer

I'm a bit disenchanted with FFRK at the moment, but only because I'm SO close to being "done" with content for the moment, but the last push is draining every second of my free time, but frustratingly to no avail (I haven't played my PS4 in months). I keep having a bunch of heartbreakingly close failures on Hades sub-30s, which is keeping me from going back and try Dirt Snake sub-30s again, which I'm not super optimistic about. Since everything is Magicite attempts, actually spending stamina and clearing events is an afterthought, and a chore to find time for. It's also increasingly difficult to wrangle MP games, because of decrease in player participation and loading times causing frequent disconnects. Finally doing Magicite attempts for more than an hour usually drains my whole battery and turns my phone into hot slag
I guess fortunately I'm in hibernate mode for Mythril, since there's not a lot of pickups that can help me until the next phase of powercreep, but my options for improving in the meantime are sparse.
I've already checked my expectations for New Torments and 5* Magicite to "probably impossible" since one of the most active whales on Reddit, F2P_Key/Key_Tsang, can barely manage to sub 30s or even 40s them.
The direction the game is going seems to be not great. At the same time if I could just finish 4* Magicite I could go into farm mode and devote a ton less time to this game, which would probably improve my head space.
That doesn’t necessarily mean folks are quitting in droves, but it does mean it’s not exciting enough to spend time talking about it, especially with all the other games coming out. Tough for a 3+ year old game to compete with others aiming to grab market share and provide a better game!
Chances are I will stay until the next fest, then quit. Between this and fire emblem heroes, it scratches the gaming itch that I cannot meet within pc gaming.
I’ve always enjoyed reading the conversations here, even if I didn’t contribute much myself.
I'm still playing, I just think we've hit the high point in reasonably difficult content so there's not a lot to talk about. Like, there's 5* magicites but that's so far into "who gives a shit" territory that it doesn't engender a lot of discussion.

It's a strong 6* +holy sword, but the USB itself isn't amazing.

He sometimes uses it once in the fight. Rarely twice.
That said, he does easily get to the 3-hit threshold with some Bard support.

Leon LMR. Whomp whomp.
I mean, it's still a w-cast and does have lightning resistance. LMRs kinda blow on otherwise relic-less characters though.
I was gonna do a random pull on this but now I've got 3 dupes, it seems, so I should probably pick something else.
My IV and Type-0 synergy is lacking, so I think a half price pull is probably worth it.
