In MWO I got all the scanning skills for my Jenner, minus Seismic scanning, the advanced zoom, and the EMS upgrades (I have no EMS and it won't let me anyway). Going to pick up some more Mobile skills, particularly for turning / braking / accelerating. After that... Thinking some Survival stuff? How useful are the two AMS upgrades in that tree that make AMS do more damage?

On thing I haven't seen much of: how much cosmetic customization is there? Can I paint/change camo on each mech individually like in X-COM? Maybe put special decals on certain mechs?

I haven't done any heat related stuff yet. The only time I run into heat problems is if I'm in a no-way-out situation, like one of my legs being busted. Then I'll have to try and fight my way out (usually I only survive if someone is there to help me anyway; I'm just a lil' bebe mech). But heat stuff has been on my radar (har har).

Also, might look into going down the center-line of the Firepower tree to grab the 4 laser duration nodes.

HOKAY, so I have yet to figure out how to alter the index so that it'll add new assets without hanging the game, but replacing currently existing assets work juuuuust fine.
I replaced the Paradox emblem cause who the fuck cares about that one anyway? I did rename it to - ORIGINAL so that it still exists but mission success! I think I'll need to do a version with some sort of shield behind it so that the emblem looks more full. Alternatively, I do have the nose art as an option which will fill in wonderfully as an emblem.

Inserting a new line in the Index Spreadsheet caused the game to hang on launch so that's interesting
Yeah, the index file is finicky, and cross references files in multiple places with multiple index sheets.
I don't know if you checked already, but the beta wiki had some good sources for modding. I will provide the links I used once I'm home and not phone posting
