Yeah, the index file is finicky, and cross references files in multiple places with multiple index sheets.

Ok, combat can be actually brutal.
The first two mechs i fight, manage to savage Mastiff making the rest of the mission not quite as easy as it might have been.
And i almost loose Blackjack in the first mission after that (and get hit in the head by a tank).
Right, that pincer manouver probably was not the best idea, 2 on 2 mech fight almost lost me my own mech.

Even better - I spectated him after, and he didn't understand that two of his weapons were firing from low on his torso, so he would peek up over cover to fire, and his shots would his the rocks in front of him. He also didn't understand that struts holding up silos could be fired through so he ate a lot of shit. He also ran from the group to go solo fight.

I'm on the screen where you pick a crest, colors, and callsign. I keep getting the message 'user already have a profile for Battletech'. Does that mean I can't take that callsign, or is their some weird account error thing going on? I just created this paradox account for this game, so it can't already have a profile.
If anyone is having trouble redeeming a code in the store make sure if you're copying and pasting to delete the phantom enter after the code and then just keep trying it.
It took me six tries before it accepted mine so I assume their servers are just getting hammered today.

I got that "user already has a profile" thing and relaunched the game and it had my stuff so I think it just freaked out after submitting but it still recorded it.
The weird thing is it kinda logs in, I can see the banner graphic I chose in the top right but then it dumps out with an error and goes back to the stock graphic with "not signed in".

Then you take out half their team to only realize that your entire team got killed in the meantime leaving you to take out their fresh heavies. I'm kind of amazed that the reviews on Battletech are currently 'mixed' on Steam. Especially because most of the complaints seem to be 'its amazing but the combat is sooooo slow'. Maybe I don't find an issue with it because I've played warhammer etc. on the tabletop so I'm used to combat taking a long time?

Sadly is that he probably didn't even know you could target the enemy and yeah stupidly assumed you were the Light that was hurting him.
The quotes that Aridhol posted are more of what you hear from annoyed drivers of assaults. Not necessarily what you did. Trust me, as a Light Enthusiast you'll get blamed for the team defeats till you get higher in Ranks. Then you'll get focused fired upon by the entire other team since they realize a light is a squirrel that needs to die, or ignored since the heavy/medium is doing more damage.

The vast majority of the negative reviews I'm seeing right now are due to technical problems in the game (poor performance, GPUs going nuts, crashes), followed by "there are way too many little delays while playing", and that's been enough to dissuade me from getting it until some patches come out for it... and this is coming from somebody that found a modded PS2 just to play the fan translation for Front Mission 5. The big mech hunger is real for me, but I'm willing to wait for it to stabilize a little so that I can give it a fair shake.
