lol i've seen soooo many people using the blossom armor with the brigade waist, it's insane how many people decided to go with than combo. I was in a kulve group that ended up being 4 people with that look with various colors, and all using the styx lbg.
Every squad invite comes with a 3 hour lecture I have entitled:

Really hope we see more monster news soon. I want a little more to chase after than just Luna right now and I've got two other games eating up most of my free time already.

I just beat the story last night, and now can take High Rank monsters and missions. Though, I'm starting to re-think maining as bow. Taking on some of the tougher monsters I've noticed that I take a ton more damage, like often get two-hit to death (often when I'm trying to get up from being knocked over). Or is this more just a git gud moment that I need to get over?
Don't get up immediately unless monster is occupied. Also eat, use items, or use armor skills for extra health.
P.S. getting to high rank is not beating the story
Hahaha, yeah, you're barely halfway through buddy. Go get your grind on and have fun!
And maining bow requires having an extremely intimate understanding of the invincibility frames in your dodge move. Your first HR hunt is likely going to surprise you with how much more damage HR monsters do, so grind out an easy HR set and start upgrading like mad, keep practicing your dodges, and don't overextend your combos. Bow is so fast and spammy that it's really easy to get animation locked trying getting off your powershot combo.

I was in the same spot when I got to high rank and yeah it's rough for bow but the start of high rank is rough in general. It boils down to a "git gud" moment in that you have to start out playing way more conservative because all the monsters are tougher, your damage and defense are shit, and the only way to remedy that is to kill these tougher monsters with your shit gear to make better gear.
Getting through the bulk of high rank with bow is certainly doable but it involves building up like 3 different bows because all the best ones are elemental. Unless of course you get carried on KT runs and use some of those.
Got some nice layered fashion coming up! AT Vaal will give a layered Deathstench set, and the summer event will have layered butterfly set, a new diver set, and sun glasses.

I'm confused about something. The way everyone has writing about them, it sounds as though weapons drop at random directly from some end-game monsters in World. Is that the case? That sounds so much worse than just hunting for gems.

Basically Kulve Tarroth clears gives random weapons (from a fixed pool instead of the madness of guild quests). A few are obscenely good.

Is it also possible to forge these weapons, or not?

They revived that idea for Monster Hunter World's Kulve Taroth, an Elder Dragon that has literal gold chunks grafted all over its body. It's a good fight, but I'm really not fond of the Relic Weapon concept. The weapons are random drops from ID'ing a specific end-reward/loot item. You always get a weapon, like Rustshard polishing, but you are very likely not to get the weapon that you want.
Fortunately (or unfortunately), only a small handful of the weapons are worth it, and in a lot of weapon types, they actually aren't as strong as the current god tier weapons. In most cases, they are about the same as end-tier weapons. I think Bowguns have some of the "best in slot" choices among the spread for specific shot types, but that's about it.

Nice to look dapper while sliding down a hill, getting hit with a jagras or being electricuted from a distance.
It fits all occasions. Some may say it's the summer look.
