Honestly after playing a few games of kill team it feels like the opposite of 40k. The “horde armies” so guard, Orks and so on are garbage because it’s way too easy to just have cascading morale check failures where a bunch of guys die because you have a lot of them and they’re easy to kill, then you fail morale on the others, who then die because they are sitting ducks, and loop forever.

It’s at the point where you have an “elite” choice and “filler” choice the filler is a trap. Cultists, poxwalkers, Tzaangors and the like are basically just giving away morale for nothing. I’d rather just not spend the points if I have the option.

I love that about it. It feels great to see a hoard of cultist scum across the tiny board from my 6-man team and think, "Yeah, this is going to be great. I just need to smash those seven heretics and the rest will crumble as the Reivers introduce them to real terror."

Edit: added quote due to totp

So is one box of Kabalite Warriors acceptable for a Kill-Team squad and should I probably pick up a Wych box before too long?

I'd say that you're going to want some wyches. Probably more than warriors, honestly.

I ran a DE kill team this past weekend (6 warriors, 5 wyches) and the wyches really out-shined the warriors by a large margin. They get more special rules (combat drugs, where every result is actually a boon to you!), are reliably safe in melee (4++ in the fight phase), have pistols that can shoot in close combat and goddamn grenades (which the warriors are lacking), and with the cover mechanics they stand a reasonable chance of actually getting into combat. The only thing I ever forgot to do was shoot my Hekatrix's Phantasm Grenade Launcher, which may or may not have been super helpful in a couple of games, but I doubt would've swung any losing games back into my favor.

Warriors aren't bad though, and can form a solid core of shooting units for your team. My splinter cannon demolitions guys did some really heavy lifting for me in my events, and a shredder heavy specialist can really draw some fire away from your advancing wyches (for some reason, people get real nervous about a super fast AP -1 flamer hitting their guys). My splinter riles mostly just sat in objectives and were largely ineffective, though.

The confetti rifles do seem to be less useful in Kill Team.

That Dark Lance though... that thing... I hate it so much.

I think three warriors, (one dark lance, one blaster, and then a leader with a blaster pistol or whatever it's called) and then the rest as wyches (I think you can squeeze 7 or so in with an agonizer on the hekatrix).

You should get a box each of warriors and wyches because the parts are all interchangeable and you can make some rad bdsm elves.

Honestly, a dark lance sniper doesn't sound terrible, and it will absolutely delete whatever it hits. I prefer the splinter cannon, it's a really nice all-comers option. I've found a blaster to almost always be worse than a shredder. I'd even suggest skipping the sybarite, make him a chump warrior, and just stick a blast pistol on a hekatrix with the agonizer.

Thinking about what heavy weapon to take for the Asuryani. The Shuriken cannon is the only one that benefits from battle focus, but I feel the range of the missile launcher basically nullifies the advantage and it has that versatility. The other weapons seem second choice compared to these two being heavy andhaving only average range, so the long range modifier could come into play more often.

I would not say guard in KT are crap. Guard swarms are.

My guard list doesn’t have a single hotshot lasgun or regular lasgun in the entire thing.

    Geared out Guard works fine.

I'm going to try out a dark lance sniper/chump warrior comms duo and see how that works out. If it doesn't work, then I'm bringing back that sweet, sweet shredder splinter cannon.

Alright, I will go with the Predators and grab Vindicators in a few months. Always wanted to use one or the other. Does the kill shot box with 3 Predator tanks come with all the weapon options? The description makes it seem like it does not.

I finished magnetizing my two Venerable Dreadnoughts. It went really well. Stuck the magnets in the green stuff and let it sit. Really strong hold. The axes look goofy as fuck. Just need to buy the other gun arms for the Dreads off ebay and I can use each of the 3 guns they came with.

really impressed withe intercessor sprue. thought wolfing them up into proper sons of fenris would be hard be these have been very fun and easy kitbashes.

i wanted every model to have their bolt rifle and an offhand weapon - like, an knife or a hand axe - and for the most part the kit accommodates with arms that can handle the poses.

Building out for my DW they are in a lot of different postes and such. It was pretty good.

Though DW marines aren't squatting marines either so they don't feel tiny verse primaris.

So I have two of the HQ from the Tooth and Claw box and I kind of wanted to turn one into a pound puppy with that jetpack/thunder hammer thing going around but the size difference is so noticeable. He will be a lot bigger than the other HQs.

There are also some odd choices in places, where they tell you to use two quarter-pieces when there’s no reason not to use a half-piece, and so on.

Oh. I just asssumed there wasn't enough half pieces. Didn't look.

Edit. Just got Gangs of Commorragh at one of local FLGS for about $54. A least 1/3 the price of the models. And bikes and green goblin skimmers are the part of DE I like the most.

So KT is fun. I knew the dimensions of the playing field beforehand, but when you actually see it, it's so tiny!

Played two games against space marines. Primaris seem good in this. Ignoring flesh wounds is really nice.

Won a game and lost a game. The loss was mostly because I forgot about the turn sequence when I positioned my guys for one of the turns. Also having the initiative for all of the turns really sucks.

    Just to make sure:

Marines only ignore the first flesh wound and only ignore it for purposes of accuracy.

You roll off for initiative each turn, though sometimes you “win” all of the rolls.

(I kind of wish either first player alternated, or that you alternated moving pieces like the other phases of the game.)

Ah, I thought they ignore the first fleshwound for all purposes.

And with the first fleshwound ignored rule we had the funny situation of sniper rolls a 6-> mortal wound -> flesh wound -> no wound. He then got hit by a fusion gun anyway. THe two Storm guardians were probably the most effective models in both games. Battle Focus and decisive shot are a good combination.
