So I've managed to get myself hooked on Hand Of Fate 2. It's such a weird game. It feels like tearing up a bunch of choose-your-own-adventure books, shuffling in a few screenshots of Arkham Asylum, then randomly picking up cards.
But it's also essentially a roguelike, in that sometimes you'll get dealt the shop first up, before you've had a chance to earn any cash. But other times the cards come out in just the right order and you'll blitz the whole story.
Anyways, rather than clog up the Switch thread, I went and made a dedicated thread HERE.
I'm only just starting to dig into it (I just got a flaming card... what's that about it?!?!), so I'm keen to chat if anyone else likes this game.
I'm still playing through Octopath, but I couldn't resist picking up the Megaman X 1 collection as well. Turned off all filters and backgrounds, put it up on my TV, and it's a very faithful recreation of the experience of playing it as a teen. Just beat all 8 robot masters after spending some time trying to remember/figure out what weapon works on each, and I know I still have some stuff to collect in all the levels. I'm certainly not full on hearts, and I'm missing 2 E-tanks.
And when I'm done with this, I have 3 more games to go through!
I got too many games now. I mean, I used to, but I still do, too.
Totally finished Octopath. Revelations games are good fun.
I learned that Rev 2 used to be full of DLC on every other platform, individual chapters you had to buy, characters for raid mode, extra storage for items in raid mode...even individual "continue crystals" that let you respawn after failing a mission, which is one of those sleazy cash grabs. All of that is now included in the base game. You can buy those crystals with in-game gold, same with the extra storage. And the Barry Ghouls n' Ghosts minigame is exclusive to Switch too, and a great source of money if you get good at it. It's like they realized this is the last release of the game so don't even bother with a cash shop and be consumer friendly for this final iteration.
Bandai Namco announced that the latest Digimon game, a “survival simulation RPG” called Digimon Survive, will make its way Westward in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Here’s the announcement trailer from Bandai Namco:
Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Digimon Anime, Digimon Survive presents a brand-new adventure set in a mysterious world with characters designed by Uichi Ukumo, and music by the much-acclaimed Tomoki Miyoshi.
Digimon Survive sees a brand-new group of teenagers, led by Takuma Momozuka, get lost on a school camping trip, finding them transported to a strange new world of monsters and danger.
As they fight their way back home through an animated world of difficult decisions and deadly battles, players’ choices throughout the game will impact the evolution of their monster allies, and the final ending. Battles in the game are fought in 2D, in a more classic SRPG style.
Digimon Survive releases in North America and Europe in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

I decided to check out Paladins, for about 10 minutes. It turns out that they forgot to include a reasonable control scheme.
Never played it, but I assume it would be a standard FPS layout. Am I wrong? What's so bad about it?
It's entirely a bog standard twin analog FPS control scheme.
I'm also trying to wrack my brain on how aiming with the right stick is suddenly a terrible idea.
Moving between Splatoon motion aiming and standard FPS controls certainly messes with my head from time to time.
I can see that, but that's definitely a niche controls scheme. jothki's claim that they "forgot to include a reasonable control scheme" because it uses the same console FPS control scheme as every other shooter (except Splatoon) is kind of silly.
Sounds like it turned out just as lackluster as the other ports.
This weird zombification of THQ by a vulture investor who got the IP is... interesting. It's not as bad as others I've seen, like Atari. They are starting off slow, dusting off some old IP's, getting a new team trained up making a new expansion or ports for existing games. But it's still incredibly weird.
Although hey, we got a new expansion for Titan Quest, and a remastered edition on PC. So there is always that.
The PS4/XBone Titan Quest port reviews were neagative to mediocre across the board, I think. I can't imagine the Switch port being any different. Also the console "remasters" don't come with the most recent expansion.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Most of the problems listed in that article sound like things that could be patched. Whether or not they would who knows? I'd probably not hold my breath though.
All of this does remind me of something, when the shit is Diablo 3 Switch coming out? I mean it just has to right? Right?!

That just means you have potential co-op partners.
Been considering getting myself a game, but hesitating on whether to get Captain Toad (since I never did play the WiiU one) or Mario Tennis Aces. Hmmm.
I've been loving Snake Pass. It's a continuous cycle of "you monsters, this is impossible!", followed by 10 minutes of swearing and feeling amazing as I succeed. Rinse, repeat.
Tempted to rebuy it on Steam on a sale, just to see the game in full resolution with AA maxed and so on. This game is purdy.

I have no problem with Paladins control scheme, but the last 5 games I've tried to get into didn't work because it said someone didn't ready up and/or someone didn't pick a character and sends everyone back to their own main menu to start the process over again. Is it really that easy to mess up a game for 7 other people?
I don't know. The older I get, the more I'm moving away from multiplayer games. I just don't have the patience anymore. On the bright side, between the 3DS and Switch, it looks like I'll have enough SP games to last me for the rest of my life.
I read through this earlier this morning and the conclusion seemed a bit bizarre to me:
In essence, Titan Quest on Nintendo Switch looks and plays every bit like the 2006 original. While this might be exactly what some fans hope to hear, for others it may feel as though not enough's been done to reimagine this classic ARG for a 2018 audience playing on the go - all of which sadly makes it one of the Switch's more disappointing ports to date.
The review leading up to the conclusion suggests it is worse than the 2006 original. The conclusion sounds like it's exactly what I want. Not really sure what to make of that.

What's the deal with this Plague Road game? It's like constantly 90% off or more.

In truth: not at all. What a weird thing to say. The original plays like a dream and looks good a decade later. I haven't played the Switch version, but other console versions are just awful. They look worse than the PC version, they are very clunky and have loads of bugs and even game breaking bugs.
Also this has nothing to do with the original development team. They're doing Grim Dawn nowadays, which is a great game.
Don't buy this minimum effort port of a great game.
Yep. PS4 version is stupidly bugged. In multiplayer, you can end up targeting allied spawns instead of enemies, making summon builds useless. It's been patched numerous times but the bugs haven't been addressed. It's a lumbering, juddery mess.

Yeah, it looks...not good.
Just thought it was weird I keep seeing it on sale and it's always a crazy sale like 90% off. I think right now it's 93% off. I guess that's their approach though?
Plague Road is a suuuper garbage Kickstarter scam that got funded mainly because it looks deceptively okay on screenshots and also Jim Sterling did a few voices. The devs pushed it out to die on PC and ported it to Switch only to make a quick indie buck because they heard how well indies have been doing on Switch.

I saw that, but that’s explicitly written by someone who hasn’t previewed the Switch version while the review author has. That commenter is making an assumption that the Switch version has the same bugginess as the console versions. And the commenter may be correct, but we don’t know that because he is working with assumptions rather than data (at least specific to the Switch).
The reviewer doesn’t mention any bugs at all, just an unchanged UI that doesn’t seem to work very well on the Switch. Which isn’t a bug, just a poor design decision. She does mention that there are issues similar to the other console versions but no mention of those bugs that were widely documented as far as I heard.
So I’m still confused. I’m hoping more reviews show up soon. I’m willing to bet it IS a shitty port but this review didn’t really answer the question for me. Sigh.
One way or another, I’m picking up Flashback tomorrow at least. I also preordered Dead Cells (double-dipping) and Okami (triple-dipping). I think I might triple-dip on Salt and Sanctuary, too. The idea of having it on the go tickles me.
Edit: Apparently the battery drain issue is going to be fixed when this is released internationally, so I might just wait.

I know that dpad should look right, and I'm sure it's better, but for some reason it just looks wrong on the switch. Which is weird to me since that's how most dpads look.
– Switch hardware total: 19.67 million
– Switch software total: 86.93 million
– 3DS hardware total: 72.89 million
– 3DS software total: 367.84 million
– Wii U hardware total: 13.56 million
– Wii U software total: 102.28 million
– Net sales: $1.513 billion (up 9% year-over-year)
– Profit: $394.6 million (up 42% year-over-year)
They're also sticking to their 20 million target of Switches sold this fiscal year (which they're absolutely gonna reach thanks to Smash and Pokemon).
Also, Nintendo Labo (if you combine both kits), DKC Tropical Freeze and Mario Tennis Aces sold over one million copies each in the couple of months they've been on the market.
Super Mario Odyssey – 11.17 million
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10.35 million
Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 9.32 million
Splatoon 2 – 6.76 million
1-2 Switch – 2.45 million
ARMS – 2.01 million
Kirby Star Allies – 1.89 million
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – 1.42 million
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze – 1.40 million
Mario Tennis Aces – 1.38 milion
No major changes, except Pokemon is now "Late 2019" instead of "Second half of 2019", though this was pretty much a given. Also, I didn't realize Nintendo was publishing The World Ends With You. That's certainly good news for the game's marketing.
I have no problem with Paladins control scheme, but the last 5 games I've tried to get into didn't work because it said someone didn't ready up and/or someone didn't pick a character and sends everyone back to their own main menu to start the process over again. Yeah, I don't understand why it just doesn't boot the person who didn't ready up and either wait a reasonable amount of time for a new player, or fill the empty spot with a bot. A bot's probably going to put you at a disadvantage, but unless you're playing ranked, you probably don't care. People are shits, and if they don't get to pick the champion they want, they sit there until the timer runs out.
Paladins and Smite are cool games, I just wish Hi-Rez would give me the ability to play them by myself =/

Looks like that's the near-final tally for Wii U. Better than Dreamcast's 9.13 million but still, woof.
And the 3DS managed to sell another three million in the last seven months, which is really good for a system approaching the end of its life. Man, that lifetime 3DS sales curve is all kinds of wacky.
