That Star Wars show has 39 episodes that will probably never be seen.

I don't think Robot Chicken is that funny so I really don't need a whole show of their Star Wars bits

i'm still fuckin' mad about hieroglyph being canceled
If you forgot what this was
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frxaRXeXKKE
I would like to imagine that what happened was some plucky assistant producer or maybe even intern knocked on an executive's door and said
"Sir, sorry to bother you, but for a show about ancient Egypt, isn't the cast kind...you know...white?"
    and he replied
"My God! I didn't even notice because I don't see race! It's too late to fix now, let's just cancel the whole thing"
And of course then they were out of a job and probably regretted saying that, but at least it was a victory for social justice.

I just read a new yorker article about translating the Russian dialogue on The Americans, and I realised that for literally years I thought The Americans was a completely different show. Now I'm thinking I should a) give it a shot and b) work out what the hell the show I thought was The Americans actually is, so I can avoid it properly.

I watched, I think, the first season of the Americans, and it was very good but also too tense for me to watch in large chunks!

For some reason I didn't even get through the first season, it wasn't working for me
I should probably give it another shot

There is an episode in the third season, "Do Mail Robots Dream of Electric Sheep?", that is impossibly tense.

    The show is so good.

I’ve never actually watched the Lethal Weapon show but apparently the actor playing Riggs turned out to be an abusive asshole and got replaced with Sean William Scott?

I guess the casting department did too well when they tried to find someone like Mel Gibson

    CheersWatch, season 6

Rebecca is a very good addition to the cast

I like that the characters have not forgotten Diane just because she left, as is often the case when a major character leaves on a TV show, and they are never referrenced again

Kelsey Grammer is so good at being a background character it has made me doubt his ability to be a lead character, despite knowing Frasier runs for almost as long as Cheers does

Sam not owning the bar this season is a nice way to push him a bit into the background, which is good after last season being so Sam and Diane heavy

I feel like given his role on leverage they should have gotten Chrsitian Kane but oh well.

I have decided upon the headcanon that The Leftovers and Carnivale take place in the same world.
I'm a bit fuzzy on the particulars here, but something along the lines of
    - the Avatars were the only ones with inherent access to the Powers That Be for (all of?) recorded history
    - Ben and Sofie have a child, who does not manifest any powers
    - (technobabble in here about Trinity and a nuclear blast being needed to seal the Avataric Bloodline)
    - In 2014, their descendant (roughly 76) dies, which results in a sudden release of the bottled power
    - Some 2%, when they encounter this wave of power, depart.
    - A similarly small number instead gain extremely limited access to Avataric powers. Glimpses behind the curtain.
    a) this access comes and goes
    b) it manifests in different ways
    c) it's very susceptible to human error

    - Most people are not affected

    so, Busted!, right?

here's a trailer and Netflix blurb
"[...]Determined, but clueless, a team of amateur detectives bumble their way through crime scenes resulting in endless comedy and drama."
    https://youtu.be/sMJoFSWVSUQ

basically, it's dinner theatre murder mystery, escape room / Amazing Race puzzle-solving, and Scooby Doo goofs all rolled together, with a different whodunit every episode and an overarching mystery. it can be drawn out (the pilot is around 90 minutes), but --halfway through the season-- i feel that an hour largely gives the characters and set pieces room to breathe rather than seeming bloated. the pacing can be hit or miss, but you just kinda settle in for it; it seems like everyone is game for playing pretend together (and occasionally losing it and breaking character), resulting in an earnestness and melodrama that is endearing and has actually made us laugh aloud multiple times. it is bonkers in fun ways.

i don't want to oversell it, but it's just nice.. as nice as, y'know, solving murders gets, anyway... it's reality-TV "Murder, She Wrote."

    you'll get goosebumps!

i needed to convey the comfort-foody niceness and i had a brainwave!

i picked that over "Diagnosis: Murder" 'cause they travel around Korea, and iirc, Jessica did herself some travel (i haven't watched either of those since i was a kid, but remember them fondly, if dimly.)

(it is a Korean show, and all the detectives are entertainers of some stripe. ex.: the 'dancing detective' in the trailer is in a boy band i like, the Sherlock Holmes dude is a popular variety show host etc etc. i'm sure there are a ton of subtle in-jokes i don't pick up on...)
