hey blackagar what's your favorite early aughts band fronted by yoni wolf
So the Power Rangers comics, which have been extremely good, just wrapped up their first big crossover event, and it was really well done
I'm bringing it up here because they essentially performed an exact inversion of one of the cooler multiverse things Marvel has done
Spoilers for the general storyline of the Shattered Grid crossover:
So the big bad is lord drakkon, a version of Tommy (the green ranger) who chose to remain evil when he was broken free of Ritas spell. Eventually he takes over the world, and like the justice lords in the DCAU, he then decides to take over the other worlds too (hes got the same totalitarian ethics)
As he starts going to other worlds he keeps meeting Tommys, and at first hes excited, then bummed when they turn out to be good and not into forcing peace through totalitarian rule. He keeps meeting tommys and they keep turning him down, and it starts driving him a little nuts.
Basically, he originally thought he was special for "overcoming the weakness of needing friendship" but after a while he builds a device to search the multiverse for tommys like him... and he finds there are none. he is the ONLY one like him, so he starts to think hes defective, and that break in his confidence is what kind of starts leading to him falling apart.
Here's why I'm mentioning this here:
It's the exact oposite of the Council of Reeds. Our Reed Richards is only good because he has his family and they keep him on the right path, with all other Reeds being evil. This tommy is only EVIL because he explicitly rejects friendship, and knowing he's the ONLY one that does this drives him nuts.
It's one of my favorite 'multiverse evil version of a hero' things I've seen in comics in a while.

So, did Lord Drakkon just pull up "IsTommyEvil.com" in every universe?
He's super creepy and is treated as such in the book
If you really wanted to sell people you would show them King, the Wild West version of Black Panther who has a vibranium laced poncho and six shooter and is hunting the white man who killed his father
i can definitely get behind a preacher as a villain
the idea that this is hilarious is
not good!
why??
because a character mostly known for teaching inclusiveness being turned into a crazy christian preacher isnt very funny
see here it sounded like you were insinuating that it's some kind of moral failing on my part, when apparently it's just that you think irony is a bad thing
Man I gotta catch up on those Power Rangers comics
The setup for the next series is REALLY interesting as well, due to some reality/time warping shenanigans the next arc will be focused around basically an Avengers-esque squad of Rangers from around the multiverse, lead by
An older Kimberly from Lord Drakkon's world where she was a bad-ass freedom fighter and looks like this:

put a cloak on a power ranger and bam! you got yourself a destiny
This reminded me that the Mandrill is a character.
Ever time I remember that the Mandrill is a character, I have to take my glasses off and just rub the bridge of my nose, maybe massage my temples a little bit, looking very exhausted the entire time.

At this year’s TerrifiCon in Connecticut, Marvel Comics’ recently-appointed Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski sat down with comics writers Nick Spencer and Charles Soule, and reporter John Siuntres, to talk about the publishing company’s future.
“Marvel has always been, as Stan [Lee] always said, ‘the world outside our window.’ It’s the reflection of the modern times that we live in. Marvel has never shied away from that, around what happened with 9/11 or what we were doing with Secret Empire. And we’re going to continue that tradition. There are a couple of [upcoming issues] that are going to reflect things that are going on in the real world.
However, one of the things I want to make sure is when we do tell these stories—I don’t know how to put this in the right way—they still have to be entertainment. If we want to see the real world, we can turn on CNN, we can turn on the TV, we can pick up a newspaper and see what’s going on there. And yes, it’s our responsibility as a comic book publisher, especially Marvel, given the history that we have, to reflect those times, but they still have to be fun.
We can’t get too deep into the politics. And the characters can take sides, choose sides, turn evil, turn back to good, but they still have to entertain. That’s first and foremost, no matter what real-world events we are going to reflect, they are going to be fictionalized and they’re going to have the classic spin that Stan always brought to them. They will be serious, but they may make you smile.”
Secret Empire is now officially a political story, I guess.

I just tried to read the marvel wiki page about the Mandrill to see if he was as awful as I vaguely remembered and good god, I couldn't get through two sentences before doing exactly what you described.

It's a nice character motivation/quirk for a villain that otherwise could have been very 1-dimensional

Here ya go: http://a.co/d/h7a0nFn
There are two ongoings: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Go Go Power Rangers
MMPR is the crazier, top level stuff, sort of like the avengers in Marvel
Go Go deals more with the "we are teens and heros and balancing the lives of both" aspect
They're both good from the very beginning. A good portion of the early bits of each is part of comixology unlimited.

I 100% tried to make every destiny look like a power ranger already
generally speaking if there's character customization I will try to make everyone look like a superhero
