Went to a pie place for lunch with a friend.

Their savoury pies were all super nice, and i had a been casserole one which had a dollop of sour cream in under the crust that had been baked in. Sort of like nachos but enclosed in a pie.

They also had a bunch of american style dessert pies. Tried a lime cream one and it was delicious. Really light and fluffy, and not super sweet like i was expecting.

I think it was the first time i'd axtually had something that called itself a pie like that. At the risk of getting into regional semantics, it was real similar to the tarts i've had.

I'd learned a bit ago that that's what American pies were like, but it was nice to actually try one

Pretty much every diner I've ever been to thats not like a Denny's has it. Maybe its more regional then I though.

What happened to the other 1/4?

Also what toppings did you get?

I bought half a pizza for take home and at two slices while it was cookin’.

Extra cheese, extra sauce, and pepperoni.

Yeah I'm wondering if it's just a NW Indiana/Chicagoland thing. Also I really miss those diners, there aren't enough Greek diners or even restaurants in general in LA.

    I have a conundrum.

    1. I am trying to lose some weight.
    2. It is summer and I want to eat junk food.
    3. I ate some pizza for lunch.
    4. It was a small amount of pizza and I now want to eat more food.
    5. I should try and eat less junk food.
    6. I jogged on the treadmill today.

Something that might help... find one of those atkins (any brand really) little protein bites and eat one every hour or so during the day. it will make you less hungry when lunch and dinner comes around and cuts your desire to snack.

We had Greek diners all over in NY, it's just the Greek bit of it just meant they had gyro or maybe like moussaka. Maybe they did avgolemono and I just didn't notice it because I never think to look for soup when I'm at a diner?

A new pizza joint just opened up in Vancouver called AJ's Brooklyn Pizza Joint

And of all the dozens of places in various cities I've eaten "New York Style Pizza" this is the first that is actually similar to pizza in New York.

I was chatting to the owner and he was telling me a similar thing in a heavy Brooklyn accent. Also the pies are surprisingly reasonably priced.

Saw some stuff at the store that looked interesting and picked it up. Namely some Halo Top ice cream and a box of Maltesers. Eating the ice cream now and it's pretty good!

This doesn't actually seem that bad, it's mostly a bagel with cream cheese, but instead of nothing in the middle, there's an egg. Though I get it wouldn't be exactly what you'd expect from ordering an egg and cheese bagel

even though that post says 10:33 am I think it falls under two possibilities:

    A) it was an order RIGHT before closing and they had run out of fucks for the day and took it out on them
    B) it was a brand new person that had no idea what a bagel with egg and cheese was and no one would help them so they put cream cheese on it and a hard boiled egg because "well I've had weirder orders I guess?"

If you want it in with the cream cheese, sure, but I feel like they were going more for something like that English thing, eggy-in-a-basket?

Probably some teenager making minimum wage that's never eaten bagels in their life?
