On Monday, I accidentally dropped my Macbook onto one of those plastic chair-roll things, which was on a carpet. From about three feet. This may or may not be related to the problem.

Anyways, since then, my computer has been acting all kinds of screwy. At first, I could start it up, but I would either get a kernel error and be forced to restart, or the computer would just randomly shut down, most of the time when jostled (even a little). It was taken to the Mac Store to get fixed, and ended up with a replaced logic board, as well as new RAM. It seemed to be running perfectly well after the fix, until near the end of the day.

At the end of class, I had closed my computer to take it home. When I opened it, not only was it shut off...but I was unable to turn it on, though the small power light on the lower corner of the keyboard area would appear.

So, anyone have any idea what's going on with my computer? Can it be fixed? Or is it completely screwed up?

Resisting... urge... to make... comment about Mac commercials in which they basically state they never have any confusing problems...

If you took it to have it fixed, and it stopped working that quickly after they "fixed" it, I would be heading back to the store. Certainly they have some sort of guarantee of their work.

    Yeah, it's what I'm thinking.

Not having a Macbook: is that the sleeping light? If it's asleep, have you tried charging it? What happens if you take out the battery and connect it to the juice? Is it actually turning on at all (listen to it closely)? What happens if you hold down the power button for 10 seconds straight (which will force it to turn off if it's asleep) and then try turning it on again?

I'm pretty sure it's the sleep light.

It DOES actually turn on, however, it doesn't do anything.

    I have tried charging it.

I've also tried straight connecting without the battery. No difference, sadly (except the power cable's indicator goes from orange to green)

Is the small power light dimming? If it's just a constant light, I would assume that it's on, and maybe it's a display problem, since you have a new logic board. That would be my guess, but just take it to the Apple store again.

No. And...what the hell, it suddenly decided to "sort of" work.
