My parents had a family of burrowing owls outside their house a couple years ago! They were there for a few months, but we never saw babies, so I'm not sure if they whelped or not. They are funny animals, though, for sure.

I'm not fluent in Goose, but I'm pretty sure the big one one on the left is letting me that if I take three more steps in their direction, one of us is going to be a lot less happy this morning.

I was about to bring up geese when people were talking about the chicken adopting kittens on the last page.
Apparently geese can't count, and just instinctually care for any goslings that follow them. When goose parents meet they lose and gain goslings without noticing, sometimes ending up with more than they started with, sometimes none at all.
I don't know if thats sad or adorable. Probably both.

Update on the Goose.
Today it hissed at me. Not like an angry murder hiss, but more like a dejected "I'm expected to hiss" kind of hiss.
Also, they only had three goslings with them today. I'm hoping the others just got adopted by a smarter goose who avoids the sidewalks.
I'm exactly like that dog whenever I take the bus/train home from work.

Man, I love sparrows. They're such belligerent little brawlers. Every morning the sun rises, their eyes pop open, and they reflexively shout "You wot, mate?"
