Also fwiw 1984 was very enjoyable, I've seen a few folk compare it to the 70s Superman films in tone and that feels pretty accurate.

Came out last wednesday in the uk, went to see an afternoon screening where there was only another 5-6 people there, which was nice

Now I would actually pay money for a Director's Cut of Wonder Woman. That end fight was just completely out of place.

What's out of place about it? It would be weird if her uncle didn't roll her up in a blanket burrito and scare her. That's just uncle 101, you gotta have that in your movie, for sure.

The potential twist that there was no big bad guy, she's just battling the darkness of humanity, was deeply appealing. Especially with Steve's potential sacrifice to give her a basis to keep fighting.

It looks like DC Universe's video side is finally closing up shop.

All Batman animated media, including BTAS and Beyond, will be moving to HBO Max starting Jan 1. No confirmations on JLU or STAS yet.

    Surprising absolutely no one:

    https://www.ign.com/articles/wonder-woman-director-patty-jenkins-reveals-that-warner-bros-made-her-change-the-movies-ending
The original end of the first movie was also smaller but the studio made me change it at the last minute

Guess it wasn't meant to end in a big dumb CGI fight with a cartoon guy.

No, before AT&T bought them out and forced the various warring fiefdoms of Warner Media to play nice with each other, their content was spread out over many mini-services.

HBO Max isn't just absorbing DC Universe next month, but the Boomerang streaming service as well, which has a lot of Cartoon Network studios and vintage Hanna-Barbera shows. Now if they can just pull the old Kids' WB stuff from Hulu, they'll have a really solid history of animated content all under one roof.

Yeah I've made the argument before that Area was missused. He should have been in, but the reveal should have been... He's genuine. He wants peace. The god of war is a broken man filled with regrets, and world war 1? Welcome to how shit humanity can be, Diana.

Having him new the big bad really undermined things

I would have liked the opposite, where he is just sitting back and enjoying the show, perhaps at times genuinely trying to create peace, and glorying in humanity fucking it up anyways.

There's a short story (I wish I could remember the title or author; not the Salvation War, this is both shorter and older) where the hosts of Heaven appear to bring about the end of the world ... right in the middle of no-man's-land on some WW1 battlefield, where they're promptly gassed and shot to pieces by machine guns and rifles, and the remains pounded into the cratered grey muck by artillery. And all the soldiers in the trenches on both sides are far too numb and weary and shell-shocked to understand, or even take special note of, what's happened right in front of them. Just another day of mechanized slaughter and endless horror, worse than anything written of in Revelations.

It’s 4 hours, still. But all the slow-mo adds another 2.

And probably Superman that killed it.

Or Batman. That would line up with the comics at least.

I'd have thought you'd have to form the League before destroying the League can have any impact, but I'm not a director.

Snyder didn't even let Superman stay dead in the movie in which he died.

If you're going to go back and take away literature from zack why would you grab his comic books and not his collection of Ayn Rand novels?

Putting aside how there already is one, I'd much rather see a shitty take on the fountainhead then a shitty take on the DCEU.

The Fountainhead with ramping action sequences and so on sounds pretty funny.

I’m envisioning it basically getting the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies treatment and suddenly I’m kind of on-board with the idea.
