Just a thought but do you have bad Framerate issues with other games too? Because I really think it might be your 360. I really haven't expereinced anything like that.
In battle I would LOVE to know how he managed to fuck up the camera and get it behind his character. LOVE TO KNOW. That doesnt seem possible and hasnt happened to me once. The camera is so far off from your union in battles its fucking ridiculous that he somehow managed to do that.
I've sort of experience this, but only with really really big mobs. Like dragon-sized mobs.
With the more normal-sized things it's never really been a problem. You can also move the camera with the right stick. I don't know if it zooms. But you can move it.
But you really don't need to be looking at the screen when planning attacks. You only need to look at the mini-map of the battle.
Ok for critical strikes. HOW COULD THE SLOWING DOWN OF THE FRAMERATE MAKE IT HARDER TO HIT THEM?! Its slowed down during critical strikes and I was HAPPY when it did.
I noticed this as well. Getting in criticals that cause Teamwork can be invaluable. As it allows all your guys to attack before the mob does. Which if you're doing Arts, results in a dead mob and no damage to your Union .
Pushing X shows what actions will be taken by your union members. It also shows you who will be getting healed.
I think that was a case of the reviewer not having played enough to really understand the battle system. The mini-maps shows what you're doing and who you're attacking.
If you know who is Deadlocked, it's pretty easy to determine which Union is going to get healed.
The battle system in general is somewhat simple on the surface, but has some complexity that isn't completely obvious, especially not at the beginning.
Also, about Rush. He's a complete country hick in his opening lines. He gets better. I do like the uncomfortable pause every time he says Dave to David. You can just tell that David is screaming inside "Don't call me Dave!!!!".
And I completely understand about going back to older areas and getting stomped.
I went back to the Gaslin Caves after the stuff with your sister and the white mage, and there's a new wing of the place open. I fight a mob and see a new attack Command, "Don't be afraid to die!", which is described as "Attack a powerful monster."
Epic fight with nasty mob results, I think everyone learned a skill or improved a skill. Two unions go down, last one barely takes out the mob.
I go a little futher, and get an epic beat down by some Imps. But I Timeshifted my way past them and got a treasure chest, as well as finding a dig spot that got me a new type of ore (after failing the dig four times).
Just a thought but do you have bad Framerate issues with other games too? Because I really think it might be your 360. I really haven't expereinced anything like that.
Negative. This is the only game that gives these issues, my 360 runs smooth on all others, including games that look far better than this one graphically.

Very odd, as my framerate is not really that bad. Even in huge fights with six+ mob Unions and my three Unions. There's a little hitching here and there, but nothing I would describe as terrible.
The only really terrible graphics stuff was the fight with two Dragons, as they took up the whole screen and I couldn't even see my own Unions half the time.
Is there some sort of FRAPs like thing for the Xbox?

That sucks. Ive not had many problems with the game honestly. Im loving it too much. I can understand why youd be pissed though. That does sound annoying. Ive been fine with framerate drops in games all my life so its never been a big deal but Ive honestly rarely had it with this game. Its weird with what people are saying.

It's more likely to do with not installing to the HD, which everyone else seems to have done. EDIT: This is in regards to Elimination's tech problems.
Still sort of leery on the game. I think I'll wait until I can find it cheap. I'll have Persona 4 to play for a JRPG in a couple weeks and wouldn't want to stop in the middle anyway.

Haha, I've got Fable 2, Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey all sitting on the shelf about 1/4 played.
I'm terrible at actually finishing RPGs. The current plan is to finish Last Remnant then work on finishing LO next.
Too many games, so little time.
And I went and actually read the IGN review. Sheesh, the guy doesn't pull any punches.
He does make a couple points (like the "What the hell?" and "What are you doing?" quote that don't make any sense) but in general seems to be hung up on the graphical glitches.
The randomness of some of the attack commands is a little strange. Like I almost never see Rush's Omnistrike, and have seen David's Ex Machina only twice.
But I did start a fight with the ability to do David's Gae Bolg once, but Curse promptly canceled it .
I guess they're probably Morale-based.
One comment he made was about not having access to healing abilities. If someone is hurt, I always have a healing option. I even get healing options when no one is hurt .
My complaint there is that not all characters can use Herbs. Not really sure how you "unlock" that ability for characters that don't start with it.

Does it auto-run from the HD if you don't tell it to? As you can run the game two ways. One by selecting it as the current game in the tray, and the other by going to the Games List and selecting "run from HD".
When I do the "run from HD" option, it seems to have worse performance.
I could just be imagining things though.

Your guys learn new skills all the time and in towns they often ask you what to focus on or if they should learn a new skill.
Emma can use potions for me, Rush can use potions and lotions and Mc Grady can use Hexes.
I really like the whole "your guys will ask you to go find items or will ask if they can use items you already have" stuff but I do agree that I would love to be able to just give them a weapon

Yeah, whatever the update-mechanism for them "requesting" items could have been done better.
Like at the customization shop, I see weapons that at qtisi only (little guys with big ears).
Let's say I want to make that and give it to a specific character.
What do I do, make it and then wait til he asks for it? And turn down the other characters that ask for it? That's kind of wacky.
I have started to see the guys asking for suggestions in town. Like one guy asked to "borrow" my bracelet. And several times they have asked what to focus their training on.
And they've even said "Let's do some fighting outside". I don't even know what that means.
They also ask for specific customization components, which has a yes or no answer. Which is kind of odd. If I say no, will they customize their weapon differently?
Not giving direct commands in battle, I can sort of understand to an extent. And I do kind of like how characters will auto-upgrade their stuff in the field by "requesting" loot. What I want for that is a "I'm looking for X" thing in their character screen.
But for weapons bought in stores, a "Give this to X" command would be nice.

Is that what that means? I had like four guys ask me at once last night. David asked me first, and I was sort of expecting some sort of scripted duel or something.
David has been really annoying, he really wants to upgrade his weapon, but I have no clue where Iron Ore is .

Haha, you can buy iron ore in some cities or you take Mr Diggs and let him do some mining on some rocks. I think Blackdale should be a good place.
So, is it as bad as reviews are saying? Once I pull the Heroin that is Fallout 3 out of my arm and complete Dead Space, I am thinking a nice RPG might be in store, trying to figure out which one on the 360 I should get.

Of course its not as bad as the reviews are saying. Nothing is ever as good or as bad a review will tell you. From an JRPG fan, ie myself, I think the game is very good and I am enjoying every bit of it.

The two cities I can visit are not selling it yet, so maybe I haven't progressed far enough.
If I don't find any in the Ivory Peaks or whatever, I'll swing back by Blackdale.
I've been neglecting the main quest to do random stuff.

After you've done what you are supposed to do storywise now,you will be able to put 4 leaders and up to 9 units total in your party.
Fingers crossed for the PC version! It just needs combat framerate optimization and some more flashy effects (that 1-2 second wait before a 'special' attack/spell which ends up looking like a normal swing, what the fuck??) and it's a winner in my eyes.

Will that actually work? If I buy something, will another character claim it? I haven't seen them do that just yet. They only claim stuff from the loot screen.
It would be kind of annoying if I had to find a mob to drop it for the guy to use it to customize his weapon.

Im like..."Ill go back through the Ruins again..why the hell not, I kicked its ass last time." But later in the dungeon I open a door that had nothing last time and these tough bastards popped out and scared the fuck out of me. GIANT motherfuckers. I won though! It was awesome. You will love to know that at the point I'm at, the ruins, the caves and blackdale are all about twice or thrice the size than they were at the beginning because new paths opened up
You will love to know that at the point I'm at, the ruins, the caves and blackdale are al about twice or thrice the size than they were at the beginning because new paths opened up
They just need to hang signs over the new areas saying "Free ass kickings inside!", as the monsters look the same but their level is quite a bit increased.
I'm like oh look, an Imp! I'll pull in a link of two... rarrr!! Ow, wha?!? ahhhhh***splat****.....
And another interesting thing, after you kill a quest boss mob (which generally kicks you back to town) it's generally worthwhile to go back to the boss room. I've seen Mr. Diggs treasure spots in boss rooms after a couple quests now.
Oh awesome. I cant wait for that. Rush keeps getting attacked and getting destroyed pretty hardcore.
Do you have all the guys in the same Union? It's not always worthwhile to make seperate Unions. Just because you can have two, doesn't mean you should make two.
With nine Units, I've currently got them split into three Unions. But for one Boss Fight, I did have to change it to Unions of four and five, as I needed the increased Health (and magic Def).
Another good review has just come out - this time from Gameplayer.
Hahahaha, it's like the Gameplayer guy is playing a different game than the IGN guy.
But it boils down to the IGN guy got seriously hung up on the graphics and refused to see the gameplay itself.
The Gameplyer guy doesn't even mention the graphics, ever. He just gushes over the gameplay and how much fun the game is to play.
Just shows that people have different tastes and that you can't please everyone.
My favorite part of the ign review was where he dinged it for not having check points. Because you know checkpoints are a staple of jrpgs.
It was really silly.
Basically, save before opening any door. And save before crossing "zone boundaries". That's easy enough IMO.
I don't find myself saving constantly, I just keep an eye on the map so I know where I am.

Its just funny because...what...Blue Dragon had checkpoints. Thats it. Well ok Lost Odyssey did but the way they handled checkpoints was QUITE different from Blue Dragon. I really cant believe they bitch about this no checkpoint business when thats how fucking RPGs have been for a LONG time now. He was just pissed about stupid things and decided to go on and on about shit taht didnt matter because he sucked at the game. You know thats why.

I just read the SA forum thread, which helpfully links to some videos with nice battles.
Probably spoiler (a rare monster fight) but it's a pretty awesome fight, very very little slowdown (probably 5 fps drop if that). I don't mind the silly waits before a special attack now, it all looks fast paced enough.
destroyed that...fire demon thing that the mage in white summons in the Blackdale caves.
If you go back to Blackdale now, you can go right at the entrance and go to a whole new part of the caves. Just expect to get your arse handed to you in the new section. We're talking guys that might be able to kill a Union of three guys in one attack.
I've seen the new areas of Blackdale and the Ruins.
I have not seen a new bit for Gaslin though. I may have to go back there. They're really quite small, so it's nice to hear there's a larger part.
And I know Dillmoor has a closed door that probably opens some more stuff. Just haven't gotten the quest for that yet.

When I do the "run from HD" option, it seems to have worse performance.
I could just be imagining things though.
David has been really annoying, he really wants to upgrade his weapon, but I have no clue where Iron Ore is
Haha, you can buy iron ore in some cities or you take Mr Diggs and let him do some mining on some rocks. I think Blackdale should be a good place.
Of course its not as bad as the reviews are saying. Nothing is ever as good or as bad a review will tell you. From an JRPG fan, ie myself, I think the game is very good and I am enjoying every bit of it.
XD HEY! HEY! Im dumb. So DEAL WITH IT! (I didnt realize that Union Status meant "what they will do with their attacks") I thought it meant like...Health and AP....>.>....SHUT UP KLYKA NO ONE LIKES YOU ANYWAYS! :P
I am an internet celebrity and you will love me!
Also, I did a quest and it took like almost an hour to complete with lots of battles. I complete it, go back to town and Emma says "We should do some battles, I'm getting rusty."
I kicked her out of my union for a few fights.
The two cities I can visit are not selling it yet, so maybe I haven't progressed far enough.
If I don't find any in the Ivory Peaks or whatever, I'll swing back by Blackdale.
I've been neglecting the main quest to do random stuff.
I was figuring it was pretty common stuff, I just hadn't see any yet. So I wanted to smack David and tell him to be patient
Hah. Dont worry Im falling for you Klyka :winky: But seriously I havent been asked about that stuff yet. I only have 3 people in my Union right now. Id have 4 but everyones a leader and I can only have 3 leaders. Tis sad...
Yeah if its anything like the Copper Ore quest just wait until it becomes available in the shop. Thats how I got the Copper. Im not too far in so I dont know much of this game yet but still.
After you've done what you are supposed to do storywise now,you will be able to put 4 leaders and up to 9 units total in your party.
So 4 leaders and 5 soldiers.
Will that actually work? If I buy something, will another character claim it? I haven't seen them do that just yet. They only claim stuff from the loot screen.
It would be kind of annoying if I had to find a mob to drop it for the guy to use it to customize his weapon.
They will. If you buy like 10 iron ore and dave needs 2 he will take it into his personal inventory.
Oh awesome. I cant wait for that. Rush keeps getting attacked and getting destroyed pretty hardcore. And you know what scared me? Chimeras. Totally unexpected. Im like..."Ill go back through the Ruins again..why the hell not, I kicked its ass last time." But later in the dungeon I open a door that had nothing last time and these tough bastards popped out and scared the fuck out of me. GIANT motherfuckers. I won though! It was awesome. I love how enemies change in areas its great for going back through again.

Good to see not every site is as terrible as IGN, but still.
You will love to know that at the point I'm at, the ruins, the caves and blackdale are all about twice or thrice the size than they were at the beginning because new paths opened up
They just need to hang signs over the new areas saying "Free ass kickings inside!", as the monsters look the same but their level is quite a bit increased.
It was really silly.
Basically, save before opening any door. And save before crossing "zone boundaries". That's easy enough IMO.
I don't find myself saving constantly, I just keep an eye on the map so I know where I am.
And the two reviews compared to eachother are hilarious.
Oh really? Wow. Thats sweet. Damn this game just gets better....I just ummm
But I love how enemies change in areas. And now I know they even open up new parts. Thats too freakin awesome.
Probably spoiler (a rare monster fight) but it's a pretty awesome fight, very very little slowdown (probably 5 fps drop if that). I don't mind the silly waits before a special attack now, it all looks fast paced enough.
