I like doing the Lua spy rooms every once in a while, but farming them gets mind-numbing really fast.
That goes for just about anything in this game, really. That's why I constantly mix up mission types, planets (different tilesets, you see), and frame/weapon combos (especially on lower level planets, where there's a lot more leeway and room to play with builds). It's less focused than doing one thing over and over and over so it takes me longer to get certain things, but I feel like I burn out slower doing it this way.
I think I had them all when I finally tried to get my Tigris prime to 100%. Maybe bought one or two from Baro, can't really remember. I do remember that I did not do any serious hive grinding though.
but actually, running hive isn't so bad. It's what you want out of a warframe mission. Go to a few places, kill a bunch of enemies along the way, have some fun. The eris tileset also seems to be pretty compact, and I really didn't need to search far to find all the caches, which is neat.
edit: i'm actually pretty surprised with how much i ran kuva spy for ivara that i don't have frigid blast
edit2: i guess actually for harrow
edit3: god it's so much easier with ivara
I love the Corinth asthetics but have never been able to get a build I liked for it. Last night however I managed to unveil a +172% Dmg / + 50% Magazine Cap Riven, so playing around I have come up with a build to try and go for raw damage and big numbers over crit / status.
This gives 1.7k Impact, 2.6k Puncture, 1.8k slash, 14.9k radiation and 5.5k cold
I know this is never going to be meta, and I should be building towards crit... but the weapon is just so much fun. Other than getting Primed Point Blank, are there any other changes I could be looking to make?

The Corinth was my go-to while I was doing the star chart, and was the second primary I 'tatered (after the Kohm) just because the air burst is such a great crowd control tool regardless of what faction you're fighting. I've since gravitated away from it in favor of the Arca Plasmor and Vaycor Hek, but it's still one hell of a shotgun. It basically is the grenade launcher all the other grenade launchers secretly want to be.
Also, thanks to everyone who brought me along on my first hunt. I had no idea what was going on, it was just really loud. Now I'm trying to get up to speed on the world of arcanes and amps, and I'm learning that, almost 320 hours in I still have so much more to learn.

I use sneaking with Ivara in Pago to get my Simaris rep up. Scanning people while invisible and enemies fully nonalert is 200-250 rep.
You do have to shank them though, because I discovered that the game just reuses dudes you don't kill. So if you continue into the stage without killing peeps, all the guys you find will be "already scanned" because they're the same dudes, just teleported.
The Corinths main attack IMHO is the airburst, so I would build for airburst mostly.
Chilling reload+Contagious spread for Viral damage (half health is good) and improved reload (you'll do so much reloading with a corinth, even with extra mag)
After that. Blaze, Riven, Vicious spread, Point Blank, Hell's chamber and Chilling grasp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph9f2bdW_Eo

See, I rarely used the airburst because the main mode of fire is just so fucking satisfying. I forget my build, but it would decimate crowds

I agree, kinda: when running lower level relic missions I'd just spam the burst to clear large crowds quickly, but on tougher missions/sorties I'd stick with the main fire mode. That gun does put out a shit ton of damage with even a modest amount of modding.
So. I just started this. Blind, haven't read any FAQs or anything.
Cleared the first boss. Randos just appear in my group out of nowhere, which makes things confusing. It appears I get signed up for missions while browsing my ship/heading off to the bathroom/getting a sandwich. I come back to my desk to find myself dead in an unfamilliar environment.
I picked the Volt, seems to do just fine for now, though I'm sure I'll have to figure out some upgrades pretty soon.
Top left corner is where you go to look for whether you have an open mission for Public, Friends Only, Invite Only and Solo. I think default is public.

Thanks for that, will check that out. I'm not averse to multiplay, but I need to get my bearings first.

By default, your missions on the solar system chart are public. So are many quests but you're less likely to have people on the same step as you playing at the same time as you progress further.
If you don't leave your squad after the mission, you can queue up or be queued for a new one. This can be handy for some situations where you need to hit a node on the map multiple times for an objective (such as invasions, which require you to do 3 missions for a faction in a node for a reward) but also means you want to leave the squad via clicking on your profile icon in the upper left if you're taking a break from mission running.
The marketplace is... overwhelming.
It helps to check "Hide Owned" and "Blueprints Only" to filter some of the noise. You're mostly going to be looking at Warframe and weapon blueprints. The latter lets you drill down even further.

I went into my Foundry this morning to look for my Forma recipe to see if I was ready to start making another and I began to wonder if there is a way to pin/favorite blueprints so that they always appear at the top of the list.

Will I unlock some Warframes on my own through regular progress, or do I just have to pick one I think looks cool, grind for it, and hope for the best?

Most of the newer warframes are gained via quests, while the older ones are facemashing bosses.

Important footnote here, in case it's not totally obvious: these quests rewards the BLUEPRINTS for the components of the Warframes. You still need to build them (time + resources).

As far as I know the marketplace has blueprints for stuff that doesn't drop in missions. Wait, there are also separate blueprints for sale in your clan dojo as well, if your clan has them researched (which is why we highly encourage new players to join a class in our alliance, because we do have those blueprints for sale)

The usual paradigm is that the actual Warframe blueprint comes from the marketplace (for credits), while the component blueprints come from drops. The exceptions there are some blueprints are drops (which is rare) and some you get from story missions.
Each Warframe (usually) has 4 components to build: A chassis, a systems, and a neruoptics, and some material (usually Orokin cells, but it varies). In turn each part requires 4 materials. And even though it's not technically a material, each item also requires credits (cost of doing business or something).
Each component can be crafted simultaneously and takes 24 hours. Once all 3 major components are completed, you can build the main blueprint which takes another 72 hours. Each step can be rushed by spending platinum (the premium currency).
And learn from my fail with this warning: when browsing the market for blueprints, make damn sure you don't click "buy" that has the platinum icon unless you really want to spend the platinum (and have the item built and ready to go).
I have been leveling up Broken War because it is a weapon in my inventory and I needed to level things up to increase my Mastery Rank. At Rank 26 I notice it has 56 Capacity (52 without the stance mod) and I am kind of blown away. I did not expect it to have an Orokin Catalyst pre-installed.

I think all quest reward items that come fully formed come with a potato already.

You'll hold off on buying the blueprints because the frame blueprints are only a quarter of the equation.
Each boss of a planet can drop one of three blueprints for a warframe part: systems, neuroptics, and chassis. You need to build all those and then those get used in the blueprint for the frame itself. It's a two step process and it's not worth blowing the credits on a frame BP without all the parts first.

Okay, so, don't fill the Plague Star mixer unless you came loaded for bear. It makes you have to fight four fucking Lephantis. Ask me how I know!
Yeah, if you have one or two people that know what they're doing you can kill 4 maxed out Lephantises in a few minutes. Otherwise it can be kind of a slog

It took a while for the random pug I was in, because a) we were not actually expecting four goddamn Lephantis, and b) I got bugged halfway through the first and became unable to use abilities, melee, switch weapons, or revive myself.
Thank god I happened to have brought a tiberon prime on a lark, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to damage it for shit. But precision aiming at the stupid melee face while the ground is constantly shaking and a million small infested are hitting you is hard.
So I have a "Medallion Hunt" loadout. It's Limbo with all the loot radar and super large (90m across) and efficient cataclysms so I can pop all the containers on the map. I used to use Equinox, but sometimes there isn't an enemy around to charge Maim with. As I'm switching from right side syndicates to left side I'm starting to get lowbie New Loka missions. I ran an Interception by standing in the center of the map, rifted, and when a point would flash I'd aim a cataclysm at it and kill everything. I never even saw what I killed. It quickly crossed over from amazing and awesome into eerily detached.
DE has made rework an ongoing activity, so Ember will eventually come up again. Right now I think they've finally got Revenant about where they want him, people seem to be in love with Nezha's changes, and DE still need to figure out what to do with Vauban. I don't know what might be in the queue between Vauban and revisiting Ember.
I hope they figure out something good for Vauban. His prime is stupidly expensive to build and mine is just collecting dust.

So in a rage filled monologue it was implied to me that I had chosen to host a game, is there a way to choose that?
Because I never want to be the host again thanks.
As far as I know, the game chooses the host. It's not something you can control or opt out of.

The best I can tell, to control not hosting a game is if you queue up and it doesn't immediately match you to a group of people then stop and retry. So if you start a mission and it just starts counting down, then you're going to be the host and people will be put in to your game. The p2p system this game has is one of my few gripes because it really does suck to be hosted by a toaster but I'm not gonna rage at that person. I'd highly suggest reporting that person.

other option is to get a strun wraith from invasions, that only needs three 60/60s to hit 100% status
That goes for just about anything in this game, really. That's why I constantly mix up mission types, planets (different tilesets, you see), and frame/weapon combos (especially on lower level planets, where there's a lot more leeway and room to play with builds). It's less focused than doing one thing over and over and over so it takes me longer to get certain things, but I feel like I burn out slower doing it this way.

but actually, running hive isn't so bad.
Steam // Secret Satan
Riven - Hells Chamber - Viscious Spread - Blaze
Incendiary Coat - Charged Shell - Chilling Grasp - Point Blank
This gives 1.7k Impact, 2.6k Puncture, 1.8k slash, 14.9k radiation and 5.5k cold
I know this is never going to be meta, and I should be building towards crit... but the weapon is just so much fun. Other than getting Primed Point Blank, are there any other changes I could be looking to make?
Chilling reload+Contagious spread for Viral damage (half health is good) and improved reload (you'll do so much reloading with a corinth, even with extra mag)
After that. Blaze, Riven, Vicious spread, Point Blank, Hell's chamber and Chilling grasp

Fixed that, just in case someone comes along and then gets really confused.
The marketplace is... overwhelming.
It helps to check "Hide Owned" and "Blueprints Only" to filter some of the noise. You're mostly going to be looking at Warframe and weapon blueprints. The latter lets you drill down even further.

Will I unlock some Warframes on my own through regular progress, or do I just have to pick one I think looks cool, grind for it, and hope for the best?
Most of the newer warframes are gained via quests, while the older ones are facemashing bosses.
Warframe/Steam: NFyt
Important footnote here, in case it's not totally obvious: these quests rewards the BLUEPRINTS for the components of the Warframes. You still need to build them (time + resources).
Ok so I should hold off of buying blueprints from the marketplace because it's possible for me to pick up some of those blueprints by doing quests, is that right, or are marketplace blueprints their own, separate thing?
As far as I know the marketplace has blueprints for stuff that doesn't drop in missions. Wait, there are also separate blueprints for sale in your clan dojo as well, if your clan has them researched (which is why we highly encourage new players to join a class in our alliance, because we do have those blueprints for sale)
I hope to join the PA clan when ready, but I want to get my feet wet first; I only started playing yesterday! I'll play solo for a bit until I get a handle on the basics, then I'll likely come back and ask for an invite
So what's worth getting from the rewards here? The Zaw parts are unique and any weapons in general are useful for MR at least obviously but what else?

There's no reason not to join now! It'll at least give you access to alliance chat so you can ask questions and stuff (if anyone is paying attention to chat). Nobody minds new players, and we are in fact quite glad to help! At the very least you can chat with people who aren't region chat (it's a toxic cesspool)
I promise to send in a request soon, I just like to figure things out on my own for a bit before joining. Just a personal foible.
