I just took Rem in with just her BSB and I made it to phase 6 fine, but couldn't do the last 30% before the boss starts spamming the 50k fixed damage attack. I suspect she has to be legend dived.
I might give it a try with Gaffgarion, with USB+BSB. Burst has both an Ether command and a healing command, though they are just 2/1 hits respectively. Still, that means I can use Dread Weapon for heals (or Dire Heal, I guess). No doublecast aside from RM though, and his Ultra chase is only 2 hits, so he may not be able to clear the final phase in time.
Stupid question: is Ironfist Earth actually counterproductive with Tifa's USB2? The attack powers up with repeated uses, but Monk Double means she can only use it up to 5 times. Unless it counts the Dualcast?

Each cast counts as a unique cast as part of the doubelcast. So by the second time you use the ability it's at max damage.
e: At least I think so. That's anecdotal observation *goes googling*
In a couple weeks I'm probably gonna have all characters @ level 99. Weird feeling.
I actually just went and egged everyone up yesterday for the hell of it. The weirdest part is seeing MC3s as a reward and going "well THIS is useless."

it does count, but it would be productive anyway because gaia rush is bad and ironfist at base level is still better and also 5 hits v 4.
This Quetzalcoatl fight is a major pain in the ass to plan without a chain.
I did get him down to 90% on a trial run, but the everything fell apart so, so badly.
What the hell are you packing that you got to 90% on a trial run? I'm legitimately curious.
Bartz Glint/BSB3/AOSB was the main damage dealer, with Ignis BSB and its ridiculous buffs boosting him to max out spellblade hits. Guy was using Heavy to stone press, Aerith USB2 for healing, and I was running Ingus BSB2 for radiant shield. Ignis also throws crit 100% on Guy so that Stone Press breaks the damage cap.
But I screwed up buffing Guy and having Stone Press ready at the end, and then it all ended right quick.
I'm debating if I should dive Guy (got his BSB to imperil when a stone press isn't imminent), and I can't decide if Ingus is worth it for his shield and some light damage. I could go with Tifa for radiant and OSB, or Alphinaud for radiant and buff, or just cut radiant out all together for something else.
Also wondering if it's worth picking up Bartz's triplecast LMR from the dream select.
Ultimately I gotta learn Quetz's patterns, I'm getting better at the start at least!
Be aware that 4* is a good jump from 3*, and we had time to farm 3* and have full level 99 magicite teams before tackling them - don't expect to be able to dive right in.
That being said, don't also waste time trying to get every 3* magicite to 99 - most of them aren't important in the long run.
Reminder that we have a scheduled maintenance for midnight PST. Also tomorrow is Chocobo Shop refresh, so burn your stamina and stamina potions or whatever
Dungeon update 49 will feature IV: TAY, XIII-2, and Type-0.
Dungeon update is a combination of my favorite realm (XIII), a realm I am in dire need of stuff for (Typo), and a realm that is full of a sea of garbage for bad characters who don't get good stuff (Forte). I can already feel what I'm going to be getting from the lucky draw.

Huh. I've got most of that - Bartz USB1 instead of Glint, Elarra instead of Aerith, no Ignis BSB... And I have Cinque and Galuf BSBs. Is Ignis BSB sufficiently fantastic that I should do a Dream Select pull to grab it? It seems to be showing up in a lot of 5* Magicite parties in Japan (and now here, I guess?). Do Ignis's buffs last for one hit, or a certain number of hits, or 15 seconds?
Also, any opinions on whether Cinque or Galuf is better for Heavy with just BSB?
Sadly Ice Tech might be my best tech. After that I'd say Water (Rikku Chain + Tidus USB + ASB). Regardless I think I'm gonna focus on realm stuff I still need.

That's, um, pretty good water tech. Chain + Arcane can help you blow through the bullshit last phase of the fight. If you have a decent healer with last stand and/or magic blink, you should be able to get a win there, assuming your hones are decent (you probably want R3 Sapphire Shots for both Rikku and Tidus, and either a spellblader or a ninja as your third DPS).
Okay... I'm starting to see a potential path to killing Quetzalcoatl. I've only got about halfway so far, but it seems like a team that might be able to do it, and I've progressed to planning out each turn instead of flailing armlessly at the boss. It's probably gonna take some more Legend dives (for example, Ovelia needs more healing power on her USB, and Gladiolus needs that buildup on hits taken LM2 for leeway with Stone Press), but I might be able to make this work eventually. And even if it doesn't work, it's a strategy that can easily slot in an Earth Chain or Onion Ninja as an upgrade, if I one day get those.
+3

I got Palom and Barb USBs and LMRs and am at work grinding the absurd amount of wisdom motes needed to legend dive them

Lucky, Crystal Tower, and Newcomers relic draws are on their way out near the end of the month.
Instead we will have Realm relic draws (1st pull is 15 mythril, full price afterwards) and Full throttle relic draw (500 gem one-time pull, then you select an OSB/BSB/healer BSB from a realm)
I'll see if I can dig up the full throttle select list, ive seen it somewhere before.

Removed everything I have already. kinda annoyed at myself for having previously selected Squall's burst because then VIII would probably make the most sense.
Gonna have to think on this, but kinda leaning V just to have another elemental burst for Bartz and that OSB's element coverage since I've got his glint. Or Tactics, but I've got Agrias's USB.
FF1 is the best value for me as I have no dupes; though there are a few realms where it might be worth eating a dupe or two for something a little more desired.
Quetzalcoatl trial runs continue. Much failure, nowhere near as good as before either. My kingdom for a chain

What's your RM?
Dr Mog.
Guessing I need to change it to weakness and just build meter the old fashioned way?
Build meter with Voltech, heal with Drainga, and use plus damage or maybe 15% dual cast RM.

Umm, always pull I guess? The weapons seem kinda useful and the armors should be nice stat boosts, so good for me.

I'd save Tiamat unless you're stacked. It's probably the hardest of the non-holy/dark

Pretty sure it's not on this Dream Select, though. Maybe next time.
