Yeah, I'm just ignoring 5* water for now. I don't have any lightning chains, and lightning was one of my weaker elements (I MIGHT be able to swing magic, maybe), so I don't feel like trying to force-feed that needle.
A redditor posted an update to picking Magicite passives for 5*, for use in planning how you want to do your magicite inheritance. If you don't want to read text but just want to look at a grid of numbers, that's here.
Surprising thing for me is how good Attack Boon 20 and Magic Boon 20 are, even if you are massively buffing your ATK/MAG - they're still better than even the second copy of (Element) Attack 15! Also, Defense and Resistance Boon 20 are remarkably effective even if you're running Wall and Protect/Shell, being nearly as good as Blade/Spell Ward 8, though of course they don't help against piercing attacks. And HP Boon 8 could be worth 1500 HP, wow!

ugh quetz to 10% is very doable but i just don't know what to do to get over the hump here. i'm sure it's possible but i can't figure it.
if i didn't need to bring stone press, i could swap guy/cinque out for red and make that work, but just bartz or tifa isn't enough damage even with chain.
I have a metric ton of "okay, sure" lightning stuff, but very few top-tier. My best thing is King's USB, which is awesome, but chews through hones like nothing else, and is only actually BROKEN in tandem with a chain.
When I get an afternoon to really dig into it, I'm gonna make a solid try at the 5 and 7 crazy difficulty. 12 is not even close, and I feel like I SHOULD be able to make some headway in the 8, but for some reason I get fucked up proper.

Famfrit does some damage. May need two healers. Didn’t see protect at all. Going to swap dispel for magic break because that faith hurts.
@Knight_ - you were the one asking about Guy dive, right?
I bit the bullet and did that, and my Quetz team seems more stable (I still haven't gotten the timing right to kill in under a minute, but it's blatantly obvious that if I do the paralyze ultra cures properly I will be). So Guy+BSB for stone press, with dive, is doing a good bit better for me than Gladio+BSB with half dive. YMMV, of course, but I'm actually considering swapping Shell Dragon to something else for my primary magicite just to get more hits/hit harder.
OMG DAILY DRAW. should I attempt the 4* Magicite with this too? Already had Rikku Chain and Tidus USB + AOSB
Nice pull! Probably makes you want to hone a third copy of Sapphire Shot, though. Alternatively you can just have Wakka do Wrath -> USB a bunch.
If you don't end up putting Wakka on the team, at least it's a second 6* +water ball, which Rikku will be happy to carry for you. (Tidus should already be using his USB ball)
what's better for Tidus? His Ball or using his AOSB sword for his water skills?
Sharpshooter abilities (Sapphire Shot!) get a bonus to damage if you're carrying a ranged weapon. Also, the balls for Tidus USB and Wakka USB naturally boost water damage, which the Tidus AOSB sword does not do. Either of those benefits outweighs the 22 extra ATK on the sword.

I think you want protect and shell for Famfrit. Did much better with tyro in for cid. Protect comes out late. Silence killed me though. When AI comes out should be able to get the timing down and win I hope.

Maybe I should give Lightning Ace Striker. She might be able to contribute more to the fight by sacrificing personal damage for a reliable 3 stacks of Imperil on Famfrit.

How much better is the six star lighting water spell blade than the five star?
The 4 hits are at a 1.1 multiplier instead of a 0.8 one, (don't ask me to explain the math behind damage calculation, please). Also, since it's a 6-star ability, the one using it will gain more soul break meter for using it.

well this could have gone better, but the ace lmr is alright since i'm gonna take his bsb/osb set from that 500 gem thing because my type 0 teams are dire.

2/11 - Ace LMR/Sice USB - T0 and FF1 have almost nothing so this was pretty nice. Have Deuce BSB, Queen OSB, Cinque BSB and these two things. I have a basic team for T0 now!
I should put Ovelia in the center slot for Famfrit. Center slot gets hit with every Savage Briny Cannonade, which means slightly more meter for USB spam.

That ain't a bad haul! Not sure what I'll do with Yang USB (already have Tifa's USB2, Cinque USB, Dorgann USB, and Kelger USB), but I'm not gonna turn down a decent USB.
STarting to feel like 5-star magicites just aren't sufficient for breaking rages. The timing is annoyingly just slightly off sometimes (I've had lovely results where KB shows up like 0.05 seconds before Famfrit goes into rage, about as often as the opposite scenario), and there's that awful bit between the magicite going away and being up for use again where I have to sit through an extended rage period. And against Famfrit, that's particularly terrible, because of the extra speed the boss gets. Ovelia is about as fast as the boss normally, but in rage, she can't spend time on a turn to cast Curada for meter. My runs hit a stone wall about 66% of the way through the health bar, when I'm caught with neither Ovelia or Nanaki having any meter to use to survive the next attack, largely because of taking extra damage during that rage mode.
This makes the upcoming OSB/BSB/BSB selection really hard. I want to grab something for a realm that needs it (T-0 would get me 3 new toys and a particualrly good Bard BSB), or even grab Bartz's OSB for the variety, but I feel like Famfrit is gonna be at a standstill unless I select Lightning's OSB, to supplement KB.

Quite awesome. Mind sharing your setup/strategy? How did you deal with that late-fight Silence; does Tyro have his BSB to block it, or did you skip past it? You used Magic Breakdown to cancel Faith, IIRC; how much of an impact did that make on moves like Briny Cannonade or Tsunami?

Here is the full setup:
I start off with Elarra Breakdown, Tyro GodWall, Kain Cyclone Bolt. Edgar goes through Spark Offering until he can cast his USB, then continues, swapping to tempest strike when he runs out. Lightining goes Thunderstrike to USB to BSB to AOSB to USB (or dead in my case)
I used Tyro USB1 Haste Stock Astra Instant Cast 3 to block the silence. His BSB would be better, but you need to time it right so it lands after the Graviga. The Astra sticks around forever, so I cast it when he had down time. I mostly entrusted to Elarra so she could keep Magicka Albuming us through it. Brought Fabula Priestess for even more instant heals. Tried to get her BSB up while Famfrit was doing Savage Tsunami so it landed after the graviga. Last Stand was important for me trying to single heal for so long.
After Breakdown and Godwall the smaller attacks were hitting for 1-2.4 k or so. The main reason I slotted magic breakdown was the savage Tsunami was breaking last stand everytime unless I broke faith.
This is not what you'd probably call a strategy. I'm going to try and refine it further. I think I'm going to realm dungeon for a bit though.
Two rainbows are dupes (Snow BSB1, Ceodore SSB).
Third rainbow was Lightning Glint
Disco was Noel USB
This is pretty decent.
I pretty much have to take XIII on the "select an OSB/BSB/healerBSB" at this point as I have Lightning's dualcast LMR and glint but nothing better than a unique SB for her. Also I don't have Vanille BSB so the healer burst works too.
Hm... Slotting Magic Breakdown or the equivalent is actually going to be the hardest thing for me in a copycat strategy, I think. Whether I go with Ovelia or Porom, my Last Stand healers can't slot it in. Tyro or Nanaki (Most likely Nanaki, since I need that Astra) could, but that's sacrificing Wrath/Entrust. Garnet's been useful for her chain and off-healing, but her Support access is limited to 2-star moves. Aranea can't sacrifice a slot for Magic Break. So I guess that leaves only Lightning who can slot it in, which probably means R5 Thundering Quadstrike.
I'm honestly surprised that you had enough damage with no external ATK buffs. Oh wait, is Kain using his Chain? That would explain it.

Holy hell that thing hits hard, and I had forgotten vanille's burst is just instant ENTRY, but the commands kinda suck.
