For anyone disappointed that this is not about the opera by Mozart, please enjoy this alternate [chat]

    wikipedia wrote:
Don Giovanni (Italian pronunciation: [dɔn dʒoˈvanni]; K. 527; complete title: Il dissoluto punito, ossia il Don Giovanni, literally The Rake Punished, namely Don Giovanni or The Libertine Punished) is an opera in two acts with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. It is based on the legends of Don Juan, a fictional libertine and seducer. It was premiered by the Prague Italian opera at the National Theater (of Bohemia), now called the Estates Theatre, on 29 October 1787.[1] Da Ponte's libretto was billed as a dramma giocoso, a common designation of its time that denotes a mixing of serious and comic action. Mozart entered the work into his catalogue as an opera buffa. Although sometimes classified as comic, it blends comedy, melodrama and supernatural elements.

A staple of the standard operatic repertoire, Don Giovanni for the five seasons 2011/12 through 2015/16 was ninth on the Operabase list of the most-performed operas worldwide.[2] It has also proved a fruitful subject for writers and philosophers.

My dad plays Trivia Crack. A trivia game with gacha-style card collecting. He’s well in his way to having all the cards. I’m talking Missing less than 15 cards. He’s spent no money on it so far.

He added: 'I chapped the woman's door countless times over the years to see if I could do anything for her, but she would not answer the door.

'Each time I went to the doctors and told them I was really worried about the woman. The few times she left her flat she would ghost past my window. She looked ghastly.

'She would be bent over with her trolley and wore a pair of baseball boots. One time when she was ill and said she was really hungry, she gave me a list.

'It was tins of food that all had to be bought from Poundland. Two tins of fruit. Two tins of Italian peeled tomatoes, two tins of spam, six tins of carnation milk.

'Nothing cooked. Even when I brought it back she wouldn't answer the door. I had to put a note through the letterbox. I went for her messages as long as I could because it was the Christian thing to do.'

    ...

Mr McDonald added: 'They are saying I did nothing for Genevieve, but I did everything I could to help her when she was alive. In the ten years I have been here she has never had a visitor so I don't know why I'm getting abuse online.

'I was really worried about her and went to the doctors three times to see if they could do anything, but they would go to her door and she wouldn't answer it.

'The same with social workers. The housing officer came up and she wouldn't answer. They all asked me what else they could do?'

    so he's an ok bloke

the Mail reporting is still shite though

Gatcha games that have had me for more than the initial progression ramp and into slow progress addiction-based grind:

    Fishing Superstars ($20 spent)
    Puzzle and Dragon
    Spirit Stones
    Magic the Gathering Puzzle Quest
    Hill Climb Racing

Others haven't hooked me into addiction or I've just never tried.

tyrannus, suppose I take physical delivery of an option. should I record the cost of the underlying contract at the strike price, or at the spot price? should the exercise of the option itself realize the (strike - spot) as P&L?

what was the cost of entering into the option? what was the premium you paid? that should be your cost basis on the option. and yeah generally the exercise/expiration creates a realizable event. the underlying stock's cost basis should be, like, strike price * shares + premium + commission.

let's say the premium and all transaction/broker fees are zero - I bought an ideal option at the market, like a spherical cow. There's just the strike.

IFRS9 is pretty straightforward: record at the strike. The exercise doesn't realize anything - all of the P&L is still unrealized on the underlying.

GAAP seems to suggest things like
... securities bought when exercising an option are recorded at the option strike price plus the fair value of the option at the exercise date

doesn't the bolded mean: record at the spot? the fair value of an ITM option at the exercise date is the spot less the strike.
