I was browsing my hearthstone screenshots, and realised I never posted this one
This was back when Ragnaros was in standard, but I figure people love to see salty friend requests:
That dude should have looked at the time to get some chill.
0-3 in the brawl. Three warlocks. No chances with a mechrattle hunter deck. We're in lockstone for a while, aren't we?
Went 4-3 with token druid, all 3 losses against control warlock (its worst matchup according to VS, and it's pretty horrendous, something like a 25% winrate). Beat a control warlock too, so 4/7 of my matches were against control warlock.
I've never liked rogue, but a friend of mine was talking to me about his Kingsbane deck, and I realized I had everything I needed. I've only been doing enough wins each month for the card back, so I'm slowly clawing my way back up from 25, but I am having a lot of fun with it so far.
My favorite so far was a quest priest who played Amara something like 5 times, and copied my deck with Benedictus. He got all of my weapon buff cards, but I already had Kingsbane equipped. He did get my Valeera the Hollow (and wasn't paying attention to his hand size and burned Anduin). He could have won - he drew a vanish and got Benedictus back, all he had to do was wait for Kingsbane to get shuffled, but he played it early and he wasn't able to do anything about a 17 power lifesteal weapon.
My second favorite was the warrior who quit after I played Kingsbane on turn 2.
I’m almost guaranteed to win less than 30% of games using any legend decks posted here. The exception is that old Secrets Tempo Mage @Sensational posted a few months ago. I was like 30-7 with an 18-game winning streak.
Having fun with Deathrattle Rogue now that I’ve reached rank 5. It’s unexpected and not the same old DruidLockStone we’ve all been living in.

Deathrattle Rogue with Malygos finisher is moving up on my hate list. In particular I got OTKed when they had 7 mana and while that was exceptional, it made me notice every time I've been beat by the deck since.

After playing since almost the beginning of the game (closed beta), for however many years, struggling to and then finally hitting Legend, all the blood sweat and tears, all the time effort and money I've spent and invested...
I uninstalled.
I was really, really excited for Boomsday. It had such cool theming, Mechs were coming back whoo hoo!!! And yet, somehow, despite injecting ~130 new cards into the game... Nothing has changed. It feels almost exactly the same save for like, a couple new decks springing up. This is Witchwood redux, guest starring Deathrattle Rogue, Mech/Deathrattle Hunter, Mech Warrior, and Midrange Shudderwock Shaman. That's basically it, like 4 new decks. And if that happens, ever, I feel like they've fucked up on a fundamental level. This is basically the same impact that Adventures used to have. ~130 new cards and it barely changes things.
But, this has honestly been a long time coming for me I think. I've not been having fun with the game for some time now. I've got so, so many grievances with the game/card design and their overall approach to handling the game. Laddering still feels boring as hell. Somehow Rank Floors have actually made it feel even more boring because now I start at like Rank 8/7 and I get to Rank 5 and there's no more desire to play anymore. Grinding to Legend is stupid and I've already done it once before, I'm not doing it again, there's no point.
They're still way too stingy with handouts/gimmes/freebies. New player experience is still total dogshit. Decks are still REALLY fucking expensive and it becomes harder and harder to keep up each expac unless you preorder/spend real money. And while I have no problem spending real money, I do have a problem with feeling like I need to. Like I have to. And I do feel like I have to, like I need to.
I also have a lot of grievances in regards to horrendous oppressively designed mechanics like the Recruit/Mana Cheating nonsense from KNC, or Jades from MSOG, etc etc etc. And then we have to wait, yknow, 2 whole fucking months before Blizzard even looks at the problems. 2 months. Having to play the game in that state for 2 whole fucking months is disgusting. And then, when they do finally bring out that balance patch, boy you better hope they nail it cause it's another 2 months before a new expac that HOPEFULLY changes things.
Like jesus, they have the unique opportunity to put out regular balance patches and they choose to do ONE every 2 months. And only nerfs! Never buffs! They are a DIGITAL card game, they can afford to make balance changes! Physical games can't! Once they're printed, they're printed. Y'ALL ARE DIGITAL. PLEASE. JESUS PLEASUS BLIZZ. Like I also play HotS, and they put out regular balance patches! On the fuckin' reg! And they always balance a new Hero 2 weeks after their release, and then subsequently with their regular balance patches. I can't imagine what would happen if they released a new OP Hero and were like "mmmyeahhhh catch y'all in 2 months, lol!" People would fucking RIOT. So I dunno how Team 5 gets away with it. Maybe people aren't raising enough of a stink about it, maybe they don't care, maybe Blizzard doesn't care.
But, well. That's all stuff that's been building up. The straw that broke the camel's back was me playing a string of games today and just, I wasn't having fun. It felt like I was just playing the same fucking decks I've been playing, both with and against, for the past two months. We're like, halfway through the first month and I'm already sick to my stomach of this meta, of this game.
Maybe I just need some time away from it. A nice break. Maybe next expac will be better.
But maybe not, and maybe I just need to finally say enough is enough and just break the fucking cycle and leave it all behind. These kinds of games are very difficult to walk away from because they bank on you having an attachment to your account that you've spent YEARS building up. And honestly that's why I hit the Uninstall button. I need to resist the temptation to play and just, see how it feels not playing for a change. Because I don't know if I'm just sick of this meta, or sick of the game, but. This will help me find out. Maybe the next expac rolls around and I just feel zero interest at that point. Maybe that'd be a good thing overall.
Anyway. It's been real, Hearthstone thread. Been through the good and the bad together. Had some good times. See y'all... maybe, maybe not.

anyone watching HTC buenos aires? this lii vs monsanto series is fucking hilarious
maly vs control lock, lii has the game won and then decides to throw by using the siphon soul he was saving specifically for malygos on a fucking scarab token or whatever
next game monsanto is facing a completed seal azari in lii's hand with a 4 other minions and nails the demonic project at a 20% chance
Well it plays the standard druid core of "all our fucking shit is busted" and then you add a twig, a malygos, a floop, and two moonfires. It's got a lot of flexibility though. You can add Alexstrasza to just nuke them for 15, you can run a Lich King to get value, you get to run Giggling Inventors and Spreading Plague and suddenly all those creatures you made can be given extra attack through Branching Paths
One of the things that make Druid decks so good is that you get to play this aggressive combo finisher, but you can also sometimes just fuckin' beat them down while managing the board.

the problem with druid is that you can go almost all the way through a druid's entire deck and have no idea what archetype they are until it's too late
my list is slightly nonstandard (cut a ferocious howl and lich king for double mctech)
floop is extremely powerful because of his versatility, he can be a third giggling inventor which is a backbreaker vs aggro, or a 0 mana 3/4 which can be some great tempo vs control if you decide to beatdown
Time for my brawliseum run. Guess I'll go heal zoo. Here come the hard counters!
Game 1: Beat a druid just before turn 10.
Game 2: Turn 1 loss to nut draw deathrattle hunter vs. my opening hand clogged with shit.
Thanks!
Game 3: Beat odd paladin.
Game 4: Beat odd paladin. Another clunky opener for me vs. a pretty big opener for him
. The Kobold->Imp was my turn 2 draw. But he was roping on a turn then made a really weird Void Ripper panic play that made his 4/7 mech into a 7/4 that I could kill.
Game 5: Beat odd rogue. It was a close one, but he took just enough face damage that I was able to close it out.
Game 6: Beat zoo warlock? He went Flame Imp->Librarian + Soul Infusion->Coin Hellfire(???) to clear my board->Chain Gang->Dreadlord->Infused Spellbreaker. I lethaled him next turn. Basically seemed like zoo + Hellfire. Weird.
Game 7: Beat spell hunter.
Game 8: Turn 1 loss to even warlock. Another clunko start for me. The ol' Double Dreadlord + Fungalmancer opener is pretty bad against turn 4/5 Mountain Giant.
Game 9: Beat odd paladin.
Game 10: Loss to deathrattle rogue with the nuts. Fire Fly->Shinyfinder->Necrium->Eggs. Turns out those Dreadlords the game loves to shovel into my hand are pretty bad against deathrattle rogue!
7-3. As usual my losses were total blowouts where I don't think I ever had a winning line of play. 150 gold, 20 dust, and got my first Astral Rift from the pack. Not enough Keleseth.
Bloodknight loves this meta. Stand in my way giggling inventor, do it.

I feel your annoyance keenly. Even if I'm a scrub-tier player in comparison, the game is just not that fun anymore. For me it's partly also the prevalence of very tedious Warlock and Druid that helps focus on what the source of my dislike is grows from.
Now, no matter how the meta is, the core annoyance outside of the non-support of Blizzard, is that it's just no actual fun to be had in constructing whacky decks. They will lose, and you will sub in the meta cards no matter what. Whenever I'm hitting the casual button, it's very rarely any non-meta cards. And let's not even get into non-meta decktypes! I've yet to see more than 60 % of the new cards from the last 2 sets. There's just a lack of game variety. Why WOULD you build a pogo-based deck for our favourite backstabbing class? It's a fun thought, but no Jade mechanic, really. And getting there is worse than another "fetch-the-knife"-deck...
I've followed Loading Ready Run for ages, and I've been fairly interested in the variety of game types for Magic they constantly bring to my attention. It just underlines the absolutely barren hellhole that is Hearthstone. It's narrow, it's focused on one singular gamestyle and that's it. The dungeon runs and fun brawls are way to far between, and let's not even mention the "PAY MONEY TO ENTER!" Brawls they've experimented with; "Yeah! YOU can be a star and win big, kid! Or pay us to go 0/3? That works for us!"
Uuuhh... No thanks, thats a bad idea, and I'm not touching it with a ten foot, ironshod pole!
And Brawls: Fudge... They are available only wednesday - sunday here in the EU. Still? Are you joking? Why the bleedin' hell, Blizzard?
I sat contemplating uninstalling yesterday as well. Maybe not right away, but I'm done paying for packs from Blizz. It's not worth it unless you invest whale-style. It's just too damn much dust to get a meta deck together, and it's very rarely possible to assemble half a deck and still play with it. Even if I've only bought like 2 7-pack deals total for the last 2 expansions, to supplement the regular gold-bought packs, it still feels so goddamn useless.
These are the stories of Dwarf Fortress. Legends have been forged there, and meticulousy gathered in one mighty hub: http://dfstories.com/start-here/
That's kind of the definitition of wacky decks though. If you find something that works and wins a lot instead of losing then it becomes meta and is no longer wacky.

That "fetch-the-knife" deck (I presume they mean Kingsbane by that) was considered a wacky deck for a few months before it got refined/the meta shifted towards it.
Dibby - if you're still reading the thread - I think a lot of people share your frustration/malaise/sentiment. You do you - there are certainly a ton of games out there to play right now, it's a veritable fuckacopia of creative content, and if you're not having fun playing HS then you should definitely step away, at least for a bit, and spend your fun-time doing something that you find fun.
I've been playing since closed beta (or was it alpha? Friend at Blizz gave me a key), and this game has followed me through graduations, moves, a wedding, multiple jobs, vacations, births, deaths, etc. It's insane how much a virtual card game can sorta serve as a staple in one's life. I've taken breaks, I've come back; I've gone through stretches where I'm playing for literally 3-5 hours per day and stretches where I don't play for weeks at a time; I've streamed; I've played in online and IRL tournaments - HS has so consistently been a part of my life over the past 5+ years that it's hard to imagine not having it within arm's reach at all times, ready to be played. It's hilarious to think about my first exposure to it at Pax East, where I told my buddy that it looked like a cute little diversion but that I wasn't really into or excited about it. I should have known better. I grew up on CCGs.
All of that being said, achieving Legend a couple of months ago has made things feel a little different. I feel less compelled to play, and I definitely don't feel like trying to grind past Rank 5 anytime soon (or ever again, unless there's some new reward). I just don't feel like doing it. And I'm wondering if once I get all Golden heroes, I'll completely lose the desire to play regularly. I don't know! I'm a big progression-system guy, to a fault, meaning that I literally have not queued up a Mage, Warrior, Druid, or Priest deck since I hit 500 with those classes. That means that I haven't built a Mage deck in... two years? Even though I love that class? It's like I'm playing a version of the game that keeps narrowing in scope.
Personal issues aside, HS is one of my top 5 favorite games of all time, and I'm ever-grateful for the hours and days and months and years of content that Blizz has provided. I've certainly paid a lot for all of it, but I've also gotten my money's worth, and now I'm in a cycle of "don't spend any money between expansions and then spend all of your gold at launch," which is nice (I still spend $$$, too, because I'm dumb).
What does the future hold? I don't know. The meta is a little stale right now, it's true; but we also have Whizbang and Mecha'thun and all kinds of weird new shit. Just yesterday, I netdecked Thijs's DK Uther OTK deck and pulled off the OTK one turn before the Shudderwock Shaman I was facing could drop his game-ending combo. That felt good. It's not Boomsday-dependent or particularly new on either side, but... it was fun.
I don't imagine that I'll be able to put HS aside for good anytime soon, though I'd love to stop spending money on it, and though I may be less compelled to play as soon as I grind out the rest of these wins. My PS4 and Switch backlogs are ridiculous right now, but... when I get home from work and I need to relax and fire up something a little mindless, there's always HS. And that's okay. I'm imagining that if I'm lucky enough to have kids within a few years, I'll still be playing then. Maybe I'll be playing something else. And that's okay, too.

Oh god I just got the absolute nut draw with mech paladin
Turn 1: Righteous Protector
Turn 2: Galvanizer, discounted Mecharoo
Turn 3: discounted Annoy-o-Tron onto the Mecharoo
Turn 4: discounted Zilliax onto the Galvanizer
Turn 5: discounted Wargear on the Galvanizer+Zilliax
Turn 6: Upgradeable Framebot + Annoy-o-Tron
Throughout all of this my opponent, a deathrattle hunter is trading everything into them, and getting decent draws themselves. Plays DK Rexxar on T6 and appears to take board control
But why?
"Heart" is no problem but stick a "h" to the end and all of a sudden we're moving to a diffrent consonent.
Because it's a word that's very uncommonly used today, so we assume that it's Ye Olde English, and when that happens, you might as well assume the rules are incorrect, and that the reverse of what you know about phonetics is true.

Went 2-3 with Mecha'thun Priest. Saw Odd Rogue, Warlock and one poor Hunter (think he was Whizzbang).
On my alt I ran Whizzbang and went 2-3. Think I ran against other Whizzbang decks since they all seemed to be similar weirdness.

Well yeah, stats show that on Monday and Tuesday that nobody plays Brawl, so why have it available?
Blizzard Logic.
That "fetch-the-knife" deck (I presume they mean Kingsbane by that) was considered a wacky deck for a few months before it got refined/the meta shifted towards it.
It's a large fireplace, and the word is derived from the dutch/german word "haard".
The friggin innkeeper even tells you to "warm yourself by the hearth ( you can clearly hear him pronounce it as "harth".
2. Why does this bother me so much?
Because a lot of people (mis)-pronounce "hearth" as "hurth" to begin with.
