For it to be a security system to detect movement, you’d have to have a set of mirrors on the other side also moving with the lasers movement. And/or some heavy duty computation going on in real time to prevent false positives. Just having a laser shooting out doesn’t do any good unless you are measuring the return beam and any changes to that return.

Sometimes this feature gets depicted but in a hilarious way where they place mirrors in front of the lasers to “trick” it into not seeing the movement happening. Well, Dick Tracy, putting those mirrors down just tripped the alarm in a real world situation.

Hollywood is always 100% accurate with how lasers work, in all cases.

Saw the trailer for "The Rhythm Section" starring Blake Lively and Jude Law. My main takeaway was: I like the song in this ("In the Pines" cover by Sleigh Bells) and while I momentarily think this could actually be good, if it had a good script, they probably would have got an actress with a bigger draw than Blake Lively. :c

FWIW I'd watch anything with Blake Lively in it. So cool...

also that's a great trailer song

So I'm going with... not terrible? Possibly even good, considering that Margot Robbie seems to be up front and center with regards to the story/narrative? Also, Ewan McGregor as the villain.

I think the worst part about the failure of the Justice League movie (and DC shared universe in general) is that there is almost no chance of a Brave and the Bold style Birds of Prey musical number in this movie.

And, because I will never not take the opportunity to post this:

I don't even know how the DC EU is functioning logistically. BOP's Harley is based off of the SS Jared Leto Joker, and now you've got Joaquin playing his intro story in a completely different film...

6 Underground actually looks really good, that magnet scene is what sold me. Although I do wonder if Netflix actually gave Bay a legit budget or we're going to see a bunch of fake cheap padding in warehouses and whatnot. It's a weird world where I trust Bay over Netflix these days.

My understanding is that they've thrown out the idea of a tightly interconnected universe and now they're just making movies which may or may not reference or tie in to one another.

Frankly I think it's the best idea they've had in a while.

Which, ironically, was also what helped make DC stand out back in the 90s/00s. The Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, Elseworlds, and a ton of other DC titles that still are influencing the brand were all disconnected properties given over to talented creators.

Yeah, but they won't be able to bust out the rapid fire double entendre regarding the various endowments and prowess of the Justice League members if the Justice League doesn't exist.

There's something about Birds of Prey that even more so than other DC films is just... I don't know.. I like them a lot when they're in cartoons and comics, but once they get all gritty and psycho-y and mean, I just don't wanna see it anymore.

New Michael Bay movie with Ryan Reynolds - looks like Bay got jealous of the Fast and Furious franchise.

I'm usually down for any movie with Ryan Reynolds but it is being directed by Bay. I already see he's turned oversaturation up to 11/10 in the trailer. I'm not sure if I can put up with that.

    It looks good though!

Ritchie has a spotty history, even before UNCLE/King Arthur/Aladdin, Revolver is one of the worst movies I've seen and as terrible as Lock Stock is great, but Rocknrolla was legit very good and better than Snatch IMO. If this could at least be at Snatch levels (a 7/10), I'd be happy. I'm calling it now that Charlie Hunham is the one who is orchestrating the gang war but let's hope that's not the twist.

Now, if this was Matty Vaughn, it would have easily been 10/10 makin' it rain.
