Genji is weird in that he thrives in either really coordinated or really uncoordinated environments. They've nerfed him enough that unless you have a massive micro skill advantage you can no longer trade as safely into other heroes. So a lot of his value is tied up in threatening low-HP heroes or following up on tank engage targets.
Like, if you take Genji into a game without wide skill differentials, outside of Masters/GM I'm fairly convinced that you would see more value from just taking raw assassin DPS instead.
Sure, he's extremely frustrating to play against because if you're an assassin, there isn't a ton you can do to alter the matchup. It's mostly on your tanks and supports to save you, and if they do it wrong you die. Which also sucks for the tanks and supports because he puts a lot of mental pressure on them to land abilities on a tiny extremely fast moving hitbox and if they don't, their assassin dies. and if he ganks the offlane properly can basically make it impossible for heroes not named yrel, blaze, or leoric to survive.
he's obviously harder to play which drags his winrate down and most people would be better with generic carry #4, but I understand the ban, especially if you're operating with a non-standard solo laner.

If you are just trying to finish up quests there is always one of the draft modes (which count as quest progression to all quests even if not playing the thing there quest said) or vs. AI which is so simple you can (and should) win with a character you never touched.

As I have learned the hard way with the randomness of the brawl how some play
Just had a crazy comeback game on ToD (playing HL). We were losing early, and finally started making a comeback around 14ish core health. We take a lead shortly after but end up losing it. It comes down to 8-5 core health, we're down. Forts are even (3-3) and both top shrines come up. We end up wiping all of them, and take both shrines, but right before the last shrine finishes we lost our bottom fort to minions (and I think some mercs we didn't get a chance to clear). So now it's 5-1 and pretty much all the mercs are cleared already. We take their top and our bottom, giving us a fort lead. As the next shrine (single mid) is about to start the boss is popping up just a few seconds or so before it. We end up dropping three of them out in the open near boss and take it just after they take the shrine which hits us first, but luckily they only had their top fort back for 4 damage, dropping us to 1 and they lose to boss. Was so close, haha. Also we had a 12 death tracer which was almost more deaths than the rest of the team combined. So yeah, silver gonna silver, but at least I won!
and now I get to see if I can win a promotion game after that. Side note, this is the first time I've played enough HL to actually deal with a promotion (or demotion) game.

muradin, varian, garrosh, sonya (YEAH YEAH i know she's the D3 barb but she's basically a WoW Warrior in the same way that johanna is basically a WoW Paladin)
we've only got one death knight, and arthas is basically just a frost dk. deathbringer saurfang would be cool cause he'd be a full on blood dk
The update I know everyone was waiting for. First promotion match, was a success! Steamrolled over them basically. Sadly I'm still only silver 4 now instead of 5, haha.

The Saurfang that is getting all the press right now is the real Saurfang. This is the Saurfang that (used to) stand at the gates of Orgrimmar and murder Alliance as they tried to come into the city. This is the badass Saurfang that has endured from the beginning. He has always been a side character for most of the game, but after 14 years, he's finally entering the main stage as a major player. A lot of people think Blizzard is positioning him to become the new Warchief of the Horde, and return Horde leadership to the Orcs -- which is how it should be.
The other Saurfang is commonly referred to as Saurfang the Lesser, and he is the one who was turned into a Death Knight during the Icecrown expansion. And since he's the son of a side character, that basically makes Saurfang the Lesser a nobody. He was a raid boss and had 2 seconds of fame and now he's nothing.
Saurfang Jr was introduced in a side quest in Nagrand in TBC.

the only reason i care about saurfang was because he would just ww spam anyone who tried to invade org and would kill the fuck out of them and it was really funny.
