Leviathan has good weapons only in comparison to other Destiny 2 weapons.

Sins of the Past is a strictly worse weapon than D1's Elulim's Frenzy, and that's on nobody's list of favorite raid guns.

That's a bad comparison because in general, d2 rockets got nerfed into the dam ground compared to d1. No multi shots/tripod before reloading, no surplus, no tracking beyond 1 archtype, no proxy dets, no truth, no gally. I never would taken off Hezen Vengeance till I got one of the exotics rockets in d1 if it had auto loader.

I want The Taikonaut Titan helmet back. Tracking on any rocket would be VERY GOOD in D2, since basically none of them have it now.

You remember that hilarious bug where Taikonaut actually *toggled* Tracking instead of simply enabling it? So if your launcher already had tracking before WHOOPS NOW IT DOESN'T

I hadn't tried the no-matchmaking matchmaking until today.

    Man, that's some shit.

I understand why people who are good at PvP are having a blast with it and why people who aren't aren't. I'm pretty middle-of-the-road. I don't absolutely suck but I'm by no means 'good'. I think my lifetime KDA is like 1.25 and, with the current lack of matchmaking, I continued to rock around 1.25 every match. So I guess you could say my experience was okay.

    Except.

Every single match there'd be one side where a couple of players were dramatically, obviously much better and that team would win every time. Like there'd be two guys with 5-7 KDA for the match on one team. Sometimes there'd be one guy on the other team in that range, or even a couple in the 2-3's. Everyone else would be well below 2.0. So every single match was a blowout 150+ vs <60 and that is just not fun to me at all. I much more enjoy the usual quickplay where if I'm on my game I can feel like I'm good at PvP for a couple matches, or if one is going poorly there's a chance we can turn it around. Seeing how a match is going to go in the first 10 seconds and then just watching it play out that way over the next few minutes is boring and frustrating, even when I'm on the winning side half the time.

I never knew that was a thing because obviously if your rocket has tracking you can pack Armamentarium or something instead. But that is hilarious and sounds like a very Bungie thing to do.

Omolon adaptive with headseeker, adaptive auto with zen moment, I think the highest range lightweight handcannon, an adaptive SMG with good recoil direction and kill clip. You also get a cool short questline from them. In more taste-based picks I also like the lightweight pulse with firefly, the precision hand cannon with autoloader (particularly what with the poor reload speeds of that archetype, and the high-impact scout with outlaw.

Yeah, I like some of them. The Conqueror 2 is a fucking beast in PvE if you are on PC where SMGs are usable. Garden Progeny 1 is a nice high impact scout imo.

There are some shit ones, some decent ones and some quite good ones but I wouldn't call any of them best in slot or anything.

No doubt. But playing with a stupid analogy aside, the fundamental point you raise, their ubiquity, tells us nothing about their value or whether they are worthwhile. So yes, let’s grant that having opinions is normal, so what?

I contend, as ever, that opinions without expertise and data are harmful to the discourse and our own states of mind and should be eschewed.

Meh some people like talking about stuff. Not everybody needs a deep knowledge of critical thinking to talk about their shooting man game. Life is pointless, we'll all die alone, let us talk about stuff we like because ultimately nothing matters. Holding an internet forum to the standard of Senate hearings seems like you're taking it too seriously, stakes are pretty low. So popular person you've never met said some things you disagree with? Opinion without expertise and/or data is too prone to cognitive illusion, confirmation bias and just plain ignorance of relevant factors. The snowball effect of spleen venting is bad for both groups and individuals as various social models and data shows as it quickly amplifies things into extremes. tripleWreck’s opinions are not backed by expertise, skill in the playing of a game affords no expertise in the design of a game.

The only opinion that matters is people's opinion on Wormhusk Crown.
And the only opinion on Wormhusk is that it is garbo-broken and I can't wait until it gets nerfed.

I say this as someone who rolled a hunter through the campaign just so I could get a Wormhusk to succeed more frequently in Competitive. That shit has got to to go. And I'm 100% certain that data supports this hypothesis, or whatever.

Don’t be silly, we can have whatever opinion we like. We ought merely treat them, both those we hold and those others hold with appropriate concern i.e. little. Opinions, uninformed and subject to the aforesaid cognitive biases are little more than “I do/n’t like thing” and should be treated as such, with the knowledge that any preference is but one amongst multitudes.

But if you have an argument for the value of unsubstantiated declarations about what makes for a good game or why we should care one whit as to the contents of tripleWreck’s opinions then I am eager to hear them.

I want to move back to doing competitive at some point, but doing trials during the weekend seems like a lot more fun. We win more games, and I get a lot of loot I don't have out of it, because except for 1 gun I've had 0 trials gear. I don't know if there's enough time in the season for me to hit rank 15 to get the scout, but it seems doable.

Yes. All our opinions are worthless garbage. As I say, have whatever opinions you want but best in mind the relative value and reliability of your own perspective. But I certainly wonder at why anyone’s reaction to someone so clearly misinformed and poorly reasoned as tripleWreck would be anything but “you shouldn’t say silly things,l tripleWreck and you should act like these things are self evident”.

You can substitute totes garbo or another more playful version of “worthless garbage” if that would communicate a more accurate impression of my state of mind - spleen venting I am not.

Traveler's Judgement is a best in class burst sidearm, it having headseeker means that you can hit the optimal TTK way easier than any of the other ones. That's based on data, by the by, it is not an opinion. It's the best Prophecy weapon by a country mile, and that is an opinion.
