Also uh, does anyone play duos locally with an SO? Let's pretend I have 2 consoles, two TVs, one internet router, and one copy of the game digitally. Do I buy a 2nd copy for the 2nd person? Do they just piggyback off my gamertag? Is there such a thing as two separate guardians on one console acct?
At one point, this was true generally but I'm unsure if it still is. Weirdly it was basically the same on Xbox and PS.
When you digitally "buy" a game it will be linked to your gamertag and to the console it is purchased on. 99% of the time this is irrelevant but in situations like yours it means you could go to your SO's console, put your gamertag on it, buy the digital game, then use your gamertag on the other console and play there.
SO's console: Anybody can play the game.
Your console: Have to be logged into your account to play the game.
This is all very YMMV as I haven't screwed around with it in quite some time. I believe it was true at least at the beginning of this generation, not sure if it has changed.
Edit: Oh, Live/PSN worked basically the same way. You'll definitely need different gamertags though. On PS side if the "owner" account on a console has PS+ all the other accounts there do as well.
Yeah, it's just like, will the two consoles be able to play Destiny together in the same fireteam, for example?
If my account has XBL Gold, and hers doesn't, but it's "tied" to my Gold, will it allow us both to play together?
My fear is that I get two Gold subs, two copies of the game and we still cant play together because XBL doesnt let two accounts from same IP play simultaneously.
To clarify, are there guns/gear from Osiris/Warmind that are must haves, or do I not need them and I just buy Forsaken and I'm up to date?
I do this on PS4 and I think Xbox has parity here.
Last generation a digital copy was linked to your account (play on any console where you are logged in AND connected to the internet to check permissions) and to the console it was purchased on (play on any account, online or off).
It's the same this generation except you don't need to worry about what console you buy the game on, this can be moved about (with some limitations) as need be. On PS4 this is your 'primary console' and I believe Xbox has a 'home console' equivalent.
Do a bit of googling on any limitations on how often you can change your 'home console' but assuming no problems you make your partners console your account's (the one owning destiny and with Gold) 'home console' and any account on that console can now play your purchases. The caveat is you can now only play your content on your own, non-home, console when logged in and online. On PS4 you share the PS+ permissions for online play this way too, I am assuming it's the same for Xbox but I'd Google to check that (or just try it out). Shouldn't be any problems playing the same game together.

I really don't like the D2 IB armor. I'm glad it exists and gives people a different style if they want, but I prefer armor that you wouldn't confuse with something from Dark Souls

I do like when they blur the lines of fantasy and sci-fi but when they lean one way or another I don't always hate it. Like the Warmind stuff is all fairly tech looking but IB is more traditional armor and fur.
I like stuff like the Trials of Osiris gear too because it looks old and new all at the same time
I feel like after the first few iron banner sets they basically gave up on the sci fi part and I’m not down with that. The early ones were way more interesting
I need lots of unnecessary straps and also glowy bits, aside from that I'm flexible.
Also that Playstation armor is hilariously criminally bad, which means that as soon as it's available to Xbox players I'm going to get a god roll helmet and be forced to wear it. Enjoy your year of looking awful PS4 friends.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

OK, the following isn't a spoiler; it's a portion of text taken from the new lore, and I paste it here just because it's such a great line. Once again, zero spoilers--simply a line of text, devoid of context, that has no identifiable information that could possibly ruin anything. And I'm putting it behind a spoiler just in case.

Hold up you need all y1 dlc to play forsaken? That’s hot garbage. And this is coming from someone who is normally a big Bungie defender
Yep. The same was true of TTK.
It makes sense from a compatibility matrix standpoint, and from the PoV of wanting to maybe use Mars and Mercury in the Forsaken (and post-Forsaken) story content, but considering they're currently giving away the base game for free I'm not sure why they didn't just include the Y1 DLC with your Forsaken purchase. Or drop CoO to like $5 or something.

I don't think that Destiny 2 (or Destiny 1) could ever be a games with gold title given the promotional favored status.

That exclusive armor is hilariously bad, the titan armor looks like a shitty robot made in the 1950s. I'd like to believe it looks spitefully bad because they want out of the exclusive clause.
Didn't buy Forsaken and probably won't at this point. Hope they really turn it around and you all have a great time in game.

I opted to refund my Forsaken preorder last week so I can give this expansion a month or two and see how it shakes out for people. Then if it turns out to be great I'll wait for a sale.

If you need both Osiris and Warmind then they're not actually on sale. They have 50% discounts on the separate items but added together they equal the season pass, which has been at this price for 2-3 months.

Tomorrow at 1 PM Pacific there will be a Gambit stream featuring a couple celebs and streamers. Also, there's all the info for Bungie at PAX Est (including an i n c r e d i b l e Zavala shirt
Retroactive punishments for players who abused networking exploits software to gain an advantage in Crucible in Season 3 starting September 4th, in addition to stricter and better detection methods going forwards. Punishments include restrictions on Crucible access up to total bans, which means they cannot access things like Redrix or other pinnacle rewards.

FYI to the PS4 crew, I'm thinking I'll set up a Pax Arcadia PS4 Party through the PS4 Community (which I think defaults to the bottom-most entry in the party list?) for Saturday's 24-hour Gambit trial shenanigans, so that people can hop in and out, find a group/waitlist to play with other PA folks, etc. I plan on playing a bunch and think we lapsed D2 players probably need some centralized help to find a fireteam (I know I do).
I was thinking of making this into a big flashy post with a banner and everything, but work is kicking my ass this week. Yet another reason to set aside hours on Saturday to stomp faces.
So that's the plan. I may even set it up tonight? I don't know. I know you guys are more than capable of setting up your own parties, but especially for newer or lapsed people, it might help to have a sanctioned "come here for a group" space on the PS Parties list.
I'm confused about what expansions I need to buy to get current in D2. I really haven't been keeping up with the game. I see two expansions on the PSN store: Curse of Osiris and Warmind, for a total of $20. Is that all there are? For some reason I thought there were three expansions? Am I misinformed or crazy or just plain Stupid?
Misinformed. Just the two DLC’s so far! But there is a pack that includes those two DLC’s and Forsaken, I believe (looks like the Legendary Collection includes D2, DLC 1/2, and Forsaken).
Wait a sec... I paid $40 for Forsaken. Now I’m seeing in the PS store that the digital deluxe version costs that much, and that the version with the seasonal content pass is $30? These have to be prices adjusted for my owning Forsaken, right?
Never mind. Confirmed prices are adjusted for ownership.

On the webstore there's also a few flavors of Forsaken. The stand-alone one marked as unavailable, which I assume is because we are missing the pre-reqs of Osiris and Warmind. Then there's a couple of all-in bundles that also include the base game.
The standalone one is unavailable because Microsoft's storefront is stupid and bad. For some reason bundled items sometimes get marked as unavailable as a solo expansion. I assume it'll be fixed but for now if you need just Forsaken you have to search Xbox.com or the app.
Hmm... okay. Can I just skip the first two expansions and buy Forsaken without them? Is that a "bad" idea?
Edit: google research says No. I'm not sure I want to spend that much on something that I may not keep playing. We'll see how I feel after this weekend.

I like the symmetry of the hunter armor. I don't understand why it has pointy toes, especially given the circles... other than it's a recolor.
