waiting for an announcement of some kind. According to the G+T xcom thread they are shuffling things around on steam in the way they usually do before they announce a new game

I would definitely like to see more X-COM, that's good to hear.

So I made ice cream again, this time going with strawberry

I used a similar custard base as to before, though next time I almost want to go a little richer, maybe a couple extra egg yolks

1/2 cup sugar (this time half brown, half white)
    4 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups each whole milk and heavy cream (35% / whipping)

I used a pound of strawberries with a tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/4 cup sugar, all mixed together and left to chill overnight

Macerating strawberries in a little sugar and lemon juice...

Stirring custard over medium-low heat (video)

    Straining custard for solids
    https://i.imgur.com/m9YRiL1l.jpg

After this point I chilled the custard and strawberries overnight, blended the strawberries, mixed everything together, prepped the ice cream maker, and forgot to take pictures of any of this, then ran the machine 35 minutes

    Lifting the dasher out (video)

    And here's the finished product!
    https://i.imgur.com/JENjxEpl.jpg

Have you tried it with balsamic vinager?

A local place makes balsamic strawberry ice cream and it is wonderfully tangy.

I haven't! There's a place south of me though that I hear does amazing weird flavours, stuff like basil included

I might try it at some point but this is my third time making ice cream and first time with the machine, so there's plenty of stuff to get acquainted with yet

My next thought is how to make this work:

One of my coworkers makes ice cream as one of his main hobbies. During the last work event, he made green curry ice cream.

It was the most popular thing.

I've been eating habanero-infused ice cream. It is good.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

@Evil Multifarious have you heard anything about Phantom Doctrine? It's an XCOMmy type thing themed around Cold War espionage, which perked my ears up.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEalw7EAzwk

It's an indie so kind of rough around the edges (the voice in this trailer does it no favors) and the developers made Hard West, which had a lot of interesting ideas but was ultimately disappointing.

BUT i'm curious enough about the setting and gameplay shown here that I'm at least going to keep an eye on this

That mission was pretty easy. One wounded person. "Operation Death God" was a bit overstated I guess.

I want another Silent Storm game, those were really cool, if also terribly janky.

New plan, since the special Templar/reaper/skirmisher troops don't draw names from the pool, they get named after mods.

Current Forumers and named troops in my roster:
    Soit "Meltdown" Goes
    Mike 'Gunner' Myers
    Waffles 'Cyber' Magee
    Emilia 'Khaleesi' Clark
    Bloody 'Rocky' Roar
    Eddy 'Eddy' Eddy
    Patrick 'Picard' Stewart
    Jungle 'Barbarian' Roomx
    Jacobkosh: Reaper
    Echo: Skirmisher
Skipford (not of these forums): Templar

I've also got Luke Skywalker, Molly Carpenter, Kool Eagle, Vinny Caravella, Jeff Gerstmann, and some rookies that haven't earned a name yet. My own soldier hasn't showed up in the recruitment pool but also we have only lost like 3-4 soldiers so far.

Yes, I know, my naming scheme is very inconsistent right now. I'm adding people at random but if you wanna be in the pool and get updates if you do something particularly cool or dumb, let me know.

Geez Jeff Kaplan called into the Polygon Show, and he said that the current Overwatch team is 120 people, and it was only 70 at launch. I never would've thought a game that deep into it's life would have that big a team behind it.

What Coh play with the twitch integration today. You can have twitch chat folks be your healer. They can control bosses. And mess with levels. And when you get a sub fireworks go off in games.
