A stranger and I found something in Tiragarde Sound. I'll mark it as a spoiler.
There was a chest up on a hill overlooking one of the initial quest-branch points. But next to it was an orc and a wyvern. The wyvern was red and boss level. It had... no animations beyond standing. So we fought it, it was basically a boss battle (and my earth elemental had to tank it, with me and the stranger provide not-spec heals), we killed it. No loot table. But then a few minutes later I noticed I suddenly had my first 10 points of War Resources.
Rare elite? I've found rare elites all over. One pretty much as soon as I landed as Horde on my mini-map, even.

I'm gonna echo Dhal's comment from some pages ago and say man they did a good job on the cities this go around. Dazar'alor feels like a proper large city.
The cities feel awesome, but they also show a big problem with realistic big cities in wow. They're too big, and either everything is so spread out it annoys you, or everything is so close together you never see more than a small section of it.

Hmm, now I'm stuck pacified. There appears to be a known issue where you can get pacified during a different quest so this is slightly different but I'm trying all the steps anyway. Otherwise the launch for me has been fairly smooth. A couple disconnects but that was it.
Of course I haven't been able to actually play for the last 45 minutes or so, but maybe this will fix that.
Edit: Nope. Ugh, well this sucks, there goes my night.

So heads up, there's a quest in Stormsong with a special bridge (you'll know it when you see it). If you go on the bridge it pacifies you, but jumping off of it doesn't remove the effect so you end up in this state. After trying a ton of things I found some posts that queuing for an arena match fixes it and it worked for me. I have no idea if any other type of instance will work but at least there's a workaround.

Ok this witch trial alliance side is really frustrating.
I haven't felt the lack of player agency this keenly in a long time. I'm a warlock trotting around with a pack of demons and they're all arguing about some noble's daughter.
Player agency, ha. I was able to play a little this morning, the first quest ends with Magni saying the whole planet is in danger, war isnt important, you must rally your forces. I fly back Org and mutely accept a mission go attack Stormwind. #thisisfine.jpg.
I have to say, I am loving the Tortolla. A bunch of grumpy old turtle people who come from the old school method of casting spells with scrolls? I love them.
I've had a little bit to play tonight, and although I should be joining the northern campaign against the blood trolls, I'm finding myself completely happy exploring a beach in the starter area. Those turtle people are very engaging, as Muzz said. And could you resist this little guy?
For the first time ever, I am not hardcoring it, so I just got to 113 last night. I enjoyed the start of the Horde. Rokhan is the man. Zul was making me laugh my ass off during the escape from Stormwind section as he casually..
just sets the entire city on fire.
..so it was good stuff so far. I also had MoP flashbacks a bit with some of the enemies, so that was fine.
We'll see what happens next, but so far so good. I told myself I wouldn't get addicted and want to raid, but.....already feeling that bit of me start to weaken.

I kinda felt that way...but the first raid sets look abysmal. In my view anyway so I don't feel I need to rush to grind the raids.
As long as I can play through them once or twice to see them, that's fine.

Played for a bit, taking my time. Saw some of the areas in southern Tiragarde sound. Explored the harbor district a bit.
Kul Tiras feels really, really big. Like most of the Broken Isles big.

I cant wait to play when it launches later this week!
Also, thread titles are hard.
Chief Wiggum: "Ladies, please. All our founding fathers, astronauts, and World Series heroes have been either drunk or on cocaine."
A bit late to ask this, but does the current iteration of the Blight not raise people on its own?
During the Lordaeron scenario, it looks like it's basically just acid and Sylvanas did the raising herself.
edit: Looking over the history of the Forsaken plague on wiki, it's never been able to raise the dead. It occasionally turns someone into a ghoul for a few seconds or transforms them into weird living goo, but it's not a tool for creating undead.
Black character screen for me as well. Thank goodness there aren't realm first levelling achievements, etc, any more. :P I think I may find something else to do this evening and give it a look tomorrow morning instead.
Wasn't able to get in last night. Tried a few times over the course of the night, no go. I ended up going to bed early and getting up to play a bit this morning before work. I was able to get to 112 (barely) in a few hours. (Enjoyed it for the most part, although I felt the same disconnect some other folks have mentioned between the "oh no, the world is going to end, focus on that" and "We're going to attack the alliance!") Hopefully this is fixed for tonight, although we'll see. I suspect some of it was just traffic, and 5am EDT is probably lower traffic than 6-7pm EDT.

Yeah, the blight is a chemical weapon that melts all living things down into corrupt goo.
It's more like how mustard gas is usually shown in superhero movies.

Yeah, I knew it couldn't possibly make true undead, since that's a whole big plot thing. But at some point I got it in my head that it had made mindless undead from time to time by itself.
edit: Now I'm wondering if they ever rolled back from the version that kills undead too, since that was a big breakthrough back when the Scourge was a major consideration. If 'bomb everything and live in the radioactive plagued ashes' isn't part of the modern Blight usage, it's barely worse than anything casters do.
Got to 112 last night random selecting Drustvar (which sounds like it accidentally was the right choice). Very much digging it again. They did a hell of a job with the sharding. There's been just enough people around me for it to feel busy and have help with mobs but not enough that I feel crowded or in competition for spawns.
My windwalker feels fairly sturdy in mediocre gear (I didn't come in with any antorus stuff), and I like that I'm fighting chunks of mobs here and there by design instead of just killing 1 human, 1 boar, 1 human, 1 boar, etc...
I keep getting distracted by herbs, though. They are friggin' everywhere!
At some point I want to actually play a horde character for a while, what server are the PA horde people on? Something about Shambler Milk? Allllll my guys are on Dark Iron and it's a bit crowded.
Oh huh you guys have a lot of tentacles in your art here and what's that? You're listening to the whispers in the waves? Oh yeah, N'Zoth is totally gonna show up.
Now I'm wondering if that "her heart is a crater and we have filled it" refers to Jaina's mom.

Got to 111. Stopped questing for a bit to run around with @cptrugged getting him caught up to me. Got my artifact to level 2 and my second piece of azerite gear. A plate chest plate that shows my orc's chest. Its wonderful.
Loving the the Troll stuff. The aesthetic is great. Love the dinos. God I want to play one so badly.

edit: Nevermind, I misread. It's part of a raid achievement.
I boosted a horde monk to 110, but I've not gotten the embassy quest yet, do I just need to head back to Orgrimmar for it to trigger?
And to echo the statements bout Drustvar, it's got a pretty amazing aesthic and great ambient music.

Really digging the troll zone, looks great and ambient noises are pretty cool IMO. Wonder why some stand up straight and some don't?
