I refined my anti-kushala build (Nergi IG) and also managed a sub 8 minute kill on a tempered one. He really is a pushover if you bring in the correct set, specially at the end where his stagger limits just seem to get lower and lower, no flashbombs needed, he just keeps falling down over and over again.
Okay, my question was too general and stupid. Let me rephrase it. What is a quick way to get something better than a deviant weapon?
Also, is there a new charm farming method?
Honestly, a top Deviant weapon will probably hold you over until Lao Shan Lung (the G2 Urgent), and then you can build a Lao weapon. I THINK that you can build an Elder weapon right off the bat in G-rank if you just want higher raw (they start at 260, with White sharpness) using readily-available G-rank materials (Eltalite Ore x4, Emperor Hopper x2, Bherna Ticket x1, Wycademy Ticket x1). The latter two are purchasable from Neko Means "Cat" in the Palico Ranch, but you should have a small stockpile of them by now.
EDIT: Looks like Lao-Shan Lung weapons are really only good for Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, and HBG. The SA and GS are okay, but not outstanding (but still better than High Rank stuff). The Bow is mediocre, both in terms of Raw and in terms of shot types. If you want a better Bow, the Nerscylla bow is RIGHT THERE. Scylla Weave Lv 1 is 300 Raw and Rapid 4/5 for charge 2/3 and lots of Affinity. It's really hard to beat.
I've just been running Ahtal-Ka (G4 urgent) repeatedly for Charms. Every single mining point on it has a high chance of giving Enduring or Timeworn charms, and the shinies also give charms. I'm farming up a full maxed out set of both Blademaster and Gunner, which requires 10 of its Alluring Gems (Mantle Equivalent), so I'm doing a lot of Ahtal-Ka anyway. Earlier than G4, I think your best bet is bringing a Farcaster to a Harvest tour and simply mining out a bunch of points in the Volcano or something. Gathering Kitty with Far-cat-ster is also an option (should have enough meter at the end of the run to cast it, or also run with Forbidden Acorn).
I dunno, does someone else have better ideas?
Later on, we'll have a Coal Farming DLC that also has a Kill Brachydios subquest that gives something like 30 charms for killing Brachydios. It is literally called "URGENT: COAL MINERS NEEDED". Probably Capcom throwing shade at Sakura farming.

Two things in my Adventures in Prowler land:
1) Apparently, pressing X after throwing a Boomerang does an attack that does mounting damage. Was this always true? I don't remember this at all.
2) I'm really glad I stuck it out with a Fighting cat. When I'm in Fury mode, the first evade you make is an aerial evade and it does the awesome melee spin attack that usually comes at the end of the melee combo AND it does mounting damage. I become a buzzsaw of death. Evade-Leap onto a monster, buzz, land, evade-cancel the recovery, repeat. Sometimes, I get two mounts in a row while in one Fury mode binge. The best part is that I can go into Fury mode at any time with Furry-ous for 4 meter, and the buzzsaw attacks build up SO much meter.
Then again, it appears that a Piercing Boomerang + Big Boomerang melee attack (A after throwing two boomerangs in a row) does 62 Motion Value (!), which can be slightly more than the buzzsaw (12 per hit)... Decisions decisions...
EDIT: Also, ever since I taught Far-cat-ster to my main Prowler, I've become a LOT more brave in G-rank quests. Since I know I can always burn 3 meter to peace-out when I run out of acorns to sleep, it means I'll essentially never cart ever again. It's freeing.
If another slot opens up, I'm going to teach my main Bounce Bombs so I can finally hit things above me.

Oh dang, I don't remember exactly I'll have to post it later tonight when I'm home, but it's something like:
Earplugs 4
Handicraft 2
Kushala set bonus windproof
Mind's Eye jewel (To avoid accidental bounces off of wings)
Power prolonger 1 (For Kinsect buff)
Weakness Exploit 3
If I remember correctly this is the set:
Lunastra Helm B
Kushala Chest B
Kushala Arms B
Drachen Waist (Can switch to Odogaron)
Kushala Greaves B
Earplugs Charm
Nergi Insect Glaive w/affinity augment
It definitely relies on some rare jewels (Mind's eye) but they aren't the core aspect of the set.
CB can also take Kushala down quick if you can hit his head with a charged sword and connect your elemental discharges when he's flashed.
Dragonking Eyepatch
Kushala Chest A
Kushala Grip B
Kushala Waist B
Dodogama Legs B
Can wear any charm and slot whatever as charged sword has Mind's Eye. Went with Tenderizer, Elementless, Artillery x2 and Ironwall with a Handicraft charm, though Earplugs might have been nice.
Okay, so I've almost got this Rathian's tail off, and I... what the hell, who invited this Barroth, go find someone else to OH MY GOD BASILGOOSE NOBODY LIKES YOU GO AWAY
FYI, if you haven't had your Switch long (I've only had mine for 2 weeks), pressing the image capture button on the left joycon takes a picture, but holding it takes a video of the last 13 or so seconds. I pressed it instead of held it after I took a Rathian's tail off from a mid-air slash, so I just have a screenshot of the aftermath instead of video proof of my completely on purpose accomplishment.
If another slot opens up, I'm going to teach my main Bounce Bombs so I can finally hit things above me.
I just recently learned that if you hold R when pressing A for the boomerang, you get an aiming reticule. Take that, you goddamn Remobras!
I did not know this! I'm still probably going to grab Bounce Bombs because they are zero meter and hit directly above you (which is useful for ascending/descending flying monsters when they leave/enter an area).
gave long sword a whirl last night. it almost seems too simple compared to IG. I like the power though.
The moves are simpler, but the animations are a LOT shorter and don't lock you down for the duration of the combo. The thing I love about Long Sword is that you can gauge exactly what move you want to use next with each swing. Whereas, Insect Glaive (one of my main weapons, love it!) locks you into animations in most of its bread-and-butter moves... you HAVE to fling yourself in a direction and launch back up when you do the whirly-copter thing. You HAVE to wait for the glaive to swing around yourself while you are doing the infinite combo.
But the Long Sword allows you to mix and match and chain and cancel each of the moves. Need to extend the Spirit Combo? Throw in a regular slash between the first and second slash and the second and third slash. Need to Parry quickly? The next window is just after the current swing. You can always press Triangle+Circle to Fade Slash away in a direction and position yourself in a new location. It's an extremely close-in mobility weapon (as opposed to IG, which is a long distance aerial mobility weapon) with great reach and power. Only Sword and Shield is potentially better when it comes to footsies with a monster, and it lacks an instant parry/counter (it does have its own tricks that compensate, of course).
I actually find IG to be more simple, once you know the bread-and-butter moves. Because there's not much you can do other than the strategic decision of "Should I tackle the monster by land or by air?", after grabbing essences (there is a great backflip/spin animation that gives you a close-in positioning tool). With LS, if you are really in-tune with the weapon, you are constantly reading the monster and deciding between Fade-Slash to reposition, Parry to counter attack, or continuing a combo (and even then, you have the choice between Spirit Combos > Helmbreaker or the normal slashing combos, which can both be extended with other slashes or chain into Fade Slash or Parry).
Foresight Slash is the light and the way, especially once you figure out roar timings. I'll take that free Spirit gauge increase at the start of every fight, thank you.
Except against Vaal Hazak, who flees across half the room before he does the first roar, the jerk.

Foreslight Slash is incredible when you get the hang of it, you can parry Teostra supernovas and everything if you're feeling spicy, the LS in world is really fun to play, it's always been kind of a dance-y weapon where you want to stick to a monster and read their attacks to position around them on the fly, and the new instant counter just makes it better at it.
I forgot how mh has that ultimate test of character when people are taking turns doing urgents. It’s always terrifying being the last person, because you know some shit lord is going to jet.
I also like it when people jump the queue. Like you get some asshole who joins the game and immediately posts a quest without saying anything.
I was getting rolled pretty bad yesterday in MHGU against 4* Najarala and Nargacuga. I like the design of Najarala, but it's really hard to read his movements, and the fight was a pain. And after that, it was late and I was missing the timing on dodging Nargacuga's obvious attacks. Trying to get better at Adept Charge Blade.
But earlier today, I was nailing the just blocks against Volvidon and it reminded me why I love this game. I guess just blocks charge up your sword AND let you execute an A button double slash without holding the button.
Apparently, Prowlers get frogs to fish out Plesioth for free.* Also, the Plesioth fight is pretty straightforward as a Prowler. If you've ever used Bow or Bowgun against him, it will seem familiar. Stay out of tailsweep, keep whacking the head with shots, read his movements and dodge before you attack.
* If you aren't familiar with this, when you first encounter Plesioth (without him getting aggro'ed by anyone) you can sneak up to a fishing spot and toss in a Frog as bait. He'll become interested, and you can fish him out of the water. It does about as much damage as a Large Barrel Bomb and gives your teammates a window to attack similar to a successful mount.
Trying to find My Weapon... I think I may SnS for a little while until I can build some stuff that actually brings out the value of different weapons (like elemental effects on fast weapons, etc)... But I tried charge blade... It felt like it would be more effective to just hit the monster with a good strike from another weapon rather than the charge base attack, put charge in blade, then hit it with the charged axe... Or does the charged axe attach really do THAT much damage to be worth all the setup?

It depends on the weapon, I guess (and the game that you're talking about... MH World or MHGU?), but for the most part, the answer is "Yes, it's worth it". The Super Amped Element Discharge is on par (probably slightly more damage) than the bigass anime Spirit Helmbreaker on a Longsword when you are fully charged and have a Red spirit bar, and it's a LOT faster to get to that point. You keep your Shield charge in MHW, too, so you just need to get phials back to do it again. And again. And again. It does around 220+% motion value of damage (or something like that), not including the explosions from it. I mean, the third True Strong Charge thing on Great Sword that you have to do some setup for also has a similar motion value, and it's probably the biggest single hit you can get in the game (SAED is actually multiple hits, unlike the Great Sword charge attacks).

Charge Blade is very technical and if you don't like charging the phials, charging your shield, charging your SWORD (I feel this is actually worth it if you get a second, moreso if you can catch the monster in the FACE with the sword-blast out of charge as it's deceptively powerful) then I suggest using another weapon.
Switch Axe is a lot like Charge Blade without the bullshit, it plays more like a Longsword that can turn into a Greatsword, kinda.
That said, I love Charge Blade.

Is there a generally ideal ordering of weapon augments, or is it a case by case thing? Pondering what to slap on my Diablos bow.

Case-by-case, really, but most people go for Affinity or Health Regen. Augments undergo diminishing returns when you stack the same one, so most people go for a spread of different Augments.
For a bow, I'd go for Affinity first. I don't find Health Regen to be very helpful as a Bow user (who spends most of the time avoiding attacks rather than eating them). If you have a second Augment on a Bow, I'd actually dump Attack on there next.

After a few weeks playing Adept Charge Blade a lot, I realized that when I braced my arm I was unconsciously doing the little adept guard motion.
After a week not playing, I noticed I wasn't any more.

It's nnot that I didn't like it. I was just wondering if it was as efficient at dps vs just hitting a monster with another weapon. I'm basically considering each of the steps against just hitting using a different weapon, (like, the charge up string in sword mode takes as much time as 2 hits from some other weapons).

Also, is there a new charm farming method?
In grank the easiest upgrade for the best raw right out the gate is the elder line. Mine has served me well so far.
I have not looked yet on the charm method.
The melder unlocks super g rank melding at some point and it seems pretty good at converting crap into better crap.
