Yea I'm basically at arch tempered level and hit a bit of a wall. I've beaten at kt and kush. Kush is basically because I lucked into a solid group. I can't manage the arch monsters solo but randoms are too unpredictable.

Upgrading/maxing out a high end armor set with spheres can make a huge difference, its been pretty key to survival for me. Problem is they're (the armor spheres that actually make a dent in leveling up parts) not very easy to come by so you have to be damn sure its a set you like.
Spent so many spheres on certain sets only for the gamma version to come out which is a thousand times better. Goddammit.
Going to try to see if theres an event going on during the fest that has a high chance for quality spheres.
Can you still do the trick where you peek ahead at the gems you get from the ... uhhh ... whatever that lady is with the cauldron? I can’t even imagine how far behind I am at this point.

Arch Nerg has finally been slain with less than three minutes left on the clock..
Can you still do the trick where you peek ahead at the gems you get from the ... uhhh ... whatever that lady is with the cauldron? I can’t even imagine how far behind I am at this point.
Less far behind than I am! I still just preordered Iceborne, because there will always be a thing to hunt that is appropriate for me, even if I'm not at the cutting edge or "current".
I mean it's gonna cart the shit out of me for a while but like, yeah.

I have all the other materials but looks like I'm going to have to do Arch Nergigante three more times for tickets to complete the set.

yeah, I clustered him once again this morning and then lost a second run by the skin of my teeth. if there's a PA group that wants to get together sometime this week for it i'd be down, an organized group would certainly make things easier
A few new details about Iceborne. Sword & Shield will be getting new exclusive mechanics to make up for the slinger ability being allowed for all weapons. Palico weapons are getting upgrades for new abilities, the res ability is the upgrade for vigorwasps obviously. Big one to me is the winter outfit the player hunter is wearing in all the preview stuff is layered armor you get at the start of the story.

A friend of mine wanted to farm AT Lunastra so he coud get better gear to fight AT Nerg, but nope, he can't do that anymore so he's shelved the game again.

Keep getting kicked from Arch Nerg parties with high hunter rank people. Dammit.
I know the fight and can get to the last phase just fine. ;_;
Was just getting absolutely washed as HBG during the third transition, fight would start well. Constantly stagger and KO him and break both horns within the first 5 to 10 minutes but once he would go aggro I just could not keep up. The back hop dunk just kept destroying me and finally I said fuck it and brought out ol'faithful.
The fight was way more manageable for me as lancer. I can apply constant pressure, walk and guard through his super man dive (power guard is a trap with his ridiculous hitbox), eat his tail swipe and hook and slam combos. The back hop dunk still got me twice because that shit feels like it just comes out of nowhere.
If you can make it through the two lava areas of the fight, the rest of the fight is about pacing and not over-committing and getting caught slipping. I probably added an unnecessary 5 minutes or so to the fight by being a scrub and completely whiffing the rocks in the first area and then not getting a chance to drop him when he came back later in the fight.
the backhop is just such bullshit. some weapons can deal with it way better than others, it seems like the way to avoid it is to generally be moving to your right while he's in the air, but it depends where you are in relation to his model too.
Is the G-rank equivalent coming with the expansion going to be like LR->HR was, or more like HR -> Elders/Tempered? (It's my first MH! I don't know these things...)

I can't speak to Tempered, but traditionally it's more like LR -> HR but with more one-shots...
In my recent boredom and since I now have the accompanying pigment, I maxed out the Snowbaron armor. It's actually pretty good for my style, giving Vault, Rec Speed +2, Stamina Rec, Evade Extender, and Mounting Master. I just talisman/gem in Razor Sharp and I'm good to go; if I use the Seregios duals I even keep the ability to sharpen while jumping around.
Sadly the Neset armor has better defense but it's nice to have something different.

After all my excitement for AT Nerg, I still haven't had the free time to get on and give him a real go. I jumped in to a game the other day thinking I would, got him up to his final phase, but died stupidly trying to counter block one of his dive bombs, but did it waaaay to early. Then real life got in the way and haven't been back. Depending on times, if I see Naphtali on this week I may have the opportunity if you guys are doing it when i'm around. /shrug, we'll see.

I'd be okay about having Greatest Jagras drop a unique collectable if you kill or capture it. Enough of them nets you a Jagras layered armor set.
