Oh man...yeah, fuck Jeeves.
Did about ten rounds at it, couldn't beat it. Its going to be like AT Nerg where I just throw myself at it endlessly for weeks and I'm just emotionally and spiritually drained after Nerg.
My one big problem with the endgame of World. The only monsters that are worth fighting anymore are the ridiculously juiced up elder dragons which are ball crushingly hard.
Every time I come back to the game hyped to play more, it becomes just such a draining experience that it makes me want to take another break from the game again.

what strategy are you using for that fight? honestly, I just cheese it with a pierce HBG build. heat guard (kulve Y legs or clearmind charm) + guard up + one shield mod (not even guard) should be enough to survive the fight, assuming you avoid being in melee range

About the exact same setup I'm using.
Shield doesn't seem to work well against the beams which keep nailing me.

It's by far the biggest problem with World - they're completely up their own ass on elder dragons. One advantage to GU is that since they were able to easily port things forward it's a much flatter top end with just a shitload of elders and flagships. The challenge comes in learning each of them, instead of having to grind up a treadmill of increasingly silly armors to handle the next one.
Well, that and the obligatory challenge quests, but those are for the challenge (and bragging rights).

do you have guard up? you need that for the lasers

Ah.
I only have copious amounts of "guard". Always assumed people are are talking about the same skill when they're talking about two different ones since it seems bulwark charm gives that and I haven't used it before now.

Yeah, I wish they'd come up with a different name for it, but there's always been two different skills. One to reduce the costs of it, one to improve what you can block overall (I think it also works to make SnS/GS blocks go closer to lance/charged CB blocks, but can't I remember).
yeah the laser counts as an "unblockable" attack, so you need the guard up skill to block it.
Xeno lasers, Teo supernova, Kulve lava breath into aoe attack, Vaal vomit breath, uragaan/radobaan fart attacks (explosion and sleep gas), deviljho leg slam into prone are the big ones I can think of

I'm still flummoxed that the Gen localization team thought that having both "Deadeye" and "Dead Eye" skills was a good idea. Fortunately they're both worthless for my purposes and I just ignore them but still.
slot in some heat guard and you are wildly safe with that build

I did my AT xeno with styx LBG and a metric ton of pierce 2 ammo. Did the job well enough.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

How important is it for HBG to have both guard and guard up?
How important is it for HBG to have both guard and guard up?
depends on the monster. Something like AT Nergi, you want points in guard to reduce damage. guard up unblockable attacks, guard will help reduce chip as well but isn't 100% needed. guard up is really only needed if you're going to try to block unblockable attacks
for xeno you definitely want guard up and don't really need guard (or so ive read). still can't manage him.
i think guard lowers chip damage the higher you have it.
kind of regretted not doing some runs during the festival now that I'm back in a little. it'll be chill now that my white whales have mostly been slain
one is radobaan which, whatever, next time effluvial opera shows up i'll just put in the time and probably get it eventually. only reason i don't have it is because i've been picking up other crowns that way
the other three
the other three are kushala daora, black diablos, and kirin
I got Black Diablos this morning. You can enjoy the slight consolation that she's shock-trappable for an easier measurement, I guess. All I need now are big Nerg and big Vaal.
i'm surprised anyone is still bad at kulve at this point but i believe it based on what I've seen
is there a good way to pair up
i usually surf lobbies
there's a lot of people who just spam attacks only on her horns, even after they're chipped (you can't do more damage to the horn HP until area 4 after the chip) and don't try to break mantle parts (really important for AT KT) and just poor weapon choices (I'm not saying everyone has to run thunder lbg/db/bow, but at least bring partbreaker, yknow). I get that everyone who knew what they were doing spammed her to hell in december and got everything or stopped playing until iceborne but its just frustrating.
it's hard going from premade P1 runs on PC to this. :rotate:
edit: oh my glob that dude using dante's CB even during area 4. you see what I mean?
for months i've been using my modified standard hammer set with the guild cross waist swapped out for the vaal waist to squeeze in a final rank of partbreaker and two health boosts
literally just occurred to me to swap in empress gamma, slot in partbreaker, and get two free ranks of evade window
I got a couple new weapons during our kulve runs. nothing like super great, but i did pick up the kjarr thunder lance and glaive, both of which i was hoping to pick up to fuck around with elements. the glaive is a direct upgrade on my first phase kt insect glaive build, so i may play around with that.
been trying to go over all my sets and see if i can incorporate the new nerg stuff and it like, never actually works.
i still don't have a switch axe build that does everything i want it to.

This is always my problem with MH games. i literally do not find elders to be fun to fight. kirin, everything bounces and runs around like a crack addict. Kushala, flies around making tornadoes everywhere jsut devolves into flashing the whole fight. Teostra, blast blight just being near it, likes to just charge halfway across the map. Nerg, you just randomly die to spikes. The giant monsters are just huge hp sponges that also like to just jump across the map. The AT versions are just even bigger hp sponges.
I haven't had issues finding good lobbies for Kulve in PS4, I do check how many are actually doing them though, sometimes people are fucking around in investigations while in the KT lobby.
Last night I was in a lobby where we had 3 groups running her, and all three groups were doing the whole "Just let her leave at pursuit 1" thing, and then waiting for all other groups to finish in order to get a pursuit level 4-6 and then everyone just goes for the horn break.
Was doing full runs in 20-25 minutes, it was pretty nice.
they're going to be revealing two weapons a day going forward, so I assume they're paring them together by streamstone assignment given gs/ls go together
switch axe: you can discharge from slightly further away but if the monster moves you get knocked off and your grappling hook gets wrapped around your legs and you have to do a qte to untangle it
charged blade: super amped super amped elemental discharge

Unless you guys need a third or fourth man to fill space, always up for that.
Now to throw myself at AT Jeeves until the day is over.
