Unless I'm running into some kind of bug, 580 might be the start of another soft cap. All my Dreaming City weeklies are done so I can’t check those, but all my raid rewards are now +1 power drops. And speaking of raid rewards, I got the one I wanted most.
Raid's considered a 580 event, right? If so, that'd make sense since their new system is big bumps for "underpowered" characters. Did even the first encounter only give a +1?
I wonder if it checks the vault and you, or the vault, you, and other classes gear? I.e., if you're at 581, could you move some weapons around to get to 579 to get a +5?

Yeah, I was pretty sure this would be the case. Raid and such caps out at 580, last 20 points is either Prestige raid or +1 at a time.
If I'm 530, is it worth it for me to spend 10 minutes doing that raid chest cheese this week, or am I just going to get something that's like ilvl 535?
Dear PA. I have an Idiotic Bravo bounty to complete. This will take approx. several games. Come hang out with me in about 40 min or so and save me from solo-queue.
How much, on average, would one suppose the PL boost is per week when grinding through 3 characters with weapon swapping as opposed to just 1? Is it super worth it when pushing for level gains?

It depends on RNG. If your alts start pulling in lower power level weapons and wasting their drops, not at all. I know a guy who has 3 guys and I'm 5 PL above him at 360. I only have 1 Titan and we both have just done one raid encounter.
If he was lucky, though? I have another buddy who has also only done one raid encounter with 3 characters and he's 366 ish.

I think one can reasonably expect to see 2-3 more levels per alt. Depends on where you are with the softcaps. The higher you climb, the less opportunities to raise.
I think the problem is that nobody has a very large sample size for this comparison.
I also think there are considerable time investments. Are alts worth it if it means you don't always get your Prime Engram every day?
Given that I've had plenty of days where I play 3-4 hours and get zero Primes, this shouldn't be a driving focus IMO.
Yea, but Prime's are really good drops up till very high. Is it better to put those 3-4 hours into your main for a powerful drop there or into an alt in hopes that it results in a transferable item that's better? That's really in context of how long it'd take to get the alts up to the same level as your main.
Nobody is really going to have empirical evidence on this. We all just have their specific experience in at most 3 cases to go by. We know there is a lot of variation in how the drops pan out.
I guess what I'm getting at is that for the first time in Destiny it is not obviously better to have all three characters for leveling quickly. At least not until you're putting in huge amounts of time consistently.

I did 3, and the 3rd contributed basically nothing to my overall light. It was mostly 2 trading off weapons and leapfrogging each other, and a 3rd that I could’ve never touched and did just fine without.

But I zoned in, ran straight to Blind Well and found a group instantly doing Tier 2. It took the second run through Tier 3 though to get my Seed of Light to drop though. Grabbed the Warlock Solar support tree and man, this is gonna be rough to level. I ran around a bit with Starfire Protocol but since I wasn't soloing, it's rough getting it to work.
Something it took me a while to notice (because I'd never initially think to use it that way): Well of Radiance deals damage when you first cast it to enemies in the aoe. Just enough to kill weak enemies.
So I tended to find a clump of weak minions, fly up above them and ground slam my ult into the middle to kill them with it and get some quick xp.
Why does the game sometimes decide I deserve to have the Prime Attunement buff after getting a prime so that I can get another and, other times, it decides....na, one Prime is good enough for you today?
And I don't have them sent to the mailbox.

It stacks up on days you don't get one, with no visual marker, so you can have 3 instances of it going and obtain 3 in a day but if you get all 3 you'll only get 1 the next day.
Is it worth pulling out any Y1 exotics for a primary slot like Sweet Business? I feel like my primary slot is gonna languish in mediocrity forever.
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Primary exotics are pretty meh. Some of the energy exotics are pretty solid, otherwise Whisper or Sleeper are what most folks are using these days.

I've been using Crimson in PvE since Santa Xur brought it. Pretty dang good, especially if you can land crit shots consistently and thus eliminate the need to reload!
Found it underwhelming in PvP, though. Just doesn't hit hard enough (maybe I'm not close enough?). In PvP, I'm all about that Vigilance Wing.

Define "worth". Pulling items from the collection will never boost your power level (unless you have some astounding bad RNG luck and one of your slots is 20 PL below your average). That said, Y1 exotic guns are just as good, mechanically, as Y2 exotic guns. Same number of perks and everything. If a Y1 gun is better for a given activity there's no reason not to use one.
Y1 exotic armor, on the other hand, as drawn from the collection, is strictly worse than Y2 exotic armor.

Cerberus+1 just makes me irritated.
That gun fucking sucks, possibly a joke weapon? I wish I've gotten 2 Phoenix Protocols instead of getting that piece of junk twice... It wasnt even a PL upgrade.

I've been enjoying the Crimson in PvE too. Still going to try it out in PvP if only because I can't end up doing worse than I currently do.

To clarify, Y1 exotic armour is just as good as Y2 if you got it from a drop or Xur. If you get it frmo the collection it's the exact same except it will only have 1 perk per column so no selection or anything. Which may be fine or may not be. Beyond that the armour still does it's thing and a ton of Y1 exotics are worth using still and at least a few new trees rely on them.

I'm definitely stalking Xur to get a decent roll on a Crown of Tempest.

Just wish they made a new ornament for it.
As far as I can determine, Xur has the exact same rolls every time. There's one specific roll he has for each slot and every item in that slot, regardless of class, gets that roll.

Hm.
I'll have to pay attention to my alts, then, because I won't touch him for days at a time and usually it still goes away after two. I think. You just made me unsure of myself.

To be clear, you are using the Y1 Vig Wing?
Also, Y1 vs Y2 exotic Armor, I finally got an Armamentarium about a week ago when Xur sold the Prometheus Lens. Is that considered Y1 because it was from an expansion?

Since Forsaken I've gotten:
* Chormatic Fire
* Crown of Tempests
* Vigilance Wing
* Void trace rifle
* Mag boots
* Lunafaction boots
* DARCI
* Ophidian Aspect
So 8, not 10. Unless you count Ace of Spades and Chaperone, in which case it's 10.
Have not hit the Lord of Wolves lotto

Alts level a lot faster when catching up but their effect on your top possible level isn't that big most of the time.

Sucks that the Sleeper catalyst drops from Prestige SoS... I never got it and noone wants to go there now because fuck that place.
