Let me share the exact moment I stopped playing DMC2. About eight or nine stages in, the mission starts on a platform and you get these demon dogs running at you. Of course by this point it had been firmly impressed upon me how piss-easy the game is. So I wanted to see what the dogs had before just blasting them.
They ran at me.
Then around me.
And kept running in circles.
I stood there, completely still, watching them run around me for FIVE MINUTES without hitting me once. And I turned the game off.

I love her new jacket tho, is super stylish. A bunch of details on it appear to be identical to DMC4 Dante, like the strap on her chest. Makes me think it's borrowed gear.
People have mentioned it but DMC4 Special Edition had this too. It literally doesn't matter, you can just ignore it.
It's for people who just want all the moves right away.
"Pay money to skip the game" microtransactions always have a high risk of encouraging purchases by intentionally making the game worse. DMC4 didn't originally have microtransactions, so if they ruined the game's economy in the special edition it would be really obvious. DMC5 doesn't have a version with no real money shop to compare with, so they have a lot more freedom to tweak the red orb economy to be more grindy and unsatisfying.
Don't believe the industry's bullshit about "player choice," microtransactions always influence game balance.
They made all the money and never spent it, how they go down?
Supposedly in the post-walking dead expansion era of the company, they only actually made money from walking dead 1 and maybe minecraft story mode. Everything else lost money, and the ownership strategy was apparently surviving off of venture capital obtained off the success of TWD1 hoping for a string of similar big successes that never came.

They had some real winners in Batman, Borderlands and Wolf Among Us.
sounds like there was a lot of poor "crunch time" mentality overtime practices that worked them to the bone and no severances and some pretty shitty things all around
it was about as fucked an ending for the company as it possibly could have been for the employees, to say nothing of the majority of the people who worked on the games being contractors with no benefits or unemployment insurance because this is america and working 100 hour work weeks for a company doesn't count as long as you use the right magic tax loophole words

The more I hear about TellTale's work culture the more I'm glad that company is dead. Sure, a lot of people lost their jobs, but a company being run like that shouldn't be successful. It's really awful that they were hiring people till the final week of operations. Imagine moving your family to LA, getting on a lease, and then letting go without severance! Like, is California a 'right to work' state? Cause a lawsuit needs to happen.
