I regret not buying the Tyerial's Charger, I regret not getting the Blizzcon mount last year, I regret not playing when the red croehound was around, or when the free motorcycle was available I'll be playing the next 6 months anyway so why not.
Frankly it's genuinely surprising that six-month sub incentives aren't offered more frequently
If I were an evil person I'd offer this kind of thing mainly at the end of the content cycle before a new expansion to incentivize buying sub time when there's no new content coming

That was what they did with Tyrael's charger / "Free" Diablo 3 IIRC.
So the 6 month sub thing made the wow tokens start spiking. Saw that they were sold out briefly as a result.
That might have been the point - less people will be paying $20 for tokens if they're only going to get 100k apiece from them. A mount that requires multiple tokens in a single shot to get is a good way to spike up the price and get people buying more tokens to sell for gold.
I think it's no secret at this point that the community's reception of BFA has been fairly negative so far. Lots of people are trying to understand why. What went wrong? Why is everyone so unhappy? What can we do to fix it? I believe we can answer these questions by looking at patterns from previous expansions. Let's begin.
Admittedly, I have no data to support this, but from my own observations of the community, it seems that WotLK, MoP and Legion were the top 3 expansions in terms of community reception. BC is also praised fairly heavily, but I generally don't see it regarded as highly as the other three.
The three most poorly-received expansions at this point are undoubtedly Cataclysm, WoD and BFA.
So what do the good expansions have in common with each other? What were the bad ones lacking? The answer is a new subspecies of tauren. WotLK had Taunka, MoP had Yaungols, Legion had Highmountain Tauren. Cataclysm, WoD and BFA did not introduce any new tauren subspecies. It is clear, then, that this is what determines the quality of an expansion.
A lot of people are making suggestions on how to 'fix' BFA, such as changing the way Azerite gear works, fixing the bugs, making rep grinding less painful, etc. None of these band-aid fixes address the root of the problem. The only way to save this expansion is to introduce a new subspecies of tauren ASAP.
Here is my suggestion: Gazelle-tauren with orange-brown fur, white bellies, black stripes, and tall, wavy gazelle horns. They are adapted to hot weather and flat terrain, and live in the valleys of Vol'dun. They are called Lowvalley Tauren. Other ideas could include zebra-tauren, giraffe-tauren, or dinosauren.
Thank you for reading and I hope you now understand what is causing problems in the game we love. I hope this change can be implemented soon to restore WoW to its former glory.
Glad this game that I paid for in addition to a recurring monthly fee has microtransactions.
If anything, I think this is probably less offensive than other things since it's basically just a bonus (currently) to people buying 6 month subs. You're not paying extra for it.
With that being said, there's been a shop for a long time now, I think that ship has already sailed.
Ok back to alliance for a priest. Maybe if I take long enough to level, 8.1 will come out (unlikely!).
Have any priests had any luck leveling holy in BFA? I know I should probably go shadow, but I just don't entirely love how it plays right now.
I leveled as holy the entire way. It's mostly boring since everything takes forever to kill but it wasn't particularly difficult since you can keep yourself alive through mostly anything.
like it's convenient to be able to click cast in raids but giving up your ability to hard target is an awful trade as soon as mobility or awareness matters
it extremely sucks in PvP since needing to keep track of your cursor is pointless when you can just keybind target

In what way does using clique give up your ability to hard target?

Yeah, I've got a button set up to target. Most of the time I don't need it, but there's definitely situations where I do.
Glad this game that I paid for in addition to a recurring monthly fee has microtransactions.
Yeah, I often think about how all of the cosmetic mounts on the ingame shop completely ruin my game experience.
That’s literal content you aren’t getting that we were told our subscriptions were going towards. And let me cut off you at the next lame excuse and state that they’ve already told us that they don’t have enough time to add art assets for everything, so the money from the shop isn’t creating content that would have otherwise never existed. It’s literally taking time from the shit our subs pay for so they can triple dip.
In short: it’s unfettered greed so please, for the love of god, don’t go to bat for billion dollar corporations.

I dunno, I think it's naive to believe that cosmetic mounts are made purely by a cash shop team that's paid from cash shop funding.
More likely, the cash shop syphons off a significant number of unique designs that would otherwise be available from in-game sources as part of your subscription and/or box price.

If they didn't make money, those corporations would not fund, develop, or maintain games. A bundle for 6 months of game time for less than the regular cost of 6 months of game time and a nifty mount is hardly the epitome of corporate greed.

It is blatantly obvious that it is much easier to justify having a given art team size if you can generate revenue from art beyond the sub.
I have no idea whether this is true. You might be right. You might be wrong. It is entirely logical for either to be true. It's a lot easier for an art director to go to his boss and say "we need to hire an extra artist" if the justification is "so we can put them to work on store content".

It’s not a matter of making money. It’s about squeezing customers for every last goddamn cent and people just fall over themselves to defend it.
And those people are little different than the people falling all over themselves to attack it, people who have likely never worked in an environment where you had to manage a budget and justify every team member's existence on a weekly basis.

I had just been thinking that in a couple of weeks I'd unsubscribe for a year or so (my usual pattern with new expansions). Guess I wont be now, that ship is pretty sweet. GG Blizzard subscriber retention division.

I'd love to be proven wrong on this.
You say significant, how frequently do you think mounts get added to the cash shop? I think maybe 2 were added during Legion?
Also, this is mostly a solved problem since you can buy these mounts for gold, and they're definitely not the most expensive mounts you can purchase for gold, not by a long shot.

I'm sorry, but offering a cosmetic item is not squeezing.
But the shop offers more than cosmetics now so that excuse also falls flat.
Such as?

If that pirate ship mount counts as a flying, ground, and water mount I'd be down but I will be appalled if it is not also a water mount (I still don't have a single water mount).
I don't even really want to play WoW that much, I subbed a week or two ago and I've mostly ignored my now 111 Rogue to level up my Void Elf Mage for the transmog but I want that mount.

PLEASE tell me how they don’t count, unlike the true skill of doing mindless quests and dungeons. I wanna see just how far the goalposts go.
