it's me! i was the one who was saying "hmm i don't think this meta is as good as you guys are saying it is, a lot of these matchups seem pretty onesided" in un'goro! vindication!

Also, reading Ishkar and Donais's responses are kind of worrisome. I feel like that's sort of become the refrain lately.
Ishkar, if someone posts data that suggests a real problem in your game, typically the best approach is to post your own data in response assuming you can refute it. As INANTP so eloquently put it "Nuh uh" isn't a thoughtful response. Heck, even just a few numbers extrapolated from some internals would be nice.
Donais's response is by far the more troubling of the two. The problem of polarization isn't new, and player enjoyment/engagement relating to it is actually a fairly well studied problem in the gaming as a whole. It's been looked at in fighting games, racing games, other card games (Magic), Mobas - almost any competitive genre with a skill component sees this problem arise to some extent. A number of designers have written essays discussing this topic in depth, looking at simple questions like "Why isn't Rock, Paper, Scissors more popular?"
Donais's response is glib and places the onus on the VS crew to explain away Blizzard's design choices, which is presumptuous at best and dismissive at worst. Donais could, for example, use that response to talk a little bit about why polarization isn't inherently good or bad himself. It would have been nice to see some introspection regarding the topic, specifically around the concepts of Depth and Player Agency - two of the principle ways you combat stagnation from too little (or too much) polarization.
It would have been nice to even see a little bit of acknowledgement that maybe polarization right now is bad, but it's part of an overall plan or something. I mean all he really had to say is something to the effect of "We pushed different types of decks in this expansion, and as a direct result that's led to more polarizing matchups. It's something we wanted to try, and now we're seeing how players react to a meta game with combo heavy elements. It's something we're actively watching and gathering feedback on to help guide us in future expansions."
They've been doing this for five years and sometimes it feels like they've learned nothing about their game.
What the hell is going on with the tablet (Android) version of HS? It's had to download/patch on startup about half a dozen times in the last couple weeks.
PSA Reminder: You've only got a day left to choose which player you want to see drop out in the first round to get you your pity participation pack. Choose and lose here.

Why don't they tell us about this shit in game?
Mine had a popup at launch about it, then never saw it again.

Right? Seems to be every day now, it's ridiculous. Also, this weekend I couldn't play for like 36 hours, it just wouldn't ever load. I'm sure by the end of this week I'll find that they've bloated the install to consume all my storage again, and have to reinstall again.

Thank you for this, because the game client never fucking told me this was going on, despite having done so every other time.
Whenever possible I try and do the opposite of what the Hearthstone community says.

I've been playing a weird self made Pogo/Shuffle Rogue... No it's not great, but playing Sonya on a board and trading in smaller stuff for even stronger and yet cheaper things feels awesome. The combination of Shadow Step, Zola, and Sonya lets me do some tricky things to shuffle the same few cards around my opponents removal options a bunch of times. I thought about putting the Quest in there for even further giggles, but I dunno if that actually helps or hurts the deck.

I picked justsaiyan because it’s a good pun and I like stupid things.
Let's do this thaaaaang
Edit: Weird, just realized that it's this week and weekend, thus continuing a three-year tradition of me watching the Fall Championship on hotel wifi at the end of a long night of wedding partying.
Iirc 'Battlecry: Gain stats' works with Rogue quest, so mechanically it's feasible. The question is less "Does the quest make Pogo weaker?" and more "Why is Pogo in my quest deck?".

Didn't they say a week or two ago that they were happy with balance?
I wonder what their internal numbers look like. Completely irrelevant, but this thread has slowed down a lot. I know I and a buddy have basically stopped and that was before Magic the Gathering: Arena released and was awesome. Stream viewership seems to have dropped a lot.

I figured this was because of the newer competition and the VS article made them reconsider their considering balancing.
Of course it will be with cards that do not mess up the meta like Rogue's Quest (because they hate this card, not because of the meta) and Pogo Hopper.

They probably were until several prominent streamers began seriously discussing switching to MTGA or Artifact because of how boring Hearthstone has been for multiple metas.
For all two people playing Hearthstone. The Brawl is choose your hero and get a boss deck to play with.
Warlock is Sindragosa (which is cheesy since you put two frozen blocks on your opponent's side).
Paladin is the White King.
I don't know the rest since I only played as Warlock twice to get quests done. Forgot who my second opponent was.

I see they listened to the fans regarding this brawl last time and removed Sindragosa.
I take back my earlier comment until I actually encounter Sindragosa, these bosses are slightly different than last time, and seem much more fun. Plus I haven't seen a Sindragosa yet, after 7 games thus far.
MtG:A isn't as easy to watch on stream, though, sadly. Cards have too much text / are too small.
I have a few concerns about MTG:A as a streaming game. As you say, cards are smaller with a lot of text, and cards of the same color tend to look a lot alike on the board due to the angle used. Turns feel like they take longer. And if any when tournaments start happening, I feel like the tournament metas will be fairly boring - I can easily see 40%+ of the population bring the presumed top deck (plus sideboard obviously), meaning that we'll see the same decks smashing into the same decks over and over again to a greater degree than in Hearthstone.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.
Idk if you've ever watched a paper Magic tourney but they're incredibly snoozefest. You need to know card art to know what cards are and it's not always clear what's going on. The digital client helps greatly with both of those issues but it's still not a good spectator sport imo.
they've improved a lot since august but i don't think MTGA does a very good job of conveying presence and physicality with your permanents and hero and whatnot like hearthstone does, which i think is really important to make the game appeal to spectators
Hearthstone is a massively faster game than MtG, there are lots of phases and interrupts and all sorts of shit that slow MtG down. The combat mechanics alone take ages to resolve, by comparison. Hearthstone has a Start of Turn phase, a Play phase, and an End of Turn phase, that's it. And outside of Deathrattle and Secrets, there's zero out-of-turn interactions to worry about. You just slam your dudes against their dudes and/or their face, and that's it. You don't ask them how they want to assign defenders, or whether they want to activate abilities, or if they want to play any cards, none of that. To say nothing of land mechanics, advanced land mechanics, millions of effects that just go off because you sneezed on them, etc.
