If the best you can come up with against someone who's patently ignorant is to yell back at him, "Yeah? Well there's BOOKS, and they say you're WRONG!"
Then honestly you're not coming out of this looking great either.
That seems like a weird PSA.
I mean was New Zealand having a "people tripping over things" epidemic or something?
Not sure, there was a second one of a dude slipping when he gets out of the shower, but it was a tiny bit nsfw so I didn't bother to post it. Just the government saying "Hey, maybe watch where you're fucking going so we don't have to shell out so much cash on you idiots." I guess.

The Genesis outsold the SNES in America after a brutal ad campaign. Nintendo barely fought back, wanting to maintain their friendly company image. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bun8tA_ksZw

Basically any Toonami commercial from the 90's but this is the best one I can find online. https://youtu.be/AJkGa3CEa1c
Also I swear I had the exact same idea for a thread last week and thought I would be the only one interested in it.
Great ad, but I'll never forgive Cartoon Network for butchering Tenchi Muyo to market it to kids.
How so? I remember it watching back in the day but have never tried to revisit it.
They cut scenes (Yosho grabbing Ryoko and her subsequently testing her strength by destroying a staircase in ep 3, for instance), digitally painted over nudity, re-dubbed the dialog (sake became tea) and just that changed parts of the story (the whole Yosho being betrothed to his sister, Ayeka).
And that's just the OVA series (also called Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-ohki.) After sitting through all of that I just couldn't bring myself to stay the course and keep track of the changes made to Tenchi: Universe or Tenchi in Tokyo.
To bring this back on topic, here are a couple of cute ads I recently rediscovered.

It's possible I'm the only one who remembers this one but it's just weird enough that it's stuck with me over the years.

What do I know of commercial ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?

The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing;
Rush in and die, Nintendogs—I was an ad before I was a thing.

I still have a copy of Ironsword and a slightly damaged original box, it features Fabio (yes, the one that took a bird to the face on a roller coaster) looking fabulous in a Conan style outfit.

Well, this is a PSA, not a commercial, but it aired with the commercials on the afternoon cartoon blocks of programming when I was a kid. Some other members have also posted PSAs, so I think it's safe.
Now sit down, and enjoy the hilariously outdated "science"

Yes, with a quick verbal "boom." You take a man's peko, you deny him his dab, all that is left is to rise up and tear down the walls of Jericho with a ".....not!" -TexiKen
I was going to comment on the lack of Joe Isuzu but I went and watched some, and maybe some things are better left in the past lol
There's one commercial I can't find though, it was a soda commercial where two women are tanning, and the 'stinger' is the camera pulls back and they're on a rooftop in the middle of a bustling city. Set to "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin. I can't remember the actual soda they were marketing, so hooray for effectiveness, but it always made me feel this hard-to-define melancholy.
This e-trade commercial is actually probably the first one that I remember that I was like "ooh, that was clever." In retrospect, it's not as much as I might have thought, but it still stuck with me.
But anyway, I've always had a soft spot for the nike soccer commercials. They're always SO GOOD.
Not in line with the funny stuff all up in this thread but this one from Adidas is a great example of powerful storytelling from brands for me. Also this was the global debut of Justice's much anticipated (at the time) sophomore album, which was a really smart move.
And I'll never forget Guinness' 'Surfer', which always wins the big public 'Greatest Ad of All Time' polls here in the UK. Featuring the banging 'Phat Planet' by Leftfield.
I would have loved to have been in the boardroom when the suits signed this one off.

Terrible Terry Tate all fucking day. I work in advertising and I still use it as an example of amazing branded content.
You can’t come up into Terry’s house, and kick my dog, and walk off with a box full of ballpoints! Your ass must be crazy! WOO!
