    One time a friend told me his tablet was running like shit and asked me to fix it. When he handed it to me and I unlocked it it was still on hardcore porn. Made me think back on the bachelor life...

    @Blameless Cleric

    I get the name thing really well. I have had many handles over the years. Met more than a few people in real life with not my name.

    College:
    Ayanami_Rei- It was my joke name when I snuck into the CS team's server to watch folks and not say who I was. I left it on playing CS on the dorm servers that ended up being my friends group and roommates. They called me Rei for 2 years. Even though we had an actual roommate named Ray. But he was called Pally because his name was Paladin on CS.

    Secalam-This was my DAoC paladin. Still talk to folks from DAoC and my guild. And they call me Sec or Seaclam when being cheeky. Has a nostalgic feel. It was a good name.

    WoW:
    Grana-My first level 60 and the guy I helped organize and run RP events with on Silver Hand. I was actually pretty well known. I helped run some of the major forums. It was weird when people would randomly talk to you because you were known.

    Loga-Folks know this name if they play WoW with me now. My Orc warrior. Been called this forever and ever. Actually got into my long time guild which was an RP guild (guild chat was IC, there was an OOC channel too). Loga was/is not a smart Orc but was fun to RP.

    PA/WoW:
    Mazzyx-My second warlock and the name here. Has nothing to do with Mazzy Star. It was me mashing the random generator plus adding letters to make it a Forsaken name. I think I respond to it faster than my normal name. At least people spell it right verse my actual name.

    Names do have power and it is interesting how they do interact with ones sense of self. I mean my other main names were KillingDeath (I was in 5th grade) and Remmek which I still name characters because I like it. Oh and Raptormech is a really old one.

    The Long Dark is interesting but I think it doesn't quite gel. The world is beautiful, but getting good basically just requires you to memorize the map. It wants to be a realistic survival simulation but it is unrealistically punishing: you need to build a fire but you can't use a chair for firewood or use your axe on a dilapidated building, you have to layer clothing to keep from freezing to death but clothing is only assignable to a certain layer (you can't wear two shirts), you starve to death strangely fast, and of course animals that would normally leave you alone become aggressive to you at a distance (though supposedly there's an in-universe explanation for that? I dunno).

    every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

    EU4 news: Well, the second war of the anti-Milanese coalition has ended in my utter ruin. My reach exceeded my grasp and after annexing rome and converting to protestantism, suddenly the entire continent turned against me. I was so close to forming a new nation... but it is not to be. The dream of Italy has slipped from my grasp for at least another century and everyone in Europe now hates me. I could keep playing but I don't really feel like it anymore.

    WHICH MEANS: What country should I play as next? I'm open to basically any suggestions (but nothing too hard I'm still a newbie, only 37 hours in)

    fuck gendered marketing
