That thumbnail feels like a great example of bias-driven optical illusions in the human brain (or just poor human memory in general), because from that angle, the second revision Megadrive console hardware looks really good. But every other time I've seen it (which, admittedly, is from a disadvantageous angle of the console sitting upright on a surface) it looks so much worse. That looks almost as good as the original console hardware. Goddamn angles.
Wow, so not only is Canada still not getting it, but Japan's getting the North American version as well!
I'd honestly be less irritated by and even respect SEGA's apparent "fuck Canada" approach if they just came out and said it.
Btw, "MNC Dover", just wanted to let you know that I seem to be covered right now. I'm just pissed that it's necessary at all.
OK cool. If that falls through, let me know and I'll try and order a unit for you.
Will do!
By the way, is the SEGA CD Model 2 add-on available for the US version? I'm still pissed about how the Model 1 went down here, as I'd much prefer that version (in lieu of me actually owning one, because I just love the form factor), but I'm willing to consider this one.

Slightly conflicting emotions here... of course I just pre-ordered one. Like I need yet another hundred-plus quid mini console.
The excuse I'm using to myself is that I can pre-order it now, and then decide later, rather than wait until they all sell out. But we know that's just an excuse.
A hundred and five quid with just one controller though? Ouch.

I had been waffling back and forth about it but finally decided to cancel the pre-order for the Genesis 2. There just isn't anything on it I see is necessary, especially since all the working designs stuff was left off. Just a waste of potential for it.

It's got a bunch of good B-tier stuff on it but I couldn't face £105 for something else to play Hellfire and Super Hang-On on, however much I like them.
This will give you some perspective on the Sega CD if you never had one. https://youtu.be/g2eH3vYbdGo
It is kind of funny. Emulation has made the Sega CD and 32X games more accessible. They were too expensive at the time.
Turbografx minis are crazy prices now. They are like $200 on eBay.
PC Engine CoreGrafx Minis are still available new on Amazon UK for just over £100, if you can get them shipped. Same internals, game selection, and controller (albeit in different colors), but in a smaller case.

True, but only the TG16 mini has Salamander. (Then again, you get Tokimeki Memorial instead on the PCE...)

You're thinking the white Japanese PCE release. The European CoreGrafx version includes Salamander, the game selection is identical to the TG-16. It has the autofire switches on the controller too, like the TG-16.
Night Trap was about 100 times better in concept than in execution.
Given when it was made, and how innovative the concept is(especially since some room-to-room transitions are basically in seamless real time), I think it deserves props for the execution too.

Waiting for the (hopefully) inevitable hacks, but so far it seems to be getting good feedback.

I played some Sewer Shark, but I must have did something wrong. I crashed. Does the mini have manuals?
Edit: I looked at the Sewer Shark manual. Yeah. You need a guide to play that one.

You can rig up a 32x with an Mega Sg.
I get a kick out of the Sega CD games made by Digital Pictures.

The games made by Sierra using full motion video and the Tex Murphy games also interested me.
You can totally make an HD FMV game now.
The worst FMV game award has to go to Corpse Killer. There is an AVGN episode on it. It is a really sloppy game.
On the PC, there is this interactive film called Tender Loving Care that can get pretty messed up depending on how you answer the psychiatric profile.

I've played nearly every FMV game ever made, just let me know and I can tell you whether or not you're wasting your time.
I've played most of them, and Road Avenger is probably the best in the list. Night Trap and Double Switch definitely deserve recognition too, though.

Not really? It was $150ish with shipping when it came out.
True, but only the TG16 mini has Salamander. (Then again, you get Tokimeki Memorial instead on the PCE...)
That was after a discount from my credit card.
It was actually sold for $99.99.

Bargain, my CoreGrafx Mini was £99.99. I forget what the exchange rate was like then, a lot's happened since!

Oh... when I saw "modern FMV games," I thought people had started making new ones, and I was only hearing about it now.

Mostly Wales Interactive, who really love the genre for some reason.
I could have swore I had the Klingon game, but I can't find it.
I also would not mind modding the SNES mini and fixing Yoshi's Island.
I don't know if you can turn off the epilepsy stuff too.
