So, I've been confused on what dragon's are best to use for which characters. I've seen Shinobi and the other skill boosting dragons viewed as high value pulls, but the strength you have to give up seems like a lot. For example, is Shinobi really that much better than say Cthonius? Or does it really depend on the character?
it depends on what percentage of your character's damage is skill damage versus basic attack damage / force strikes.
for most high-tier characters, about 60-65% of the damage coming out is skill damage, so the skill damage dragons are better.
on a lot of the top adventurers, it's a +10-15% DPS difference.
bleed scales with skill damage, so victor/botan/ieyasu/addis all want skill damage.
wand users and characters with two attack skills usually want skill damage, so gala cleo, lily, etc. want skill damage.
fire has an interesting niche because it has arctos, who boosts crit damage.
ezelith and mikoto both have super high critical rates, so their ideal dragon is arctos.
wind has long long, but not anyone who can use the crit damage boost to the same degree except maybe lin you.
in light, there's no skill damage dragon, so it was Cupid forever until Daikokuten came out.
i'm pretty sure Daikokuten is a huge DPS upgrade if you can keep up a combo, but Cupid has a fantastic heal skill, so probably a mix is best in a party.
it is a very complex question and it's not an incredible difference until you get into min-maxing the endgame stuff.
the lucky letters gave me an absolute ton of summon tickets, and i didn't get anything over 4th prize.
i have more summons now than i did going into the banner, it's incredible.
still don't have DAOKOkuten

Nothing above 4th place but tickets got me both a Lily dupe, I thought she was limited, and a new Light dragon called Daikokuten that blows the pants off my Gilgamesh.
After about 400 pulls on this banner, plus who knows how many on the two other Eastern Emissaries banners, I finally have an Ieyasu. (Thankfully I had a pretty hefty wyrmite stockpile. Had...)

So I think it got lost at the bottom of last page, should I keep my dupe Marishten?
until you have enough fully unbound 4* or other single copies of 5* +strength/+skill damage dark dragons to fill most of a team
(you'll want 3 good +damage dragons because for most content with a full party you want 1 healer)
(you might want 4 +damage dragons for content like mercurial gauntlet but it's not critical?)
after that you should start combining to make better individual dragons.

Two hammer dragons,
But not one fire blade for meee.
Woo! Finally managed to solo eHMS (first kill ever). Took dozens of attempts, but it was very satisfying, and now I feel like I know the fight well enough to join a multiplayer pug.

I keep pulling duplicate Ieyasus while trying for Nobunaga. So annoying to see the rainbow katana and then not have it be her :P
Got everything else off this tho, so that's nice. Hoping one of these free summons is lucky (not sure how much longer they go for tho)
BTW, if anyone didn't see, Sunday is double drops on the new Chimera void battle. Awesome time to farm mats for those weapons (which I hear are comparable to HDT tier 2 weapons/6*s). It's too bad they are limited to fire tho. Hopefully they push out the other elements quickly.
Edit: Whoa, I just noticed the event raid can drop 5* tier 3 light weapons. Apparently I got the dagger without realizing (the difference between a silver border and gold is pretty subtle :P). That's really nice. Step up from dropping the t1 versions like most events

Is there a good guide for what I should be aiming for team wise, I have all sorts of stuff that looks/sounds fancy, but so far I've just been hitting optimize for everything.

Depends on your units, but generally you're going for a DPS, a healer, and two support units of some kind, but that can vary. So a couple of my teams, for instance: Fire: Rena (DPS), Verica (heal), Sarisse (DPS, support), and Emma (support). Wind: Victor (DPS), Noelle (support), WXania (heals), WElisanne (DPS, support). Mercurial Gauntlet team: Victor (DPS), GCleo (DPS/support), VEzelith (DPS/Support), Elisanne (support).
Over time you'll build a stable of units you will really enjoy using and create a bunch of elemental and other specialized teams.
For now, though? Focus on just a few adventurers. I would highly recommend leveling up the Elisanne you get from the story as she's a fantastic support unit. I'd also put a lot of work into Ieyasu. He's not considered as broken as he used to be, but he's still super powerful. And since you have Shinobi, he's that much more powerful.
ieyasu just got his mana spiral and now he's the second-best DPS in the game. of any element, iirc.
not relevant as much while you're still leveling up into that, but he's an incredible long-term investment.
edit: also Chitose is the light equivalent of Noelle and is really good. like really really good.

Oh yeah he is. But when he came out he was busted, now he's just great. Not a bad thing!

I've been wondering if this was the case. I suspected it based on his skills but it's nice to hear someone say it. I suppose I should build him up.
P.S. - holy shit this might be the easiest Omega ever. I was literally doing circles around the ring wasting time to see if he'd fish more because there was literally no threat of failing
I need to farm up the Omega Keys if Omega's that easy now, I normally don't bother trying for them too hard
Yeah, definitely do it. I feel like it's not significantly harder than normal and probably on par with nightmare (just that it takes longer only having 4 characters fight him). It's definitely the easiest Omega they've done. I'll probably end up farming it for the drops since there are some pretty nice ones this time (though I need to come up with a better solution for killing the fish.. I've been controlling Fleur and it's hard to target them with her tiny weapon hitbox.. maybe I should swap lead to Halloween Elly).
I'd also like to try and tackle some of the High Dragon Trials this weekend if I can I might splurge for the double drops thingy to help build up my high dragon orbs faster. I'm gonna have to watch some videos or something so I can figure out the light and dark ones..
Are there any resources that I should be really careful with spending?
I would say anything you see at the top of normal Treasure Trade where you need 10 pieces of a thing to make it (ex: golden keys, damascus ingot, sunlight stone, twinkling sand). Those tend to be rarer and really nice items so it's more try to make sure the thing you're using them on is worth it (i.e. don't use a golden key on a shitty wyrmprint or a sunlight stone on a bad 5* dragon :P) Everything else is pretty farmable, especially with them constantly doing double drops these days. But even those you do get an ok number of (usually from events, void battle treasure trade or mercurial gauntlet monthly rewards), just that it's more finite and less farmable.
Augments go ahead and use right away on your favorite heroes/wyrmprints/etc. You can always reset them if you find out you'd rather they be on something else (there's a gold cost but gold is farmable too :P). Maybe you might want to be careful with void battle drops if you are still at a place where those fights are really hard for you, but generally speaking if you can use them to make a really nice weapon or something, go for it.
Edit: Oh, and also champion's testaments (those gold pieces of paper). You need a ton of those to upgrade your heroes all the way. One to unlock the 5th mana circle (5* only heroes, 4* and lower only take knight's testaments which are easy peasy to get), one for their skill on the 5th mana circle, and then one to buy that dumb item which you probably don't want to do unless it'll get your hero to 50 (it's only worth 1/10th of a damascus ingot)... Plus the sixth mana circle for heroes that have it takes a ton of them too. So they are best used on heroes you are definitely gonna use.
Yeah, Champion's Testaments for sure. I started playing around June-ish and it's only been about the last month that I've started stockpiling those. They were definitely the biggest impediment to getting full teams of 5* units fully unlocked.

Kill the fish. If you get them all the pot will max out at either gold or rainbow (if you pulled more than one golden fish).
