Is there anything more attractive than a good looking person offering you cake? The Great British Bake-Off has given us many, many of these. It's a fine show about people making cakes in a tent, double entendres and they're all competing but honestly it's fine, no one hates anybody, no one talks about taking it to the max in a sincere way and there's lots of good natured hugging.

Here is Selasi. He's a banker who rides a motorcycle and screams of frustration echoed throughout the country when he casually mentioned he had a girlfriend.



Here is Manon. She's in the current series, is French and owns at least one bright red lipstick that makes me feel funny.



There's a celebrity version they do for charity. It's usually very funny.

There’s no reason Bogart would know this, but Off! is a brand of mosquito repellent sold in North America. It used to be called Deep Woods Off! But I guess that confused people who needed to repel skeeters but didn’t live in the deep woods so they simplified the name.

They still make deep woods off. It's their like super brand that's got more chemicals in it that melt paint. It's what I use to keep ticks off when I go hunting.

Ooh v on topic post for me
I just ate a cake with 7 thin well-defined layers (mango and chocolate) and a somehow crunchy bottom (a thin layer of chocolate-covered wafer?) and watching GBBO has really enhanced my appreciation of this sort of dessert and I can sort of imagine them making eg the mango gelatin layer and all the craftsmanship that went into it

Also phone posting but someone should post a picture of Kimberly who I would probably say was the most charming contestant across all seasons; the young male doctor whose name I forgot was also very cute

i have a guitar and sometimes i play it but writing music is not something that really does it for me and yet playing covers to myself for 17 years feels weird

I think the best Bake-Off contestant was Nadiya. A stupidly talented baker, and also just a spectacularly decent, personable woman. And of course now she has like three cooking shows of her own. Can't think of any bakers off hand who I actually disliked. They seem to actively screen out tools.

My favourite bake off moment though was Chetna being confronted with a Technical that she had literally just done the previous round. Amazing that everyone kept a straight face for a couple of hours beforehand.

My Dad and his partner were down in Virginia a couple weeks ago

Both managed to pick up a tick in their brief interactions with the hiking trails :P

It's a really great product, that you don't want to think about too hard. my mom when she had her crab party used to have a couple cans of deep woods off and some citronella candles. She'd also fog the back yard a couple hours before people would show up.

There would be no mosquitoes or flies...or really much of anything.
