Look, I've played this game mode once and even I understand the mechanic. Put the motes in the thing. If the team has a full grey bar, doesn't that mean the whole team has enough motes to summon the boss? Go drop your motes in the thing!
I have played this game mode less than one time and I somehow was better than the teammates it matched me with. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!
Watching people continue to hunt motes when there is more than enough for a summon chaffs my butt something fierce.
There was some discussion in the thread a while back about whether it's a better strategy to wait to bank until you've got enough for large blockers and then deposit simultaneously to override the mote limit since it 1) dumps a bunch of ogres and 2) gives the other team time to kill their envoys which, thanks to Gambit's copious rubber-banding, gives you (the trailing team) the slayer buff stacks.
I personally prefer to not mess with that because it seems like asking the other team to send an invader in to Sleeper those motes into the ether but that's me.
Speaking of shotguns, what's a good roll for them for a PvP perspective? I got a Parcel by Starlight with full choke, but that seems to lower the range....
...but if the pellets don't spread that would make it better at some ranges?

There is a triumph that literally requires you to get a mostly full "grey bar."
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
Gotcha, all I'm missing is the shotgun and I'm done with that, too.
I thought the ship, sparrow, and ghost were a myth, never seen by man.
Oh shit didn't realize those counted
Lame. Maybe the come out of the second reset package?
A friend of mine said he got the ship and the sparrow to drop out of the Malfeasance boss, both sometime after his first reset. I really hope that's not the only way they drop.

Full Choke is a great perk for a PvP shottie, and pellet spread is more important than range. Unfortunately, Parcel of Stardust is still kinda poopy for PvP because of its low impact. The hierarchy of important stats for shotguns in PvP are:
1. Impact (more is better)
2. Spread (less is better)
3. Range (more is better)
I have a Parcel with Full Choke, Full Auto, and Rampage. Its OHK range is still basically "within melee" so I traded it in for my old Baligant, which just shreds people from the range you'd expect. Also, Full Choke doesn't itself lower range, but you may be switching off a perk that increases range, so it looks like that.

That sounds almost like a Hard Mode achievement that I would never even consider unless I had buy-in from my groupmates beforehand. Like if I'm tanking for a group in World of Warcraft, I don't try to do special hard achievements in a pickup group without telling them about it beforehand. I've literally never seen that happen.
Anyways, it sounds like there are reasons why people would try to bank motes for a long time. I just don't find the reasons for doing it understandable if you're grouping with strangers who you aren't coordinating with.

For that particular triumph, you have to have all 4 people talking and buying in, there is basically no way you would do it by accident.
The other secret triumph you can actually do pretty easily if you have a buddy funneling you motes and running as a screen blocker for invaders

Excellent summation, thank you.
My Parcel also has a masterwork of range, so I need to look at it, but that still doesn't affect the impact. Gah. I wonder if people have spreadsheeted out the Impact # needed to OHK.

Mildly perturbed that that lightning pillar > ascended realm Heroic Bounty in the dreaming city does not count towards Heroic events Petra daily. Presumably because it takes you to the ascended realm, which is technically out of the Dreaming City or something?

The Wishing Wall just highlights how weird it is that they didnt bother putting in a reset option for the raid.
At least I got 2 of the eggs in there, now to ask other people for a checkpoint 3 times more... (Some of them are a bitch to get to and I'm not asking my raid team to wait around for that)

The way I interpret the powerful system is that once you out level something you really shouldn’t expect an increase from it.
There’s a small 1/8 or so chance you will but for the most part, no.
It’s better than no chance. As it would’ve been in past hard capped systems.
Once you get to 540 expect your main upgrades to be raid and dreaming city (aka the end Game) don’t expect them to be dailies and weeklies etc
You’ve effectively out leveled that content. It’d be like going to a level 1 zone in any mmo and expecting your level 50 char to level there.
Viewing it that way, I have like zero disappointment. I don’t expect those things to level me up. Because they aren’t designed to.
I'm guessing you arent over 540? Because this isnt really true, unless all your gear is the exact same level.
My Titan still gets powerful drops from dailies and weeklies and he's just broken 580, all powerful drops can be used to get slots thats lacking behind the others, up to the average and in most cases even +1 beyond that.
My current problem is mainly that my guns are higher than my alts armor pieces and then I sometimes get (wasted) weapons 10 times straight, its frustrating and its annoying.
This is a pure RNG system, one that Blizzard warned them against using, argued that they should at least put in a "Bad Luck" safeguard system otherwise people playing will get a negative experience of said system and they will tell other people.

i probably started too late to actually play with people before the end of the season anyway so i’m not too personally worried about it but it does feel like the system could be better

Queenbreaker twice
I guess I'll get a 2nd Lord of Wolves soon? (Because thats the only other Forsaken weapon exotic I've gotten that isnt from a quest.)
My friend got his 2nd Black Talon today (He has gotten 2 Forsaken Exotics)

Yup! :P
three helmets received
total power level increase: +0.6
nice
8 primary weapons received.
+3 exotics I already had.
Total power increase: 0.
You know, I’ve changed my mind, this powerful system is great.
They sensed you didn't like the first one, so they tried a few more times.
I meant better for easier opponents. It also has bad players if you play with randoms on your side but... Why would you not group up for Gambit?
